Brilliant game, best described as a mix of dungeon crawling and puzzling.
Its basically about "solving" small dungeons, not bigger than screen size, by succesfully optimzing the game mechanics (rules, spells, character abilities, environment). And as simple as that sounds: dont plan every of your moves carefully, and you will fail. Be prepared for a tough mental challenge if you choose to play this game, in which the depth has no limits...
Concerning the graphics, dont let you fool by its simpleness- there is an AMAZING amount of content behind it: a lenghty campaign, random generated dungeons, optional puzzles, tutorials, achievements, (upgradeable) buildings, unlocks (races, classes), quests...
I played for 30 hours now, am still discovering new ways to optimize my play, and still have tons of stuff to do!
On the negative side, the game suffers from a lack of final polish (refinemen and comfort):
Some descriptions and tooltips are lacking, few are even wrong, which leads to several bad experiences and losses, until you have learned the game properly. Be prepared to play all tutorials and use the Wiki in order to really understand this game.
Additionaly, the balance is lacking, and thats the only really
bad thing i could say about this game. Some monsters and gods are (in relation) stronger than others, and since dungeons are randomly generated, frustration is a part of this game.
It goes as far, that some challenges and dungeons are not always beatable, as a certain constellation is necessary to succeed, and thats the point where it hurts.
In the end, some will love this game, while others will hate it.
Patient people with a preference for mentally demanding, turn based games will find hundreds of hours of enjoyment in this game, while the casual and/or action gamer might get frustrated by the learning curve, the slow pace and/or the randomness.
For me, this was one of the best
purchases ive ever
