An extra large Stand-Alone Scenario. Legend tells of dragons who ruled the fabled Sea of Flames at the dawn of time. However nobody has seen a True Dragon in living memory. The isles are still loaded with treasure and have become popular with adventures, merchants, scoundrels and sightseers. Now eight rival lords have found a mysterious dragon’s egg, and each sees it as proof of their claim to the Dragon’s Throne. The sages warn they risk unleashing the wrath of the Dragons, but the Lords pay no heed as they prepare for war. You can play the Dragon’s Throne versus AI opponents or in multiplayer with up to 8 players.

One of the funnest empire builder games i've played thus far
Pros:
Character customization
Choices that will shape your empire
Powerful spells and magicks
Summons and ability to forge alliances with npc's
Did i mention character customization?
Cons:
To get any of the REALLY fun classes unlocked you need to buy the dlc's
Some npc's wont aid you in wars
Vassal's aren't very helpful
quests get repetitive

Almost as good as Civ 5, Much better than Beyond Earth. Graphics are good. The focus on armies and battle system make this game really fun.

One Of my Favorite things about this game is that you have the option to have MultiRaced Army with every game you play.

Horned Gods are your best friends.

Spectacular. I didn't have a quality pc when the original AoW(s) were out, and I regret it even moreso, now.
I've been waiting for some quality fantasy 4x for years, after getting a taste for them with a mod for CIv IV. This game is well balanced, with good battle mechanics (you can wipe out or be wiped out by lesser forces, with tactics) and well animated. Good fun!

This is one of those games you think you're not going to like but ends up surprising you with how good it truly is. The best way to describe the game is like it's Civilization V without the city micro-management in turn for more indepth combat and multiple story driven chapters. If you enjoy strategy or hex-based games this is a definite must if it's on sale.

Age of Wonders III is a must-have for anyone that loves fantasy and/or turn-based strategy games. The multiple campaigns have great stories, the gameplay is smooth and the graphics are beatiful. This game is worth the money you pay for it and you'll enjoy it for many hours.

Game is great with the expansions, and it actually managed to capture that MoO2 feel for about a week but is marred by a few issues.
The AI is bad. Not terrible, but bad.
Combat is a little simplistic all things considered and feels pretty grindy late game.
The simultaneous turn thing was a little weird at first, but it makes much more sense than the alternatives even if creates the illusion of lag. It also prevents players from being at a disadvantage in a turn due to combat.
The game really shines in multiplayer but the AI issue will really leave single players and pure co-op players frustrated eventually, but likely not until they've gotten their moneys worth anyways.

First thing, I highly recommend you try one of the previous games to see if you like AOW's take on 4x games before you take the plunge. I've enjoyed this game very much. The tactical battles could be better. I find myself skipping through them sometimes even if i'm not playing multiplayer but they are more exciting than I've seen in any other game of this genre (exept maybe legendary heroes). The overworld strategic elements are diverse and engaging.

This game is pretty fun. I found this game to be a cool trowback to the old might and magic games like m&m 4 with some elements of like civ or something. The combat is fun and the game is also pretty addictive. But i still wouldn't recommend it at full price because its pretty repetitive and sometimes pretty bland. But if you like strategie games i would recommend it for half the price.

Heroes of Might and Magic 3 on steroids.

More city options, but not too much so you get lost like Civ.
Epic full 3D strategic turn-based hex-grid combat.
Lots of variety of units and heroes.
Lots of spells to research and cast, both combat and strategic, but impact is a bit limited because you can only cast a few spells per combat.
A few mildly irritating quirks, but nothing critical.

80 hours in so far, and I haven't even finished one campaign yet...
