Do you enjoy the loot fest of Diablo? Do you wish Torchlight 2 had a constant community to interact with ingame? Do you enjoy Path of Exile, but sometimes want an easier and less hardcore experience? Then Marvel Heroes might be your go to game this summer!
Don't let reviewers shy you away from the game because a lot of its problems from last June have been fixed (mostly). The game does still have its problems and shortcomings. As of writing this they still do not have a proper trade menu, which every MMO ever has gotten right if they were made in the past decade.
Characters are imbalanced but a lot of the free starter characters offer fun diverse playstyles. After completing story mode you'll be offered the ability to get another free one. Heroes are no longer random drops, but rather awarded to you for playing long periods of time. The only real thing that only money can buy is storage space.
Yes this game is not as great as Dota2 or Path of Exile at the Free2Play Model, but it isn't the worst anymore. All heroes have been marked down since the original release and are (for the most part) priced fairly for the amount of time a person invests in the hero. There's also a server called Test Center that allows you to test out a character at the max level, to see if you'll enjoy the character before ever buying them. Something that was a major problem at the game's initial release.
Honestly the game has come a long way since last June. However the lack of a trade system, quickly running into inventory management, no autosort option for items, weird chat UI, and lack of partying incentive during the grind from 1 to 60... really holds the game back from being a major recommendation. However if you're a fan and want to try a new Diablo style lootfest, Marvel Heroes might be worth your time.
