Extensive DLC which overhauls religion. First DLC I bought, and its definitely a must have for any proper Catholic. College of Cardinals is nice, especially when your bishops and dynasty member get elected. Excommunications for all!

Awesome expansion, but I think in some cases, the original county/duchy/kingdom shield should remain instead of replacing it with a very generic Islamic one when a muslim ruler takes over. Would be nice to have proper dynasty shields for muslim rulers.

I had thought we already had a religion DLC in the form of "The Old Gods", but in truth this deals with "The New Gods" instead. In other words... a nice little expansion that adds further depths to the great religions of the middle ages that held so much importance during those times.

Also you can finally build a Jewish Empire in this game. That's pretty neat. :o

Pay to be jewish? There really is nothing wrong with that, it's completly normal.

10/10 would borrow money to fund massive attack on HRE.

Only bad thing about this DLC is it makes Catholics the most interesting religion to play in the long term, with their increased politics, military orders, religious decisions and events. Pretty worth it. Makes them funner to fight against too. Adding things for Judiaism is also pretty interesting, Ashina to Israel is a good slog of a compaign fighting through some of the toughest foes for a big reward, one of the rarest achievements in the game.

Great DLC that adds lots more relion based events. Once as the Byzantine Emperor I was really close to restoring the Roman Empire when a daughter got the demon child event. She started murderng her siblings until i had enough and didn't want her to ruin all i had built so i imprisoned and executed her and then all my vassals started hating me. Luckinly I had a lot of gold and I had to bribe all my vassals not to revolt.

Also this DLC adds another way to get rid of annoying brothers or excess sons by making them monks which will usually casue them to join a holy order.

I played as the only Jewish nation in the game and after several incursions in Arab lands I am constantly at war with my neighbors, wars I always win.

10/10 Israel simulator.

Good dlc. Need to play as a jew or to borrow money. Very important and basic dlc that includes some other stuff but is needed for ironman mode. Adds lots of extra stuff important to gameplay for religions, pilgrimages, pope elections and such

Runs with a suggestion of the "Khazar origin theory" as historically accurate while also including anti-Popes and Jewish merchants who charge excessive interest. Everything provocative one could want in DLC for Crusader Kings II.

This is 3rd most important DLC to pick up for CK2 (after Legacy of Rome, and The Old Gods)

This DLC gives you a significant advantage when playing. You can borrow 300g from the Jews, then expel them for 200g more. At the start of the game you instantly have 500g.

Bishop/Cardinal mechanics are basicly worthless.
-Biggest problem I have is that the Pope is always perfect, and all your bishop vassals will pay tax to him.
-Pope will give you money regardless. Whether you cared to give vote him or ignored the mechanic altogether. Basicly New Pope = gimme that money. Leave your councillor bishop improving relations with pope, all game. You will make 5000g easy.
-minor actual control over the Papal state. Dynasty member will give you the same amount as non-dynasty with the same traits.

Religious events are basicly 30gold for 30 piety, and 20% chance of drunkard or 30% +1learning.

Jewish characters could be fun to play, but you can't borrow and expel Jews for 500g... making them weaker then any state in the game with a "modern/reformed" religion

I have to pay money to play as Jews. There's something profoundly meta about this, sublime/10.

I recommend this just for that demon spawn event.

The meter does not accuratly display the correct level of difficulty while playing as Jewish IMO. It should be all the way up. You have no friends or other Jews anywhere close. While the ability to challenge yourself by playing as a Jew is awesome, and the added options this expansion offers are nice, I can not justifiy for the amount it costs to purchase. Wait for a steam sale at 85% off!

Arguably the most needed expansion yet, the new additions allow for the Catholics to get a fighting chance against the Pagans in the early start, and an amazing amount of new tactics to gain power
