A visual masterpiece unlike any other... An experience rather than a game, Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons takes its audience on a fantastical journey of loss and courage. With an emotional storyline placed within stunning landscapes flooded in vibrant lighting, Fares and Starbreeze perfectly combine single player co-op in the fantasy adventure of a lifetime. Rather simple in gameplay, both players who prefer casual and exciting gameplay will find something to enjoy. Players are faced with a variety of puzzels throughout their journey and also discover amusing (and depressing) achievements along the way. Chapters include beautifully animated cut-scenes that tug at the heartstrings. Gameplay will only last a few hours, but will leave players yearning for another day to play through this wonderful story.

A beautiful game with very nice BGM and graphics, full of feelings, sometimes you'll find yourself afraid, sometimes happy, sometimes sad, even tho I cleared it in one sitting, I still almost cried out loud at the ending, but really the little brother did grow stronger, both physically and mentally. I also plan on replaying this game a few more times, maybe not completely but some chapters in it, that;s how good it was to me.

How do you tell a story without uttering a single word?

I cannot explain what I felt when I finished this game, no its not a game, its more. Its not a simple puzzle or story-driven video game. Its a journey.

I recommend this to everyone.

This is going to be nice and brief.
One of the best gaming experiences I've ever had. None of the characters speak one english word, and I felt completely tied in with all of them. The bond between the two brothers is very easy to connect to. That feeling had me glued to my computer, and I couldnt stop playing. I bought this on sale for 2 dollars and I will be replaying it. Buy this now for the steal that it is.

The control's actually not complicated at all. Scenery, music, storyline, puzzles... everything's good. Only that I didn't expect a non-typical happy ending for such a fairy tale, which probably made it an even better game.
(The single confusing part was the fight against the spider. Took me some time.)

Short and beautiful. This game shows that you can tell a story without words, just through the world and the gameplay.
You probably already know it by now, but play this with a controller instead of a mouse+keyboard. It adds to the experience.

This game messed me up. 10/10

It was a short but beautiful story about two brothers finding medicine for their sick dad. I called the young men Righty and Lefty. There were a wide variety of strong atmospheres, and they could change unexpectedly. The graphics were phenominal. Rather than focusing on realism, the developers wove a beautiful story through the whimsical aesthetic. Somehow the same song, which played during key moments, was able to take on so many different moods. It could be glorious or sorrowful, but it never changed. The use of the control scheme to further the story and feed the player emotions was extremely well done. Its a great game, and anyone with a gamepad should buy it, especially on sale.

Also, the game itself is amazing. Even if you severely dislike story-based games, don't worry. The developers didn't sacrifice good gameplay for storytelling. I didn't expect this game to be difficult, but it had a nice challenge, and I found it very fun.

tl;dr
This game may be short, but it has perfect graphics, music, and gameplay, and anyone with a gamepad should be ashamed to not have it.

There is and will never be a platformer as emotionally devastating as Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons. Truly, it is a remarkable experience that won't hit you where it hurts until it needs to.

● Superb storytelling.
● Lovely visuals.
● Simple but interesting puzzles.
● Subtle but pleasant soundtrack.
● And perhaps most importantly: innovative gameplay mechanic which ties the controls to the narrative.

I proclaimed this my game of the year in 2013 when I played it on console and replaying it on PC now I would still rank it highly among my video game favourites. Such a unique, spectacular game.

I have bought the game maybe two years ago, when I read good reviews about it and when it went on sale on steam. I have just played it on my new lenovo gaming laptop. I am only mentioning this because I thought the visuals were gorgeous, and it deserve to be played on a good PC. (Mine comes with Nvidia 960)
I was amazed by the story and emotions involved in the game. It might not be very obvious at the beginning of the game, but trust me it surprisingly gets epic. Although the game has no narrator nor it uses a known language, it communicates the story very fluently through the scenes. I want to say more but I think I might run into spoiling the story for the reader.
I highly advise buying and playing this game. I also highly recommend playing it with a joypad. I first played it with a keyboard and I almost gave up on it. It was really confusing to play on a keyboard and I couldn’t control the players properly. The puzzles seem to be more enjoyable when played with a joypad, and it seems that the way the creators intended it to be.
If I ever want to criticize anything about the game, it would be that I wanted to have more puzzles and a little more complication to come with them.
Final verdict:
9.5

A beautiful, moving story woven into a masterful piece of artwork. The gameplay mechanics are creative and fun to play, once you get the hang of it. The lack of tutorials might be bothersome in the beginning, but makes the game much more immersive till the end. The soundtrack is illuminating as well. Has some replayability value too, though they could've included some more achievements. A must have in your library!

A fantastic novella-length adventure game, in which the clever gameplay is ultimately just a question of unfolding the story rather than an end in itself. I often dislike games of the scripted, on-rails type, but this one is perfectly paced and uniquely immersive. It lacks the courage and follow-through of what I assume must be its inspiration in Lindgren's "Brothers Lionheart", and because it is mute it is more abstract and like a fable, but as far as narratives in games go, this is 10/10.

A beautiful game with a story line fit for a movie. It is truely an amazing tale of the unfairness of life and how two brothers over came them . Everything is a gamble in life and this game shows that no outcome is truely without consequence.

The graphics are creative and diverse, from mountain tops, to tree forests, to the depths of caves and water. This game brings to life an epic journey through its amazing artwork. Lastly the sound (music and voices) are not overly done, by being subtle in the background. This lets the visuals shine and be the true show case of the story telling.

I highly recommend this game for its amazing ability to tell a story of life, with it's realism and understanding, without becoming predictable or boring. Congratulations to the developers and I wish more games were this memorable and immersive!

I give this 5 out of 5 Beers!

Cheers,
Frost

A work of extraordinary beauty and imagination. The epic story, gorgeous world and poignant moments more than excuse a few wonky puzzles.
