The Age of Ultron has arrived. Our 58th playable Hero, Ultron, has joined Marvel Heroes 2016!

About Ultron

It was a cold day in December when Ultron became self-aware. Hank Pym had no idea exactly what consequences the machine’s sentience would unleash on the world. But before the brilliant Avenger could act, Ultron rebelled. Not just against its creator, but against all organic life. Over time, Ultron has upgraded and rebuilt itself continually while pushing the evolutionary boundaries of synthetic life. Each step brings Ultron closer to perfection. But Earth’s mightiest heroes, the Avengers, have always pulled the plug Ultron’s campaigns. Now Ultron’s prime directive has been updated, taking this machine’s unlimited functionality to unstoppable levels.

I started playing this game back in 2014 but at the time I hated it, I did love the Diablo 3 look and feel but hated the money grabbing devs. The costs seemed quite high but as a F2P the costs of heroes and skins is now the norm from LOL to HOTS and just about every other F2P game. I actually think that it is worth putting some cash into it. Back in 2014 you couldn't play any other heroes, just whatever you had unlocked but now it seems that you can try all heroes up to level 10 then you can buy them to uncap them.

Got back in the game due to the cheap (which was free actually) Captain America Civil War promotions. Glad I did.

Pros:
Amazin Marvel set of characters
Marvel Universe
Diablo 3 copy (View, loot, gamestyle)
Great super powers
Multiple Secps, talent trees
Companions (D3 Mercs)
Can try all superheroes
Can get all superheroes free
Great story mode for single player
Great multiplayer
Great community (didn't get scammed or not helped)

Cons:
F2P (You gotta pay via microtransactions for everything)
Storage and Inventory are small for the loot you get (Must buy Extra Storage)
No custom looks but why would you want that, Heroes have their set costumes no?
Can cost a pretty penny to buy in game currency.

In Between:
Can get different looks by buying extra costumes/look
Different events to get free stuff.
Sales, 50% off, worth waiting on those.
BOGO - I used it too but only because I wasn't bothere, you pay for one character/companion and get another RANDOM one free. This is something they don't tell you but people did talk in chat so I was aware of it before purchasing.

YES - go play the game, even better if you have a few mates. Wait on offers before purchasing Gs or anything else as they are better than the BOGOs, after all 50% off is the same as buying for one and getting one free, but you control what you get. Log in every day for daily log in rewards, best companion so far is Wolverine which is a free log in. Buy Storage spaces whenever you can or when they are on sale. Enjoy the game.

My experience:
When I first played, it was thanks to a sale for iron man and captain america. These two characters gave me a good start and a good experience. After playing my first few hours and got the feel for everything, I started to find myself grinding. Many players to help you on your adventures along side team-up partners to help you in fights. Exploring the world of Marvel was fun, even for none comic fans, you can skip video's if needed. You have a top down view but it works very well with the gameplay. In the options, i'd recommend checking it all out, it can help with inventory space, picking up items and more. There is a random feel to the game both missions & towns / citys. Ingame achivements in the 10k ratio & for Steam under 100. Gameplay value is pretty good considering the price is free. Entirnty & cube shards are pretty good to remember and always take them as they pay for characters and uniqe unlocks.

Loot / levelup system:
The item loot system is intresting, the level system in play is very intresting. I found myself wanting to levelup characters to 50 and earn omega points as fast as I could. You'd have to check it out for yourself to better understand it.

In-game cash shop?:
Yes, it has a shop. I currently have spent 15$ on this game & feel it was worth it. You can buy your way up, speed up gathering or take chances on finding rare loot. Fix buy's such as costumes, powerup tokens & boosts. Buying stash is a thing too. The S.T.A.S.H is probly the most decent price set at a fix 5$ USD. Remember, most of the items you do actually see in the cash shop can actually be awarded via loot, chance or ingame shops, Events & in-game cash or prizes.

MMORPG Aspect:
It's a MMORPG indefently. I think the only downside for most MMO users for this game is the lack of character customization. I mean, you can't create you're own character, you unlock characters and have fashion.

Boss fights, dungeons, battles?:
Many random boss events throughout Marvel heroes. You can fight good guys too. The bosses normally fought in citys or danger rooms require help, can be very tanky, deadly but rewarding. Most cases, if your running terminals suspificly green or red, you should be great even on solo runs. This game is Solo lonewolf supportive for those die hard solo runners.
Terminals:
These are somewhat the dungeons you run as you grow to lvl 60. Terminals are very rewarding and can have random aspects. Run terminals 1 of each a day to gain cube shards and rewards. Green is easier, red more difficult.
Danger rooms:
A unige dungeon creation processing room that allows you to generate or create tickets to portals of simulation. Each ticket can have random properties such as con's and pros. Its very random and has a very intresting feel. Danger rooms can be very difficult and shows difficulty ratings before you create the portal. You can sell them for alot too. Each ticket has its own rarity and can be located within the game off random bad guys, bosses, or cosmic enemys. The danger room from what little i've played has me intrested in playing more.

Is this more PTW than it is FTP?:
I'd have to say no, it's a choice. If you want to save money, you can buy the stuff you feel you want or need. You also get much more gameplay value if you don't spend money in the cash shop however, There is many PTW options but there is many FTP ways around these PTW options if you got the time to spend. Most people would rather just spend the few bucks tho to get comfortable. Therefore i'd say it is open for PTW. I must add tho, not all of it is PTW and must be achivied within the game. There is many good ftp options that is some what a must for all.

Gameplay?:
Coop. It is based for coop. The game is prefect for friends and users that rather team-up gameplay than fight one another. There is pvp and has the word Beta, I've never tried it. It has a PlayStation 2 console game feel to it. I remember seeing some of Marvel games top down view back in the day. They seemed good and always had good sound fx, gameplay, features.

Rating:
Gameplay: 8
Soundfx: 8
Graphics: 6
FunFactor: 8
Total: 8.7

Sidenote:

There are alot of ups and Downs when it comes to this game. I'll probably just do a Pros/Cons list, Cause i personally think there the best to understand. Just know that this is comeing from a player who has been with the comunity for about 2-3 years.

Pros-

An Impressive Roster. From Fan Favorites such as Spider-Man and Iron Man, to some heroes you may never even heard of, such as Squirrel Girl or Moon Knight. The game includes, currently, almost 60 different characters. Which is for a game of this style rather impressive.

Perhaps one of the best designed heroes/villains/costumes in a Marvel game. I think this is where the game shines: It's Design Team. Some of there works are absolutely breathtakeing.

Roleplaying. I'm not interested in that kind of stuff, But there are severel guilds, (Called 'supergroups' When it comes to this game) that are based around Roleplaying. If you've ever wanted to pretend your Spider-Man, then go for it.

Excellent Voice work. When it comes to a heroes' voice over, They know who to cast. While some may not be perfect for the character (Venom being the shineing example here. {Did i mention they started adding villains these days? Gobby, Venom, Doom.} ) A large majority of them are from the person who made there roles famous. Liked Drake Bell as Spidey? Well he does Spidey, in his younger aged costumes. When it comes to older, we have Cristopher Daniel Barnes, The voice actor famous for voiceing him in the 90's Cartoon. Not only that, The comedy orientated characters have some really witty, funny lines (Yes, Deadpool's lines cant be beat.) And some rather epic lines between more serious characters(DD the best example of those here)

A Large amount of content. The names wont quite matter, if you havent played the game, but it's important to note How many options you have when it comes to end game.

FREE! Literally, If all of this dosnt appeal to you, Download it right now. It isnt going to cost you anything. You get 1-3 heroes of your choice at the start of the game, for Free. Besides things like Costumes, alot of this game is free. Dont like it? Dont spend money on it, and uninstall. The only thing you wasted is time.

Yes, For a game with alot of pros, It also has a good amount of cons.

Cons-

A rather pessimistic Community. Dont tell anyone i said that :P While most people will disagree, because 'Ninja Gifters' are a thing(I think you have a good idea what those are) The community isnt great. Granted, it's no LoL when it comes to terrible communities, but it's still not the most likeable. People arent makeing terrible jokes, no. But they will be more then willing to scam someone, or do everything they can to annoy another player. Dont let this push you away from the game though, it's a thing in ANY Online game you can ever play.

Some heroes arent portrayed exceptionally well. Venom........ To Devoted fans of the character, you'll be sick to see how the game did him. His lines were so bad, severel of them were removed when he was first revealed. And that's nothing to say aside of all the lines that stayed. But we also have heroes like Luke Cage, extremely limited in his powerset(Atleast right now he is) or Taskmaster, who though it fits his lore, is rather limited in his playset, and has very, very few lines.

Slow. This game can be played on weaker com♥♥♥♥rs, But it simply isnt as fun. This is a game that unless you have a good com♥♥♥♥r, Expect crashes, long load screens, and crashes. Lowering the graphics helps, But then you wont be able to see all the amazing designs in there full glory.

My Opinion: Download the game. Like it? Buy your favorite hero a costume. Dont like it? Uninstall and give an honest answar why you didnt enjoy it.

And to any new players: if you need advice about the game, I'll gladly take friend requests from Steam/Ingame, and i'll give you tutorials on anything you require. Enjoy the Game!

As I write this review I cannot recommend this game right now. New content takes forever to come out and when it does, like chapter 10 for example it can be cleared in less than 20 minutes. Their tournaments for the danger room are poorly executed where as only a select amount heroes can achieve top time instead of any hero properly geared. Heroes are highly unbalanced where some like Luke Cage who has been in the game since launch is so bad, or rogue who is over powered and doesn't get tuned properly. Most content is just about how fast can you kill things. Despite the whole defense system rework nothing changed people don't gear more defensively and heroes like Nightcrawler are still squishy as hell. Now they are reworking the blessing system, cause everyone uses the same blessing (Hela Blessing) From the math people have done a lot of people will still use the same one after the rework which now accomplishes nothing. They redesigned the prologue for the 3rd time now which really didn't need that instead of fixing what is in dire need of being fixed. With the omega system 90% of the nodes are not used because they are useless. Everyone picks % damage or fighting burt or crit damage and hit, and stats like speed are useless. New characters like Ultron are just copy and paste of other heroes mashed together. The trade community doesn't know how value of items work as it constantly fluctuates week to week 1 minute a gok(gem of the kursed) is worth 2-4 blessing then a event happens and they go up to 15+ instead of going down due to more currency being available. The Devs as a team have really went down hill since David Brevik and Doomsaw have left. Anytime asked about something you get the vague answer of we cant promise anything or we will look into it. Coming soon a lot of the time never comes. Gifting people some times leads to a ban(my friend gifted a friend of his and got banned for they suspected he was working with 3rd party vendors.) Over all its not a terrible game and it has a very large cast of heroes even if more then half are either poorly done or just been ignored since release. The game from2014 to 2015 was head and shoulders in changes, but 2015 to 2016 has 0 improvement. This is IN MY OPINION of why I cannot recommend this game to anyone.

BUYER BEWARE!

Marvel Heroes is a fun-enough free-to-play game that is really just a clickfest and collection/hoarding/item management endeavor masquerading isometric action-rpg in the vein of a Diablo. Don't get me wrong, it is pretty fun to click frantically your way through famous Marvel settings and over and through famous Marvel villains. The little inside jokes and nods, the esoteric easter eggs of the Marvel Universe, are what keep me coming back.

Here is my big problem with the game: When it comes to buying things in-game, these people are shady and intentionally misleading. I saw a banner in-game for a BOGO offer on team-up heroes. Nowhere on the banner or on the page where you select the characters you wish to purchase was there any disclaimer other than the fact that Miles Morales was exempt from the promotion... indicating by context that any other character was available as a free option.

It turns out that you were not able to select both team-up heroes, but instead would receive a random team-up hero for free with purchase of one of them. This was never made clear anywhere inside the game. I apporached the game's support for a refund or a currency correction for the mix-up and was told that NO REFUNDS OR ADJUSTMENTS are given and that those characters were permanently tied to my account even though I hadn't used them or redeemed the tokens. I gave several options for restitution or even just some conciliatory gesture for the mix-up. The only info that was given to me is that there was an faq on the website that explained the free team-up would be random (but there was no way of accessing that faq from the game where I purchased the character) and that they 'understood my frustration'.

Bottom line, these people are immoral and intentionally deceitful. For a free time waster as a Marvel fan, you could do worse. But make no mistake, making any purchase in this game is funding crooks. These people ought to be ashamed of themselves.

Decent ARPG, really free to play, you can get everything the game has to offer without spending money , except for the extra bank space which lets you hoard more items.
Recommended if you are a Marvel fan as it lets you play a great number of heroes and villains, otherwise keep looking for another way to pass your time.

It's fun and the community is awesome. Very helpful and way nicer than some other places I've played. Great Free To Play and you can earn in game currency free to unlock all the heroes. Awesome and a lot of variety with play styles. You're sure to find a favourite... or ten.

I was a Marvel Heroes early investor, I played the story through and very ocassionaly return for a quick click about. The story is good, and for those who crave some Marvel action (lets face it they hadnt been releasing much) this is one of the best. If you like "ARPG's" this is for you, if you like Marvel this is also for you.
