A very beautiful game which has a lovely emotional story and all controlled in a very unique way that tests how ambidextrous you are. A must buy.

The only word to describe this game is: beautiful. The art direction, soundtrack, color patterns, interaction with the world, controls... everything is beautiful. Especially interactions and the responses of the items or people (wouldn't like to call them NPC's in such a game) depending on the brother you're interacting at that time makes this game astonishingly brilliant. Being directly involved in some major happenings (like at the giant tree, near the end of the game) makes it more than a simple platformer and enhances the game's influence on your emotions as you are doing those specific actions. Preference of using the player's involvement rather than showing those kinds of events as cutscenes turns this simple story to a bond between the game and the gamer.

Only negative points are:
Mostly holding LT and RT buttons might become tiring for fingers after a while.
Controller direction settings are set for XBOX gamepads, which are different than most of the gamepads on the market in terms of locations of digital and analog movement buttons, therefore while you're controlling a brother with analog, you'll control the other with digital and this kinda diminishes the revolutionary control system.
Game is too short and would love to play more of this.
Puzzles could have been harder (?).

At the end, it is a great experience to participate in the tale of two brothers.

Rating: 10/10 must buy - worth full price and then some ( WORK OF ART status)

Summary: Emotionally charged and beautifully designed adventure puzzle game. Can be played without controller but dont do it, use a 2 stick controller. Hits right in the feelings in the best possible way. No one will be left unmoved by the game.

Long review (SPOILER FREE):
Game is set in a fantasy world in which you play as two brothers on a epic quest to acquire a certain item. It is a very mature tale about growing up, brotherly bonds, effects of trauma on a young person, overcoming those traumas and acceptance of death as part of life.

Art direction is really good and make the world seem very alive which in turn makes you get really immersed in the game. Game is not long around 2,5h (4h if you stop to take in scenery) but in that short time it will take you on a emotional roller coaster ranging from heartwarming to heartbreaking. You will not feel like you were cheated by how short it is in the end, it will feel perfectly timed.

I can honestly say this is one of the few games that ever induced such deep emotions and cathartic feeling at the end. I am talking about The Walking Dead Clementine affection or MGS Sniper Wolf death scene level of emotions. This game will stick with me for the rest of my life. Please play this game in ONE sitting.

Characters in this game speak in a made up language and there are no subtitles yet design is so masterful you will never not understand what is happening or get lost or not understand a puzzle. In fact i was impressed that i developed such strong feelings for the brothers despite it. Puzzles range from easy to medium. Sometimes they are a bit "hard" just because you are most likely not used to controlling 2 characters at once using both analog sticks and R2 L2 triggers. Personally i did not find them clunky it worked really well for such a design.

Most impressive thing that really hit me in the feels was how the game managed to incorporate emotions into actuall controls. That blew my mind and if you play until the end you will know what i mean by that.

Only criticism i can possibly give would be that you should have a controller. Everything else is perfect at least for me. I will follow future similar releases from this studio. This game is a work of interactive art that can not be done in any other medium except video gaming.

GO BUY IT !!!

This game shows, says, and impacts you more in its 3 hour duration than nearly any other game can do in 100 or more.
Video game story-telling reaches its pinacle in this game. The gameplay, pacing, enviornment, and gibberish-spewing characters all coalesse into a game that makes you feel happiness, frivolity, intensity, melancholly, dismay, suspense, terror, and most overbearingly, that motley mix of pride and deep sadness at the game's end.

Beautiful visuals: artistic and technical. Plays solid. Gameplay's very innovative and welcomed.

Brothers left me speechless. Let first say to anyone looking for a short review, "Buy this game. It is 100% worth any money you will spend on it." I would also like to take a humble moment to confess that this game made me cry. Yes, I cried.

Now that the confession is out of the way, this game is a work of art. The story telling in this game is so fulfilling that the fact that story includes no dialogue only adds to the art form.

The player is greeted in the beginning with horrifying story of a boy not able to save his mother from drowning and having to deal with emotional stress as a young child. The story continues by giving the two brothers the task of curing their sick father. The story itself is an adventure in emotion and storytelling. The brothers venture off into an unknown world coming across all sorts of different people and creatures, both needing help and helping the brothers along the way. A wonderful part of the story is the side stories that you stumble upon that have nothing to do with main plot. It’s a rich element of character to an already impressive story.

For the second part of this review, let’s talk about the controls. The game is designed to use an Xbox style of controller utilizing the analog sticks to individually control each brother. Interaction with the environment is as simple as pressing the triggers, one for each brother. It is a lesson in coordination that for this guy was occasionally challenging. If the brothers swapped sides on the screen from the layout of the control sticks, it confused my thumbs. But I would not give up the uniqueness of these controls.

This may have been a short game (approx. 4-5 hours) but the story and cinematography outshined anything. A truly unique game and must play.

This game put me off in the beginning with the weird, nonsensical voice acting, but I'm really glad that I stuck with it. In fact, I think this game would actually have suffered with understandable voice acting. The puzzles weren't incredibly challenging, but they were fun, and I felt good after I completed them. There were some weird moments here and there where the puzzles only seemed to come from poor design choices on the part of the game's inhabitants, but they were outweighed by the rest of the game in a big way.

The only real con is that the game is pretty short. It is one of my more expensive games in terms of dollars per hour, but picking it up during a sale really helped to ease that pain.

I really enjoyed the world depicted in this game. It looks like a fairy tale and is wonderfuly brought to life with an amazing soundtrack.
The singleplayer cooperation mechanic is really awesome, and it makes the ending that much powerful.
Few games have been able to sucessfully marry gameplay and narrative, and that is a feat I feel is done right here.

It's a short but superb and emotional adventure.

A simple, yet brilliant approach at expressing the bond between two brothers through gameplay mechanics.

With a beautifully rendered world and an universal fantasy-appeal, this game will quickly capture the player in its world and soon he will find himself immersed into captivating landscapes. Despite all that beauty, the world of Two Brothers is not easy to traverse and only through teamwork can the brothers succeed.

Control the two brothers via a single controller and feel how close these two sons are to each other. Feel their togetherness, wonderfully expressed via gameplay and level design.

Highly recommended.
I also recommend playing this great, albeit short game in a single session, to really connect to the journey that the two sons, as well as you, have brought behind themselves.

I fell in love with this game! A beautiful and very touching story, an epic journey through Scandinavia, breathtaking landscapes, an enchanting soundtrack with the Sami joik and challenging puzzles. Playing with the two brothers is also a lot of fun. I totally recommend everyone to buy "Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons" and I think that it deserves a sequel.

Stunning game, I don't usually like puzzle games, but this one is different. It's not too difficult and the focus is on the story line; not the puzzles.

This game is an amazing work of art. It's a fantasy adventure // puzzle game, where you play as 2 brothers on a quest...without giving spoilers. This is a must have.

Beautiful storyline, art and sountrack. The controls are easy and the camera offers no problems. A brillant result when art and gaming embrace.

It's poetric, deep, cute and innocent, yet plain scary and creepy at times. You smile and cry with the main characters feeling their emotions from the beginning to the end.

One of the best games I have ever played...and it goes amazing with a cup of hot chocolate.

Brothers - A Tale of Two Sons has a personality of its own. Unique and fantastic game.

35 years into this life and seldom have I felt the way I feel now, a few silent minutes after this game's credits roll.

I will not pepper this review with adjectives like "stunning" and "magnificient". I will not try to influence your choice or opinion. I will not summarize the story to you or describe the mechanics or analyse the developper's intent. I am in no mood for such endeavours and I will assume others have filled these boots quite nicely already.

What I will say is that, to my personal taste, this game's combination of artistic elements (art, music and storytelling) was in perfect harmony.

Every element matched any other element flawlessly. Every element matched me, in the emotional state I was in while I played, perfectly. I have rarely been a witness of such congruence. The multimedia recipe succeeded in creating a new entity that delivered an impact far greater that the simple sum of the elements themselves ever could.

After completing this short game, I felt as if the entire team had my picture nailed to a cork board in their meeting room with "target audience" pinned under it. As if every one of them had known me intimately and had decided to dedicate their collective hard work towards the single goal of delivering an experience that I was sure to enjoy.

And even though that wasn't the case, they succeeded in every possible way.

I will let you be the judge and apply your own personal formula as to what amount you should pay for this game, the value it seems to provide relative to the gameplay hours it provides and the risk you should take in trying it or not.

What I will say is this:

I'm glad I've jumped for now I fly. I'm glad I've dived for now I swim. I'm glad I've tried for now I feel.
