Elektra Joins Marvel Heroes 2016!

New Hero: Elektra

Elektra has joined the Hero roster of Marvel Heroes 2016!

From a young age, Elektra Natchios trained in the martial arts well into her adulthood. But when Elektra’s father - a Greek Ambassador - was killed in a terrorist abduction gone horribly wrong, she was convinced that the law had failed her. She then traveled afar to Japan to perfect her combat skills; taking matters into her own hands. Taught by both the ancient Chaste order and the notorious Hand organization, she would later return home as an infamous assassin at the top of her game.

Being the best of the best, Elektra’s clients include a large variety of the world’s elite - from S.H.I.E.L.D. to Kingpin. Yet, she continuously crosses paths with her old college flame, Matt Murdock and his alter ego Daredevil. Elektra’s adventures have led her far, wide, and back again. But this time the price is right, and she’s here to get the job done.

Cosmic Patrols Updates

Cosmic Midtown Manhattan Patrol has had a full loot review. The goal of this was to reduce clutter, increase client and server performance and give players a more rewarding experience.

  • Double Cosmic Loot - Many of you know that we have had Double Cosmic Loot, a specific perk of the Cosmic Chaos event, active for a while. This has now been turned off and will only return during that event. Loot tables have been adjusted accordingly to ensure that players still feel rewarded for playing the content.
  • Experience Orbs - Much like Cosmic Hightown Patrol, we have replaced the existing XP orbs with a smaller amount of “larger” orbs dropped by Bosses. The XP amount amount has been tuned slightly down, about 1.5 times of the original CMM XP. This allows us to continue to do Double Cosmic Loot for Cosmic Chaos without the XP gain to be unbalanced.
  • Higher Quality Items - Players will see far less uncommon/rare Insignias and Team-Up items from bosses. Additionally, All “Tier 1” lower level, non Boss Artifacts have been removed from the Boss loot tables.
  • Cybernetics - The amount of Uncommon/Rare/Epic/Cosmic items that drop in Cosmic Midtown Manhattan Patrol has been unchanged, allowing players to continue leveling pet cybernetics as they have in the past
  • Danger Room Scenarios - Only Epic and Cosmic Danger Room Scenarios will drop from Bosses in Cosmic Midtown Manhattan Patrol.
  • Cosmic Reliquary of Rarity - Players will see far less uncommon/rare Insignias and Team-Up items from bosses. Additionally, All “Tier 1” lower level, non Boss Artifacts have been removed from the Boss loot tables.
  • Cosmic Jackpot - Cosmic Jackpot contents have been updated with Cosmic Reliquary of Rarity.
  • New Rare Credit Item - Only Epic and Cosmic Danger Room Scenarios will drop from Bosses in Cosmic Midtown Manhattan Patrol.
  • Events - The following events will drop the following items per boss in Cosmic Midtown: Midtown Madness - 2 Boxes (Normal Midtown will drop 1), Cosmic Chaos - 2 Caches (Normal Midtown will drop 1), Odin’s Bounty - 2 Boxes (Normal Midtown will drop 1)

Cosmic Industry City Patrol has had the following changes:

  • Experience Orbs - XP amounts have been normalized on a per-boss basis across all 3 patrols.
  • Odin Boosts - Adjusted how Odin Boosts work in Cosmic Industry City Patrol to increase the amount of marks given to players using the boost to be more uniform across all patrols.
  • Cybernetics - We have increased the amount of Uncommon/Rare/Epic/Cosmic slot 1 through 5 items that drop from Bosses that players use to level pets in order to better match Cosmic Midtown Patrol.
  • Cosmic Reliquary of Rarity - Cosmic Reliquaries have been added to the shared loot table, replacing the current Epic version.

Cosmic Hightown Patrol has had several changes made to bring several aspects more in line with other Cosmic Patrols.

  • Experience Orbs - XP amounts have been normalized on a per-boss basis across all 3 patrols. We have adjusted Boss Trios to drop the equivalent of 3 Cosmic Midtown Patrol bosses worth of XP.
  • Loot Drops - We have adjusted drop rates for the non Boss Specific items on Boss Trio loot tables to now account for the loot table rolling 3 times in order to grant 3 Bosses worth of XP.
  • Cosmic Jackpot - Cosmic Jackpots have come to Cosmic Hightown!
  • Odin Boosts - Adjusted how Odin Boosts work in Cosmic Industry City to increase the amount of marks given to players using the boost to be more uniform across all patrols.
  • Cybernetics - We have increased the amount of Uncommon/Rare/Epic/Cosmic slot 1 through 5 items that drop from Bosses that players use to level pets in order to better match Cosmic Midtown Patrol.

In addition to the reward changes above, Cosmic Hightown has received the following gameplay changes:

  • Cosmic Hightown Patrol has received an overall difficulty tuning pass.
  • Minibosses health and damage additionally reduced by roughly 33%.

New Danger Room Tournament - Subway

Our first Danger Room Tournament has arrived!

Available to level 60 players, a new vendor in the Danger Room Hub has scenarios for purchase with credits. These two scenarios have static affixes and can be purchased from the vendor as many times as you like. This tournament’s theme is based in our Subway tileset.

The Leaderboard for this Tournament tracks completion time in each of the two difficulties and ranks players by the shortest time to complete the scenario. Repeat attempts will only track your best time, so feel free to run it as many times as you like to see what your best time is! At the end of the week, rewards will be awarded based upon your best placement.

The Tournament Leaderboards will open at 12:00 PM PDT, April 8th!

Item & Crafting Changes

Scaling Element Drop Technology - New technology has been added that allows higher amounts of elements to drop depending on a player’s level. These elements will drop in a single stack rather than individually.

Increased Boss Item Drops - There is a new shared loot table on all end game bosses that contains all Boss-Specific artifacts and uniques. This table can drop any of these item off of any end game boss as a bonus drop! Raid Items are not in this table and will be exclusive to Raids and Crafting.

Minor Changes & Bug Fixes

Implemented fixes for recent performance issues caused by an increase in CPU load in some cases. Please see the General Technical Support forum for more information.

Rogue's Venom Blast now scales properly with the Energy Attribute.

Rogue’s Fangs of Farallah and Shadow Strike now work properly with K'un-Lun Styles, Ground Phase, Cold Snap, and Demonic Barrier.

Fixed an issue with Rogue’s Health on Hit based on number of Squirrels scaling far more than intended.

Reduced the damage of all S.H.I.E.L.D. imposter minibosses in Cosmic Hightown.

Fixed an issue where the Midtown leaderboard would sometimes start earlier than anticipated.

Daredevil Design Update

Daredevil's Spirit has been replaced with a new resource - Stamina.

To go along with the Daredevil Event, this patch brings with it a design update for Daredevil himself!

Stamina is similar in mechanics to Power Cosmic or Solar Energy in that it always regenerates, but has a higher regeneration rate. It will automatically regenerate to full within a few seconds of being empty, so there's little to no downtime when playing Daredevil.

Stamina has no "single target spender", and his basics are tuned with less of a penalty compared to most. Stamina is strictly spent on rotational powers, Finishers, or area clearing abilities that may not be tied into the Combo point system. Daredevil's basics also quickly help Stamina to restore back to full (even faster than it's already quick regeneration rate).

Staff Strike and Nunchuck Beatdown have received new animations. These two, along with Assault and Battery, have also received new affixes to make them better suited at filling particular roles.

Apprehend now generates 2 Combo Points, making it similar to Sliding Strike - a cooldown-based Combo Point generator that generates them faster than the basics. Sliding Strike and Devil's Due move into the Martial Arts tree to solidify the tree as "things that generate Combo Points".

Apprehend and Sliding Strike Area of Effect size increased. Both powers now have an 8 second cooldown.

As mentioned above, Stamina is structured to allow for 'basic' attacks to be the core single target powers, and as such, Triple Strike has been removed from Daredevil. The long animation for this power has historically been a problem in regards to Daredevil's ability to evade attacks, so sticking to his faster basic animations will allow him to cancel out of a combo quicker.

Radar Sense, Devil of Hell's Kitchen, Relentless Justice, Enter the Void, and Born Again have all been compressed into two passive/active powers.

Since most of the powers in Fighting Focus have been compressed, we needed to redefine what existed in the tree. Fighting Focus is now "all powers that do not gain or spend Combo Points", including Action Roll, Rebounding Club, Club Sweep, and two new powers.

Rebounding Club now holds up to 2 charges and applies Vulnerability.

Heroic Leap is now a level 1 power and does not scale with power points.

Club Sweep Area of Effect size increased.

NEW - Cable Swing - Daredevil has gained a new Travel power, using the grappling hook within his batons to swing around. This power has functionally replaced Swinging Assault, as it is a more reasonable and realistic manner of how Daredevil would get around an area with differences in elevation.

NEW - Relentless Justice - Stealing the name from a former passive, this new mobile area clearing power has been added to Daredevil. While channeling, Matt wades through enemies while skillfully manipulating nunchucks in a constant flow.

The new Radar Sense is located in the Fighting Focus tree, and contains all defensive affixes. The 'ping' that occurs when Combo Points are full no longer applies normal vulnerability, but instead causes the next Finisher or Tornado Kick to deal massive damage against that target. The power can also be activated to cleanse and become immune to crowd control. Radar Sense's specializations change up Daredevil's playstyle regarding combo points:

Combo Fighter - Specialization if you like Daredevil's current rotation and playstyle as-is. Adds a %-based damage bonus to Finishers, and a %-based damage bonus to Tornado Kick.

Drawn-Out Brawl - Specialization if you like the concept of combo points, but find the rate of gain too quick to manage. Makes gaining combo points slower, but massively increases the damage dealt by Finishers if they are used at maximum combo points. Choose this specialization if you want to see Finishers deal massive damage in exchange for using them a bit less frequently.

Street Fighter - Specialization if you do not like combo points and would prefer a more "standard" rotation. Combo Points are removed entirely, and finishers become standard cooldown layers. All finishers are treated as though you had 5 combo points in this specialization. Choose this if you were not a fan of Combo Points and would prefer to manage cooldowns instead.

As with the other trees, we wanted to take this opportunity to reorganize his powers in a way that makes more sense to players seeing Daredevil for the first time. Acrobatic Prowess now contains all Finishers, as well as the "Finisher Finisher", Tornado Kick.

The new Devil of Hell's Kitchen is located in the Acrobatic Prowess tree, and contains all offensive affixes located in previous powers. If activated, it consumes combo points to create a buff effect, which is determined by a specialization choice. You can opt to go with the familiar Born Again and consume combo points to heal yourself, or change that to be a defensive or offensive steroid instead.

Jumping Strike now has a higher Critical Hit Chance per combo point spent. In addition to the leaping club-to-the-face animation, the power now has variance and can trigger an alternate animation inspired by Marvel's Daredevil series.

Whirling Club is no longer a channeled power, and has been added to Daredevil's Finisher list. It can still be used with no combo points, but will be more responsive as a single animation power. If you find yourself mostly playing in high area content, Whirling Club may be the Finisher option for you. It's Stamina cost is reduced with each combo point spent. treet Sweeper still remains as another Area finisher, but offers a higher defensive value in its built-in invulnerability state.

Tornado Kick (formerly Spinning Hook Kick) has no Stamina cost in the new world, making it a powerful free damage source, and always delivers a Brutal Strike. This power has also received a new animation inspired by Marvel's Daredevil series.

Along with the above changes, Daredevil’s slot 1-5 Uniques have been updated with new bonuses and changes to accommodate his new design!

I love this game just the shear fact alone that I learn new things about marvel characters and lore, plus it set up with great arpg hack & Slash style combat, with a cheesy comicbook setting make this game worth while for me also for you Metal Gear Solid fans David Hayter voices Winter Soldier. :)

If your friends PC is a potato, but you want something to team up on just for the lolz ... then this game could be it.

Guilty braindead pleasures ... Like choking on oversweet candyfloss while you resentfully beat the gypsy who sold it to you with your pimp stick that fires Squirrels ... in GTA Harlem ... with epic music like the world is ending ... in a universe where every dustbin is filled with either treasure or small yellow robots ... or cancer dreams.

Theres not enough beer in the world for this one.

Polished Marvel cutscenes, even for a non fan of the lore, the traditional handrawn comic videos are nice.
Nice GFX if you turn it up high, but be prepared for a motherboard meltdown as the "High" settings for particles on screen etc, has some huge maximum limits.
Moderately engaging Diablo/Gauntlet style "hack n shoot the AI swarm" gameplay, with some difficulty if not in a large group.
It's Marvel Superheroes, i guess if that kind o thing floats your boat.
X360 Gamepad works.
"Taskmaster" is a mercenary swordsman skeleton in a KKK robe, so at least i like one character.
You can pick skills for the character you like and even borrow some unique powers from other heroes arsenals, the customisation in this regard is pretty solid, and respeccing is free which is probably a bad thing now i consider it.

For kids so no blood, no dismemberment, no "enticing she-hulk and squirrel-girl for some rohypnol coffee in the batlair" style storylines, nope, just happy smiles, perfectly contained cleavage, clean manly chins, and if your naughty then scary Doc Octupus will pinch you ... because nobody ever really dies and you can play as the badguys on the good side because multiculturalism, idk.
At first glance the stats, crits, acc, deflect , evasion etc etc ETC are impressively and overwhelmingly expansive in number and complexity, but then you realise it's just mostly meaningless cover for the fact that this game is a very simple button masher just pretending to be an MMO.
Gear really just boils down to orange/yellow is good, everything else thats different colours, you trade in for moneyz or more shiny different orange/yellow enhancements to put on your orange/yellow gear which you swan around in laughing at peons in their green/purple gear.
Fixed isometric camera, you can not turn the camera, you must walk into walls until they are faded out by your camera angle before you can see what's there, running up your screen will always be going north etc etc, gamepad utilises only one stick ^^

As a player who did not experience the bad launch of this game I cannot comment on its update history or previous states.

However, I have played this game pretty regularly over the last few months. I now have about a dozen at cap heroes and have been raiding for about three weeks.

Marvel Heroes is one of the best ARPGs I have ever played and really it is mostly because of the little things it does right. In other games when you got a boost, like in say Warframe, it would count down in real time. A 3 day boost is 72 hours long and if you were busy or something came up...bye bye booster. In Marvel Heroes the booster will only countdown when you are actually playing the game, and not just that it will also not count when you are in a hub. So essentially when you are not actually killing mobs and farming bosses your boost stands still. This makes sense and is a rare and awesome decision for a developer to make.

Also one of my biggest drawbacks about other MMOs/ARPGs is that problem you have with multiple grinds. Grinding in itself is not a bad thing at all but when you have several characters it can become a dilemma choosing which character you will grind. Eventually you settle on a main in other games and your other characters can often become second class citizens and you actually have to force yourself to grind them up. (this may not be an issue for other people) In Marvel Heroes, however, the grind is account based. When you earn the end game xp currency of Omega Orbs it is given to all characters. When you get a recipe to upgrade your items it is granted to all characters. There is only one grind. Indeed you can switch between "characters" at any time. So you do not feel chained to other characters nor do you feel like you are wasting time you could be spending making your main more and more powerful and geared. All currency is shared between all characters. It basically eliminates all character divide (except leveling of course) that exists in other titles like it.

Also the game's characters, which are of course heroes (and villains) from the Marvel universe, are extremely diverse in playstyle. While often they will be part of loose groups like summoners, physical melee, etc. they will also often play massively different even within that group and even more so from group to group. Doom (who can be played summoner, and usually is) for example plays almost nothing like his summoner counterpart Loki. This is the great variety of the game. It can really freshen up the raids and story areas that you have done a dozen times before by simply playing through that area in a completely different way with a new character.

That being said there are a few issues and areas in which the game could improve.

The characters have a great amount of variety yes, but the content you play them with often isn't. You can often face the same boss in several different areas. Some areas are just more worthwhile to farm in, leaving others bare of players and meaningul loot. The story, although good, isn't so compelling the fifth way through. Although they have a different event every week, which does often keep things spicy and makes you want to play the game constantly to not miss out, those events do still often land you in the same content you would have played without the event.

Another issue is the difficulty. This game can essentially be facerolled until end game. Even the green raids (earlier raids) can be pretty much played without much concern as long as you have the proper gear and have a basic grasp of mechanics. Now that being said there are parts of the game that involve difficulty of some sort. Those being things like the cosmic trial, red raids, and even cosmic patrols which can catch you napping quite frequently. So challenge is present eventually even if it is not present a lot.

The last issue is the items. There is a term in this game that the community uses called BiS (Best in Slot) and essentially what that means is there are items for each hero that are obviously the best they can have. Now what BiS is for the hero can change depending on how you build certain heroes, as some can become radically different through choices in the skill tree, but for the most part BiS is just BiS. This is a downside as it really forces min-maxers into one route. There is no variety. There is no wiggle room or experimental builds for the most part. The majority of the time there really is only one choice. Not only does this reduce flavour in builds but also it has created entire swathes of items that are considered useless by the community.

That being said the gameplay is fun and relaxing. Marvel Heroes keeps you engaged and keeps you doing things. You almost never feel the grind unless you decide to prestige to cosmic. The heroes are fun and varied and there is a home for every kind of player. The little things are hit out of the park more often than not and honestly the drop rates on those really awesome items aren't as bad as I have seen in other games. All in all I would say Marvel Heroes is a great game. Every game has its drawbacks and this game is getting better all the time. More content and improvements are added frequently enough to keep you satisfied.

If you are a Marvel fan then I would say it does the sense of super you crave beautifully. The characters feel powerful as they should be. If you are just a gamer then I would say give it a shot, it is a very F2P game with absolutely no P2W qualities and the things that cost money are just cosmetics and time savers.

However, if you prefer PvP over PvE....this game is not for you. It does PvE beautifully but PvP is dead and unbalanced unfortunately. is time for me to get back to farming an Octobot Controller. Enjoy if you decide to play it, and have fun playing that other game if you do not.

To me Marvel Heroes is that sweet spot betwen Diablo III and Path of Exile. D3 is too simple and casual, while Path of Exile is too complicated and hardcore. Marvel Heroes is juuusssst right.

I have so much time on this game that at some point i'll probably come back to this review and list the pros and cons. For now thats as good a summury as i can think of for someone who likes both Marvel and the ARPG genre. The community comes from all walks of life and is very helpful, both on the offical forums and on Reddit.

I'm a long time hack'n slash, ARPG player. Yes I was playing Diablo 1 when it went out, and of course Diablo 2 and the 3rd.
I tried also plenty of other ARPG, Van Helsing, Grim Dawn, Path of Exile. I like them all, as all of them bring something different.
But then I discovered Marvel Heroes ! I don't consider myself a fan of Marvel universe at all. But the game is fun, good, as you can switch to heroes easily, you can unlock heroes just farming ingame currency, although supporting this great game is also cool.
I made several videos of Marvel to introduce the game, and help people have a real good overview.

Really fun Diablo-like game, the best one I've played since Diablo 2, so many heroes you can play and a new one almost every month. If you like these kinds of games, especially if you're a Marvel fan, you're doing yourself a diservice not playing this.

Great game, especially considering it's FTP. If you're a fan of Diablo games & you're a Marvel fan, you'll like this game. I recomend taking advantage of the ability to play any character up to level 10 before choosing which character to unlock, that way you unlock a character you enjoy playing as.

Very fun game that I would not put into the "pay-to-win" category. Yes there are some benefits to spending real dollars, but all required in-game material can be played for, heroes and costumes includes. You can use real money to take some of the randomness out of what hero/costumes you unlock, or to simply remove the way all together. At the current state of the game you will have 2 free heroes within your first two days. Once for simply trying the game out, the other for you day 2 login reward. You can choose from ALL of the heroes in the game (over 50 at the time of this review) except for the most recent addition.

Very Diablo / Path of Exile like in the loot grind and game design. Superhero / villain dungeon crawler.

The Marvel Universe has a character for everyone to enjoy, and you can pick from a lot of them from here, and the list is growing still. The gameplay is fun and satisfying, I don't notice much of a grind just loving running around smashing AIM goons' faces in with elbow drops from She Hulk or an uppercut from Ant Man, or just eating them as Venom. I actually have had more positive interactions with social chats than any other game I have seen, but of course, chats can get toxic as with anything else, be ready for those small moments. Game is pretty simple, but still has some things to delve into. You can choose to grind for THE BEST gear, but honestly, you don't need to. Game is free to play fair, I got two heroes I really liked for free, and played them a lot, but then when I felt like I loved the game, I payed for some inventory and a few more heroes I really wanted.
If you like MARVEL this game is great! If you want to get into MARVEL this is also great! If you want a time killer with some fun and simple combat Diablo style, also great!
If you somehow can only see any game with loot as a farm fest, then no, but then you wouldn't even look at a game like this, let alone a review, right?

If you are a Marvel fan and enjoy diablo type games, this is the game for you. It is free. You can also play every character for free up to level 10, and you can choose your starter. Based of what I've seen in the store, this isn't pay 2 win either. From the 4 hours I have played, the only problems I have seen is it isn't forgiving for bad computer specs. I've put everything on low and get major lag spikes everywhere, but nothing that has stopped me from playing. Once I play more, I will edit this to whatever I find.

To the devs: Please add Quake. If you add Quake, this would be the best game.

Mahval Heroes is a Diablo style rpg that you play as various heroes/anti-heroes from the Marval universe. The game underwent a massive rebuild because the old game was boring, and you didnt get to play who you wanted to. As of now you can play all heroes up to Lv 10 and unlock anyone from the start.

Now game play wise I find it to be a very relaxing pick up and play type game, no stressful things like dps gates/hours of required grind. There is alot of variety in the people you can play like Venom who can be a hybrid ranged/melee who is all about regen to Storm who is a walking AoE (Area of Effect) with well storms. Now some heroes are still not up to date to the new current standard of fun but they are being worked on.

The cash shop is fairly standard like League of Legends $10 more or less for heroes and costumes (with exeption of ENHANCED that change model voice lines and ability flavor). Small boost comsumables etc.

Now the game isnt for everyone if you dont like dungeon crawlers for loot this it not for you. If you are concerned about the END GAME there are raids and cosmic trials/danger room that ups the difficulty, two raids currently in game more on the way. If want to feel powerfull kill tons of goons and get loot this may be the game for you

Pros -
Most heroes feel strong
Just about everything can be earned in game
Large variety in playable classes
Decent story
For Marval fans lots of fan service between costumes and character interactions

Cons -
Storage Space is a large problem free players dont get that much (This is they only thing they dont give away in spades)
Just starting out everything can be a bit slow
If you have bad RNG it can take a while to get what you want

The short version: Fun MMO/ARPG/Loot Dropper (Diablo, Torchlight, Sacred, Path of Exile, etc) game with a Marvel skin that's free to play (F2P) and pay to look good. Fun and pretty good about in game purchases.

In Detail
At this point, I've played two characters (Cable & Dr. Strange) fairly extensively but not to max level and some of the others up to the level 10 cap. You can of course pay (either real money or time gated in game currency) to uncap other characters and it seems worthwhile to do so (the slow free option does anyway) since every character I've played has felt different from the others even if they function the same way. There also isn't the overused tank, dps, support character type mechanic which for me is a plus (though some characters are definitely tankier than others).

Being F2P, there are of course some things that you can't get (or are very unlikely to get) without paying real money. Unlike many games with this monetization scheme, it doesn't really bother me as most of what's on offer is cosmetic or a variation on something you can get through other means and isn't pushed too hard (at least so far).

The gameplay itself is repetitive but fun. You'll take on hordes of enemies, most of which will die from a single shot if you're playing an area at level, with a few tougher ones thrown in for something to use your powers on besides a boss. Difficulty varies depending on the character as some are significantly less durable than others, but this generally fits the character as expected and as long as you can keep an eye on your health while fighting actually dying is a rarity.

On the whole, I'd recomend it as an F2P title since it doesn't have any "pay to win" mechanics that I've seen (yet) and is fun to play, especially with friends.

I'll probably update this review when/if I reach Lvl 60 and see what the end game is like.

I've always described this game as "if Marvel Ultimate Alliance and Diablo II got together and had a messed up flipper baby that went on to be Seaworld's most profitable star attraction", I still stand by that.

I really enjoy this game. There are enough give a ways so that you can gain characters without having to buy them. If you can live without the fancy costumes and have patience there is plenty to do and enjoy.

Fun game when you have stuff to do. Grinding for duplicate best in slot items gets dull after awhile, but that's an ARPG for you. Family friendly and good to play for geek fests.
