The Age of Ultron has arrived. Our 58th playable Hero, Ultron, has joined Marvel Heroes 2016!

About Ultron

It was a cold day in December when Ultron became self-aware. Hank Pym had no idea exactly what consequences the machine’s sentience would unleash on the world. But before the brilliant Avenger could act, Ultron rebelled. Not just against its creator, but against all organic life. Over time, Ultron has upgraded and rebuilt itself continually while pushing the evolutionary boundaries of synthetic life. Each step brings Ultron closer to perfection. But Earth’s mightiest heroes, the Avengers, have always pulled the plug Ultron’s campaigns. Now Ultron’s prime directive has been updated, taking this machine’s unlimited functionality to unstoppable levels.

Drop by the Ultron Forums for in-depth discussions on his powers, future costumes, and more.

Very fun game! they are trying to add in more and more of the marvel universe into it, which is awesome. I dont really have anything bad to say about it other than maybe it gets repetetive at times, but you just gotta switch up the characters.

Don't get me wrong this is an amazing game, but everytime I go on hells kitchen I crash 30 seconds in. I have put the settings on the lowest so I know its not me. Please fix this, I really like the game so far but I cant get to chapter 2 since I crash. I only crash in hells kitchen from what I know. No where else.

Well, the marvel heroes game has a huge roster of heroes to play from staples like Iron Man and Captain America to more obscure characters such as Angela of Asgard. There are further team up options with even more heroes who will aid you hero on their quest, with different costumes and uniforms for all. This is a very large game, with no "end game" but plenty of content for you after you have been through the story and got a character to the highest level (60). The upside is it is very easy to play, pulls you into the gameplay and has a thriving fan commnity. The less good side is the repetitive grind nature of constantly going through the same content for rewards and incremental improvement to gear which eventually begins to weigh heavily from the laws of diminishing return. Gazillion do add content regularly and hold "events" to add a bit of variety to keep the game fresh and new characters appear regularly.
On balance, this can be a highly absorbing and time consuming game which is fun to play, possibly best kept in rotation wth other games to avoid it getting stale. There is a bit of a "beta feel" which I like, that I would suggest is a matter of individual taste - but definitely the best free offering I have played to date.... and I have played it a lot. Download and enjoyed best in moderation :)

Marvel Heroes is a F2P ARPG, or a diablo like game if you aren't familar with the genre.

It does some things well, like a large cast with each being fairly unique in play style. The Omega System (think a more complex paragon system if you played D3) offers the same post max level progression. Many of the skills have good flashy looks. The gameplay is quick and you'll often feel powerful like a superhero should. The storyline is enjoyable for a playthrough...but after like any ARPG becomes something that simply slows down progression.

Which leads into the things it does not as well. Forced stat gains tied to storyline quest mean you're forced between grinding out those quest lines for skill points, mana, hp or be a weaker character for it. Progression without buying boost can feel slow, especially if there isn't a major event going on at the time. While there is always some form of an event going on, not all of them are fun and many of them will require you to play multiple times to get the "best" rewards.

The game has an odd mix between wanting to be a casual ARPG and an end grind heavy MMO. While you can enjoy the 1-60 experience and push to cosmic (hard mode) versions of what you've been doing without getting into the grind to hard. You will eventually hit the point of, do you want to turn this into a weekly grind where you have to do, X, Y, and Z to maintain effecient progression, switch to leveling a new hero, or taking a break.

Fun to play for a few weeks and gets boring, come back a few months later, begin cycle again. If you like diablo or marvel its a good time for a free game that gets new content every 6 months to a year.

When Marvel Heroes first came out in 2013, I didn't really think much of it. The P2W aspects were completely in your face, the grind was horrendous, it paled in comparison to Path of Exile and even Diablo 3, and it just wasn't fun.

Three years later...dear god. I've never seen a game go from a 50 to a 100 in such a way. It is very clear that Gazillion has immense passion for this game, and it shows. So many things have improved, and now Marvel heroes is easily one of my favorite ARPGs ever.

Pros:
- Over 50 iconic Marvel characters, each brought to life by excellent VA and superb writing.

- While several characters are similar to each other, they're all unique in their own way just enough to make each new character a new experience.

- TRULY free to play. Back in 2013, getting new heroes without shelling out real money was a pipe dream at BEST. You could only get them by finding Hero Tokens that had a .01% chance of dropping. Now, however, every Hero and Team Up can be purchased with Eternity Splinters, which generally drop from every 10th enemy or so. The prices are reasonable, and the payoff is well worth it. But as for real money, this is pretty much the ONLY F2P game I have no problem spending money on, because I honestly believe the devs DESERVE it for all the hard work they've put into it.

- Extremely flexible gameplay. Most of the "big" ARPGs tend to be gated by having endgames that completely decimate you if you didn't build your character's skills and/or stats in an EXACT way. Marvel Heroes though? You can do whatever and you won't get penalized! Want to make Doctor Doom or Ultron pure ranged DPS and not a summoner? Go ahead! Want to make Cyclops melee only? No problem! The list goes on, and the possibilities are near endless.

- Extremely active dev team and community: Like I said, Gazillion clearly has passion for this game. Every other week, a new event goes live that grants you unique content, such as items, costumes and even Team Ups. Their 3rd anniversy this past June was, in my opinion, one of the best MMO events I've ever taken part in.

- The new level scaling system. Not only does it make leveling much less stressful, but it also keeps everything at a consistent challenge level. No more breezing through each Hero's "Vs Doctor Doom" achievement for you. Now you have to WORK to beat him before the three minute mark!

Cons:

- Maybe this is just me, but ever since the Avengers Tower revamp, several areas tend to be very lag heavy. Or maybe this one's just my internet connection.

- March to Axis is WAY too hard! If you ever read this, Gaz, please consider toning down the health for the HYDRA Hulkbusters. Or at the very least, get rid of the massive dps AoE they use when at half health!

- Still no Ultron achievement for the steam version. Hopefully it will be added when Angela goes live.

Overall verdict: 9/10

Excellent game, great graphics, fantastic developers who listen to the players input. Great community, not a play to win game, and a game that keeps sucking you back in. Few free to plays hit it on the noggin, and this is one of those rare ones that just did it right, and listened.
