Ever since I was a young boy, I played the silver ball. No, wait, I'm thinking of Tommy. Either way, pinball has been an important part of my life whenever it has been. Time marches on though, and you can't just go play pinball like you used to. Down at the local hangout, by the soda fountain, with flippers flipping, balls always bouncing, to the left and to the right, lights flashing, eplileptic kids flailing about on the floor, those days, back then, they're gone.

All is not lost though. Pinball FX2 is here to fill that void left by the demise of the pinball machine with software pinball that surpasses the original in every way except for those it does not. When it comes down to it, what you really lose is having an actual pinball table in front of you. You can never recreate that exact feel, the solid wood gripped firmly in your hands as you aim for ever higher scores while deftly avoiding the flailing epileptic kids.

That's just the way it has to be though, and there are plenty of good things about virtual pinball that makes it well worth a play. The tables can be more elaborate than a real pinball table ever could, and they certainly are lovely to look at. Any pinball table you want is right there on your television, no need for a huge arcade to house all of your games. Heck, with a wireless xbox controller, you even get some vibration when you shake the table.

If you loved pinball when you were a kid, or know someone who did, give Pinball FX2 a try. It's the next best thing to being there again, reliving those memories, and best of all, you won't have to step over any epileptics to do it.

Did you love old school pinball games like Psycho Pinball, Slam Tilt, Epic Pinball and Pinball Fantasies? Well, Pinball FX 2 is for you. Brilliant graphics, good gameplay, many tables (occasionally available in cheap game bundles) and fun way to compare scores to your Steam friends.

It is the first pinball game in years that keeps me playing!

Amazing fun for hours. Great time killer. The tables are interesting and engaging with lots of tricks to learn. I don't always like the DLC philosophy of game design but if there was ever a perfect fit for it, it is with Pinball FX2. The core graphix and physics really dont need an update, so with DLC it allows the developers to focus their energy on continuing to produce top notch tables. That is exactly what they do. Buy the tables that you want, skip the ones you dont, and you even get to try before you buy. How great is that. Also the price of the tables is crazy reasonable, especially if you catch it on sale. This purchase is a no brainer!

Great game, but exclusively comes with a free table! Lots of different tables to choose/buy from! For example 'The walking Dead', 'Plants vs Zombies', 'Marvel' and loads more! There are 8 different table views to choose from.

Therefore, I can reccomend this game!

Way too difficult and time-consuming to be worth playing.

I have about 20 tables that I've picked up through sales and such over time. Sure, the game involves batting a ball around. Sure, you get points. But this is about as much pinball as Sonic Spinball was. Every single table has a ridiculously drawn out set of goals you have to meet to get anywhere near the final mode.

How is anyone supposed to clear Fear Itself, Inifinity Gauntlet, or Star Wars Ep. 4 within any kind of reasonable time? Look at classic pins like Addams Family, Twilight Zone, Monster Bash, Tales of the Arabain Nights, or Theatre of Magic. Someone who knows what they're doing can get through all of the modes and into the wizard mode with about 15 minutes of playing.

When I go to YouTube, every single table's wizard mode takes at least 50 minutes to over an hour of (what I assume to be) truly excellent playing. Star Wars Ep. 5? Gotta get through six separate stages of three checkpoints each. Fear Itself? Hope you like clearing the... seven(?) worthies. Don't mess up that last shot, or you have to start the whole mode over. Infinity Gauntlet? THERE ARE MORE PEOPLE ALIVE TODAY THAN HAVE EVER DIED. DID YOU KNOW THAT? ADAM WARLOCK WILL MAKE SURE YOU DON'T FORGET.

I tried changing the difficulty of the tables, but I don't see that it does anything. Some ball saver time limits might be increased, but the modes aren't any easier to complete. You'd think that somewhere around "very easy", they'd do something like allow you to pick up where you left off during a given mode. Timeshock, Big Race USA and Fantastic Journey by Pro Pinball are great examples of challenging games with reasonable goals and measureable progress through them.

I want to like these tables. I really do. They're all good-looking and some of them are pretty clever. But holy balls, they take forever to feel like you've accomplished anything. Some people might say "Learn to play, noob. These tables are meant to be hard." I counter that there's a sport called Takraw which is like volleyball with nothing but bicycle kicks. It's a ridiculuosly hard sport to play. Does that make it the best sport in the world? Is Checkers better than Chess? Is American Football better than Soccer? More difficult doesn't make something better.

Playing on the ARSENAL pinball.

Its is super league but has no single player competition mode in other words you play the same team over and over again, going nowhere.

You can play in super league mode only with friends and that's not always possible.

The game has some nice features but the ball is down on your flipper way to much this also makes multi ball feature much to crazy.

One of the features is close to the flippers and fires the ball out at speed direct onto your flipper, you have no chance in seeing what award you have earned by getting the ball into this feature.

Have played for 4 hours now and I am bored with it but for £2.00 not bad, it could have been so much better.

The other themed boards seem be better, gameplay, sound and graphics can be very good, choose wisely.

HomeboyOne was correct in his review in that the game has way too much latency on controls. Graphics are outstanding. Sound is also top notch. I think the different tables are overpriced, but that's just me. Would only buy a new table on sale. But back to the controls. Without more responsive controls, what could have been an outstanding game, is knocked out of contention. I have a top notch system, and tried turning down all graphics options, only to still have the same latency on the controls. For me, because of the slow responding controls, I find this to be unplayable. Would not recommend this game as it stands right now.

Nice visuals, it may be a little confussing at the beginning, but after some minutes it'll become alot of fun, plus the tables layout variety allows to test several strategies for better points total. For pinball fans this is a must, i haven't play pinball this much since the old days of space cadet in windows xp :D
