This game messed me up. 10/10

It was a short but beautiful story about two brothers finding medicine for their sick dad. I called the young men Righty and Lefty. There were a wide variety of strong atmospheres, and they could change unexpectedly. The graphics were phenominal. Rather than focusing on realism, the developers wove a beautiful story through the whimsical aesthetic. Somehow the same song, which played during key moments, was able to take on so many different moods. It could be glorious or sorrowful, but it never changed. The use of the control scheme to further the story and feed the player emotions was extremely well done. Its a great game, and anyone with a gamepad should buy it, especially on sale.

Also, the game itself is amazing. Even if you severely dislike story-based games, don't worry. The developers didn't sacrifice good gameplay for storytelling. I didn't expect this game to be difficult, but it had a nice challenge, and I found it very fun.

tl;dr
This game may be short, but it has perfect graphics, music, and gameplay, and anyone with a gamepad should be ashamed to not have it.

I found this game too dull to continue past the first hour and a half of gameplay. Gameplay is extremely basic and consists of walking from one place to another, occasionally doing extremely simple puzzles that take little thought to complete. Central to its gameplay is the ability to control two characters simultaneously, but it's a gimmick and adds little to the game. What you have left is a pretty, slow paced game with rubbish puzzles and nothing original outside of its control gimmick.

Walked into this game with no knowledge whatsoever about it.

Didn't realize I'd be walking out punched in the feels.

Music score, atmosphere, game mechanic. A+.

Like Shadow of the Colossus and Ico? This'll take you back there.

BTW, the tags do include "short", so don't have a cow.

I cried when the baby Griffin died. Am relunctant to go down that road again.

9/10. Lost a point for baby griffin death. DAMN YOU, FEELS! *sniff sniff*

A beautiful game with a story line fit for a movie. It is truely an amazing tale of the unfairness of life and how two brothers over came them . Everything is a gamble in life and this game shows that no outcome is truely without consequence.

The graphics are creative and diverse, from mountain tops, to tree forests, to the depths of caves and water. This game brings to life an epic journey through its amazing artwork. Lastly the sound (music and voices) are not overly done, by being subtle in the background. This lets the visuals shine and be the true show case of the story telling.

I highly recommend this game for its amazing ability to tell a story of life, with it's realism and understanding, without becoming predictable or boring. Congratulations to the developers and I wish more games were this memorable and immersive!

I give this 5 out of 5 Beers!

Cheers,
Frost

This game is a rather mixed bag. The graphics are not terribly complex, but the art is very good, with a distinct and consistent style. The gameplay is very simple and I found the puzzles rather obvious, this may be intentional but I didn't find it very challenging. Additonally it's very, very short and has no replay value. I was aware of this before I bought it and purchased with a large discount so I don't feel cheated, but be aware.

As a story, I found it interesting enough to keep me going through the < 3 hour playtime, but rather predictable. Overall it feels very much like a student project that got picked up and finished off. The characters all speak in a totally made up language, which detracts from the weight of emotional situations.

In closing, interesting experience, but not worth full price.

[Spoiler tags are actual spoilers]

It didn't hit me when he died.

It didn't hit me when it made me bury him.

It hit me when it made me take his controls.

You will likely never get used to how this game controls, but I didn\'t realize just how strongly something so simple as keybindings could support a narrative.

There is and will never be a platformer as emotionally devastating as Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons. Truly, it is a remarkable experience that won't hit you where it hurts until it needs to.

● Superb storytelling.
● Lovely visuals.
● Simple but interesting puzzles.
● Subtle but pleasant soundtrack.
● And perhaps most importantly: innovative gameplay mechanic which ties the controls to the narrative.

I proclaimed this my game of the year in 2013 when I played it on console and replaying it on PC now I would still rank it highly among my video game favourites. Such a unique, spectacular game.

I have bought the game maybe two years ago, when I read good reviews about it and when it went on sale on steam. I have just played it on my new lenovo gaming laptop. I am only mentioning this because I thought the visuals were gorgeous, and it deserve to be played on a good PC. (Mine comes with Nvidia 960)
I was amazed by the story and emotions involved in the game. It might not be very obvious at the beginning of the game, but trust me it surprisingly gets epic. Although the game has no narrator nor it uses a known language, it communicates the story very fluently through the scenes. I want to say more but I think I might run into spoiling the story for the reader.
I highly advise buying and playing this game. I also highly recommend playing it with a joypad. I first played it with a keyboard and I almost gave up on it. It was really confusing to play on a keyboard and I couldn’t control the players properly. The puzzles seem to be more enjoyable when played with a joypad, and it seems that the way the creators intended it to be.
If I ever want to criticize anything about the game, it would be that I wanted to have more puzzles and a little more complication to come with them.
Final verdict:
9.5

A beautiful, moving story woven into a masterful piece of artwork. The gameplay mechanics are creative and fun to play, once you get the hang of it. The lack of tutorials might be bothersome in the beginning, but makes the game much more immersive till the end. The soundtrack is illuminating as well. Has some replayability value too, though they could've included some more achievements. A must have in your library!

A fantastic novella-length adventure game, in which the clever gameplay is ultimately just a question of unfolding the story rather than an end in itself. I often dislike games of the scripted, on-rails type, but this one is perfectly paced and uniquely immersive. It lacks the courage and follow-through of what I assume must be its inspiration in Lindgren's "Brothers Lionheart", and because it is mute it is more abstract and like a fable, but as far as narratives in games go, this is 10/10.

A work of extraordinary beauty and imagination. The epic story, gorgeous world and poignant moments more than excuse a few wonky puzzles.
