About This Game

Prove you are the world's greatest swordsman in Blade Symphony: a slash-em-up featuring a highly detailed and in-depth sword fighting system. Face down other players in tactical swordplay, 2 versus 2 team duels, sandbox FFA, or the Control Points game mode!

Choose your fighting style

Each of the four characters have a unique fighting style suited to how you want to play.
  • Phalanx, a fencer gladiator hybrid, attacks with long range stabs and a versatile array of side attacks
  • Judgement, a knight crossed with a samurai, uses hard hitting forward attacks and wide strafing attacks
  • Ryoku, a vagrant street ninja, attacks with break dance moves and a signature reverse blade style
  • Pure, an acrobatic wushu style assassin that attacks with flips, cartwheels, extremely mobile

Each character has four combat stances and over forty different attacks.

Choose Your Sword

Pair your character up with a sword type to completely change your way of approaching combat.
  • Katana, cause massive damage when parrying your opponents
  • Longsword, a well-balanced, hard hitting and adaptable sword
  • Rapier, a piercing, high damage forward thrusting weapon great for parrying
  • Scimitar, a weapon based on turning and performing as many cuts as possible
  • Jian, an agile, responsive weapon great for combos

Tactical Sword Fighting

There are no unlockable advantages in Blade Symphony. All unlockables are cosmetic. You care about proving your skill and so should your game.

Every attack has openings that are determined in real-time and efficacy is entirely up to you. Did you start an attack too early? Turn away and end the attack in a safe location. Did your opponent stupidly use a lighter stance? Go in and punish him! By switching stances mid-combo you can chain attacks into your own flurry of death.

The fighting system is open for your exploration, you can dash, jump, do an air attack, land, swing sideways with a heavy stance, parry with a light stance, and then roll away.

Every attack flows from your blade in true three dimensional space. As does your opponents! Swords collide in mid-air and you will need good timing and aim to defeat your opponent.

Advanced Character Customization

Customize your character with skins, masks, swords, and multiple attachments streamed directly from Steam Workshop.

Fight as a Team

Play in the new Control Points game mode and participate in team-based sword fighting.

I have a rival, whenever I'm on we duel. It's a game like that. We are friends now.

I can't say that I've ever played a more challenging game. You have to find out how to make your own strategy. You must learn your battlefield, and kill your foe strategically.

Get this game since it's cheep af right now, and if you don't like it, you only lost 4 bucks.

This game is very funny. I tried it out when it was free at weekend and i can say that i love it. I bought it for 3.47 or something like that so I can improve.

For everyone who likes being a little bit competitive sometimes and wants to see progress in his work : Go buy it! The game doesn't really "help" u to get in the game. Tutorial gives u the basics and the Training sessions with bots are boring and easy. But as soon as u enter a server u will love it. U'll search for competetors and duel one after another. You will improve by every mistake and it won't get boring that fast, because everyone got his own fighting style... some go more agressive some stay more defensively ; sure u will say right now " then there are noobs who take forfeits in sitting in one corner" , and i can easily say that this is not true. Why u may ask? The game gives u everything u need to take or make forfeits. U can win every (EVERY) fight. I play with my brothers and friends and we compete with each other and others on the internet. The game is worth it's cost so go ahead and buy it.

I picked this game up today. I am already a self proclaimed master, so if you see me in-game I will slice you, dice you, and hurt your bum. If you so happen to beat me, I will get my dad, and he will beat you up. This game is like an all pvp dark souls with a metal gear revengeance-esque hack and slash. In all honesty Blade Symphony has a humble, mature community of decently experienced and helpful individuals. So git gud scrublord..

Have you ever wanted a game where you can use real strategy to defeat your enemies, where it's just as important to help a team or to study an opponent's movements?

Don't listen to all the people who 'just don't like it' or think it's 'just another hack and slash'. They've played it about an hour max. This is amazing once you start to understand it, far beyond what a lot of people are giving it. There's options in game modes, large communities, teams, enemies, all that jazz. Just play it. If it's on sale, you need to buy it, and play it for a while. It's worth it.

It's a game with swords, and you kill things, and then they die because you killed them. Pretty damn fun. If you want an in depth review, scroll down a bit more. Or up. Your choice.

Blade Symphony, This game is absolutely incredible. The graphics of this game are on par if not better than any AAA title game this year. This game strives in realism, the combat and graphics alike. It is like being in a real life sword fight, as a medieval sword fighting enthusiast and reenactor I believe I have the expertise to say that this is a very realistic game. If you don't have the money to own a sword collection like myself this game is a great substitute, the swords on the workshop are all so realistic and people must of taken months if not years to design them.

This game is just incredible so many different game modes to play and so many realistic sword fighting moves/techniques to use, I love playing this in the winter as my fellow reenactors don't like going out in the winter. Thank you for making this amazing game I love every aspect of it, if you don't buy this game you will regret it for the rest of your life.

I've only played this game for a few hours, but dueling a messing around with friends has made this game worth the $16. Except I payed $4 for it. This game has workshop support with tons of weapons and character customization. I fully recommend to buy this game riiiight now because the 75% discount. If you aren't poor, $4 is nothing.

Short story: if you appreciate swordfighting games even in the slightest, this is the game to get to fulfil that.

Long story: combinations, skills, appearance, community.

I will summarise basically everything in this game, so you might consider it spoiling, but this sort of game doesn't have a story mode nor secret things (as far as I know)(yet...).

If you want to know, some or all terminology I use here is made up on the spot, but makes sense.

There exists a tremendous amount of combos, due to the different features of a sword strike that you can combine. There's the usual light/medium/heavy attacks (delivered in the form of 'stances'), and each wieght of attack having its own string. But this game brings in charging attacks (not running in, but hold to power up), side movement modifier, other side movement modifier, and even aerial modifier, with complete freedom of flow from one piece of combo to another piece (save for string in weight). In addition, there is blocking, grappling (don't worry not spam to win), and parrying.

Each character (only four) has their own move set. There are five types of sword: longsword, katana, rapier, jian, scimitar, each with their own stats and 'block' tehnique. That is, the mouse right-click is the generic button for alternative sword use, with most sword types providing an actual block, but some only a 'guard', fient, or deflect.

Other than that, there is knowledge and skill - oh, and appearance. It is very much a skill based game, but obviously learning each character's set of moves helps a lot. As for the aesthetic side, graphics are good (I always run at minimum on games like this so as to minimise slow down and lag), maps are great (especially the free for all maps), and the Workshop is widely used to create new swords (not new types of swords), new maps, and new character skins (all free and easy to get your hands on). Oh, yeah, and great soundtrack that really fits/sets the game style.

The community is very good. Lots of helpful people who value chivalry and honour. Admittedly, I have only played during the free weekend (weekend), but the non-free weekend (weekend) players were obvious compared to the free weekend (weekend) players, due to ranking. Gosh, that was a mouthful.

And that's it. Very much arena fighting game (1v1, 1v2, 2v2, FFA, Capture Points) with an elegant combat system. So, not quite worth full game price unless multiplayer is your focus in games. At 75% off though, I think everyone should get it.

A really ♥♥♥♥ing cool melee fighting game with a beautiful soundtrack. Of course, there is room for improvement here. But still, it's good for what it is. Blade Symphony has a very nice and polite community and so far it is really fun to play. The soundtrack is also really ♥♥♥♥ing great. I highly recommend this game if you're looking for a fun melee combat game.

- It should be noted before anything that this game is on my wish list and I played it while it lasts on Free Weekend Weekend promotion so I'm glad I got a chance to try it -

...quite an interesting game although the game looks simple is quite challenging to master, so you need to play it a few couple of hours to become good swordsman. The game is arena duels multiplayer-oriented and looks fast paced, the dodging looks good, moving around feels fluid and the concept itself seems good. But when you get down to attacking and striking your opponent looks sluggish and slow. I'm no expert on sword styles but I'd love to learn the actual styles of the swords you use rather than just "here have a japanese katana now, go ahead and swing it around" e.g. katanas are two handed swords, don't wield a katana with one hand!
Unfortunately, the game has limited characters and personally I got the impression that classes are unbalanced, on the other hand game looks pretty, you can play with keyboard and mouse with no problem and the game has nice community.

Very awesome sword-fighting game. Tutorial teaches you the basics but the game has quite a deep combat system that will undoubtedly take a lot of practice to truly master. Combat has moments of slow and fast-paced action, with the focus of the game being around 1v1 and 2v2 dueling, as well as a FFA mode which is good for beginners. Each weapon and each character has its own style of fighting and combat is very direction-based. It requires strategy, thought and observation if you want to be great at it. The game's graphics are very nice and animation quality is top-notch. You can do a lot of very cool moves, from wall-running and jumping to combos and power attacks. There is a lot of room for community input, along with steam workshop integration. You can customise your characters and unlock various cosmetic skins for both weapons and armour.

Blade Symphony. This game is awesome, for 3 dollars, a steal. (NOTE: YEAH. ONLY 3 HRS. SO FAR, BUT I'M PRETTY SURE I KNOW WHATS UP.)

+ Pros

+ Nice Graphics
+ Fun Gameplay
+ Nice Community
+ Fun Gamemodes
+ Pretty Good Tutorial
+ Workshop Support
+ Alright Optimization

- Cons

- Funky Controls
- Needs Better Controller Support/A Little Effy.
- Combat Needs A Little Shape Up, Although Fairly Good.
- Not Enough Singerplayer Options
- 4 Characters
- Couple Maps.
- The Graphical Options Need To Be Improved.

Overally, it is a fantastic game. Totally worth a buy, make sure you check it out!

At its very core, Blade Symphony is a simple game, and that's what makes it great.
The selection of characters is somewhat limited, but each one coupled with the different weapon types means that there are a multitude of options available to players right from the beginning.

Combat is relatively exciting as well, since you have to anticipate and respond to your enemy's selections and actions.
Every exchange is unique, as the attack-chain system allows you to combine multiple different stances into one, fluid attack.
Sure, there are some kinks in the system that need ironing out, but the overall feeling is that the developers have created a very polished game - even at this stage of development.

I don't write reviews often because they are a waste of time, so take this review into great thought:

This is the greatest game that was ever made, there will never be anything like it again, and there will never been anything that is better in its genre.

Basically you can either go and ♥♥♥♥ someone up in a 1v1 duel, based in a very sexy looking source-engine map, or you can play one of the other gamemodes that include FFA, which is a literally sandbox, where you can engage with anyone that you see, or you can simply parkour around the map like a true ♥♥♥♥ing ninja that you are. You can sit, taunt, and do everything else you want.

The graphics are sick as ♥♥♥♥, and not to mention it has full workshop capability. It has one of the nicest communities out there, and there are plenty of people that will help you learn the game, and master it all the same.

Buy the game. ♥♥♥♥ing ♥♥♥♥.
