This is a free to play, diablo-style, loot based, mmo game. And for one who likes Marvel universe, it is also an awesome one.

- This is a loot based game. If you don't like grinding you might get bored once you are through basic modes of the game.

- Characters: there is still some balance needed so that weaker characters (like Mr Fantastic), can be more appealing.

- Queue system: for raids doesn't seam to work at all. For PvP - I'm not sure if anybody plays this mode.

- Chaos: when you start the game, you may get a bit confused at first. It takes some time to wrap your brain around how the game works.

Characters: over 50 or almost 60 (villains, anti-heroes and heroes from Marvel) are made and voice-acted extrimely well. Game does justice to their individuality. I even started liking characters I wasn't paying too much attention to before (like Taskmaster). All characters play differently and have 3 skill trees you can build up to your liking as you level up.

Events - there are weekly events, though repetitive after a while. And other events, that happen rarely, but bring cool rewards.

Drops - the balance between drops of greater value (like costumes, eternity splinters required for new hero unlocks) is done ok. You can always buy them for RL currency, but you also stand a chance of obtaining them through in-game currency. It is not too fast, but it's also not painstakingly long. It's done fine.

Keeping up with other Marvel's enterprises - this game is up to date with whatever happens in Marvel's comics, movies and tv series. There is this integrity aspect that is appealing, especially if you enjoy whatever Marvel is putting out there.

Constant updates - this game is still being updated (new characters, team-up heroes, gameplay modifications). Which is a good thing. Devs are still expanding the game, fix stuff, change some, add to it - a good thing.

Achievements - for completionists. Lots of achievements and some have really awesome rewards.

I have played so many Free to Play games, but so far this is the only example of how good a F2P game could be.
Replayability :- 7/10
Constant updates :- 10/10
Events every month :- 10/10
Dev's interaction with players :- 9/10
Real F2P aspect :- 9/10
Inevntory management :- 3/10

At the start of the game you are given all heroes to play for free until they reach level 10, level 60 is max for unlocked heroes. Once you are done deciding which hero you want you can unlock 1 hero for free to lvl it to 60 (I suggest taking Deadpool 1st, since he has no energy cost and is fun to play).

Everytime you play the game, the game will drop Eternity Splinters for you to pick up, don't ignore them. You can use those Eternity Splinters to buy more heroes from the 'Eternity Splinter" vendor. You don't need to spend real/steam money for playing the game. The only thing you can might need to spend money is the costumes, but random costumes can be crafted too when you do Prestige. Prestige is releveling a hero from 0 to 60 once again, everytime you prestige you get a original costume of a hero, you can use 3 of the original costumes to craft 1 random costume.

There is atleast 1 event going on every month which will keep you hooked up to the game. The devs make sure the events are glitch-free.

The only thing I don't like about this game is that the default inventory is too short, and the Eternity Splinter price of STASH is also too high (600 Splinters) which takes long time to aquire compared to Random hero unlock box (175 Splinters).

Overall rating for the game :- 8/10

Played it a lot. Not that much recently, but probably gonna play it more again.

So far, had fun withut spending too much on it. It's definitely very playable without spending anything at all. You can get pretty much everything (important) without paying.

I bought a few games during the Steam Summer sale, and now those games are covered in virtual dust because I found Marvel Heroes around the same time. I started off with an incredible deal on the Civil War pack which gave me a running start at this fun and addictive game.
As people have mentioned, it is a Diablo style (wear out your mouse) MMO game where you get to play as your favorite Marvel Heroes. I liked that you can solo most of the content, but if you want to join others, I feel the game's community is very helpful and friendly.
There are various currencies in the game like loot dervived and found gold, Odin Marks for special items, various random event items and Eternity Splinters which you collect as you play. Eternity Splinters are the currency you can get new characters with or you can buy them for real world money called "G".
One major thing I liked about the game is that it truely is playable for free and various special events yield even more free items. Although, I eventually did pay real money with absolutely no regrets for some additional heroes and most importantly inventory space called Stash's. (That is the little catch in the free to play model, you have very limited inventory space.) I found that by waiting for sales and special offers you can build a pretty large base of characters easily without spending a ton of money and even when I do pay I feel like I'm getting way more of a value and playability than I have with many of the other paid games in my library.
The developers really stay on top of things creating new heroes, special events and additional content all the time. So it's nice to know they actually care about putting out and supporting a good product.
The gameplay is easy, but there are deep, complex and enjoyable aspects to it as well as you progress.
A few things I wish I knew starting off is items/loot from worst to best is: white, green, blue, purple, yellow and finally the unique brown for basic items. Relic's, Rune's and Artifacts and Legendary items are valuable for the more advanced development and depth of the character's and game. Selling loot for credits isn't very important until much later on. You are way better off donating loot to your Crafter and Enchanter who unlock options as they level. (You can donate to most vendors but I feel the Crafter is most important first.)
Team-Up Heroes are a lot of fun to have and help a lot if you solo often. I bought 1 and got 1 free on sale, and one came with the Civil War pack and one was free from an event. Also, you can use the same Team Up multiple times on the various main characters available. They say one of the best Team Ups is Pirate Deadpool, whom you get for free from doing a simple quest. I like Clea best and recommend getting her if you buy one.
There is a very in-depth forum available for questions you may have and most people will help you out if you just ask.
I recommend this game to everyone and especially Marvel fans! No regrets getting and playing this one.

Are you a big fan of Marvel?
Are you also a big fan of games in the style of Diablo?

If you said yes to both questions then please try this game. It has a quality to it that I didnt not expect from a free to play game from Marvel. I have enjoyed this game so much so that I am willing to spend real money on it and enhance my experience.

I mean its free to play, so it wont hurt to download and try it out.

See you in game, Hero!

If you like the IP and diablo-esque gameplay. Try it! It's f2p. It has gamepad support.

A major overhaul of the builds system will be coming in a few months time. To be honest, this is a good move to update heroes that are under powered. Personally for me, I'm pumped for the update to hit! A good game to visit time and again.

I stumbled on to this game by pure accident. I expected very, very little from it (I'm too much of a comic and gaming nerd to believe that they'd do it right).
This was also the first time that I had tried a free game (I have over 85 paid games in my library), so there was also that touch of elitism in thinking that free could not be cool.
I was wrong and I admit it.
Is it perfect? Of course not; what is? Is it fun? yes. Easy to learn and complex to master? Yes. Are the controls fine? Yes again. I've read some complaints about them, but I personally had no need for digit-dexterity beyond the norm for gaming via keyboard.
Also, it truly is free, and you can unlock evry option with time and ggameplay. Of course you can get it faster via real money, but if you play a semi-reasonable amount, you'll earn it for free, Also, you can try every character to level 10 (out of 60 give or take) before you decide which to perma-unlock.
If you're curious, give it a try--it's free after-all. You may not come back to it or you may wind up as addicted as I have.

Marvel Heroes is a Diablo like loot based top-down MMORPG. The game manages to be challenging, while still being fun to play for hours. It is amazing how true the game stays to rhe characters: They are all EXACTLY like in the comics, which is a great thing considering how much the MCU got wrong...
My favourite feature of Marvel Heroes is how every Hero plays differently. I am not saying it is changed gameplay - it feels like playing a completely different game!
I also like how it is challenging on a mental level: You as a player have to pay attention to the stats and percentages of defense and utility of your character to know which loot to use, how to play and how to use the three (!) different upgrade systems.

All in all I have to say that Marvel Heroes is a great but underappreciated and quite frankly underrated game with amazing content and a huge potential. I reccomend this game to fans of Diablo 3, League of Legends and every Marvel fan who likes to think and beat s##t up!

This game has come a long way since its release. In its current state, it is a very fun and fair f2p game. If you played it initially and didn't like it back then, you should definitely give it another shot! Needless to say, if you like Marvel games, this is probably the best thing we have at the moment!

There are tons of characters that are mostly fun to use and feel different. The animations, effects, and sounds are really good for an ARPG, and you really feel like a superhero/villain while playing. Unlike other ARPGs like PoE or Diablo, Marvel heroes actually have a lot of content focused for teamplay. There are even raids in the game that require a full team of players that require actual skills too. There are a lot of things to do, a lot of items/characters to farm/collect, and a lot of events to participate in. I come back to this game every time a new Marvel movie/tv show comes out, since the game usually has an event associated with them at the same time.

Overall, it's a solid 8/10 game overall, and a solid 9/10 for someone who either likes ARPGs or Marvel comics/movies. It's free to play, so why not give it a try?

Meh. Top down camera, no custom characters, pure damage powers... Not a good first impression and it will be my last.

To be fair, compared to the games it's similar to (from the PS2) it's alright. But life rolls on, there are better things now, and these game mechanics are no longer worth the time.

A mindless beat 'em up. It reminds me of those old 8 bit sidescrollers back when we only had two buttons.

Horrible, half ♥♥♥♥♥, incomplete controller support like a 15 year old game.
