I really enjoyed this game. It was visually stunning and had some amazing set pieces. I will say the puzzles were not a challenge and so I'm leaning more towards calling this interactive storytelling. The mechanic of running two characters at the same time (one on the left stick/left trigger, one on the right) was difficult, but became easier. I've never seen that before and it was a cool way to play.

The most visually stunning rendition of patting your head while rubbing your stomach in a circle I've ever played.

Pros:
  • Very polished throughout (this alone makes the game worthwhile)
  • Beautiful environments
  • Great soundtrack and effects
  • Gameplay is hudless but extremely intuitive
  • Excellent camera control and angles
  • Puzzles/Challenges are constantly varied (although the overall mechanic is almost always the same)
  • The overall theme is fairytale mixed with the Odyssey; thus whimsical but not childish

Cons:
  • Babble language is obnoxious to say the least (I wish the characters spoke Latin or Gaelic or something that doesn't sound like the campy language from "The Sims")
  • Puzzles/Challenges are really easy; the mechanic is more annoying than challenging (not sure difficulty was the aim)
  • Encountered a few minor bugs
  • Although the landscapes looked amazing, the characters looked unfinished

Other Comments:
  • As linear as it gets (although the style of this game is interactive movie)
  • Short; worth only about 3 hours (take this as a pro or con)
  • Storyline was good, but I wasn't as moved as other reviewers seem to be (I think it was a combination of the babble-speak and the fact that the majority of the gameplay, little puzzles and challenges, don't really advance the story much)

In short, this game is a visionary masterpiece, with stunning scenery and beautiful music. The puzzles aren't particularly hard but the story is simple yet solid and you feel a very human bond between the brothers.
As a VERY critical gamer the only negatives I can really put forward are the shortness of the whole story (2-3 hours) and the controls sometimes being a bit fiddly, having to cooperatively control both brothers simultaneous. Sometimes not that easy.
That said, this game is a must-play even if only once for the experience, the sadness of which is highly unexpected and makes it quite unique in it's genre.

The game itself is great, but I have problem with controlling both guys at the same time while flying to the castle. Steering of the younger brother doesn't work. I know that the game screams USE TWO CONTROLLERS, but I have only a keyboard.

A beautiful, magical, deeply emotional game that will take you back to the fantasty-adventure movies of your childhood.

Brothers is a story told without words, using motions to convey ideas and a nonsense language to convey feelings. You control the titular brothers with each half of the controller: the Older Brother on the left-stick and trigger, and the Younger Brother on the right. This can get a little confusing when they're not on those sides of the screen, so you'll likely be correcting their positions accordingly throughout. My journey lasted three hours, and not a moment of that time was wasted - every second is filled with beautiful, cinematic views or a basic puzzle to solve.

The diffculty is low, almost trivial, but you're not playing this game to push yourself. This is a journey of the spirit, of the most traditionally fantasy kind. I can't express how beautiful this experience is, and I'm not talking about the graphics - this really should be experienced by everyone, gamers and non-gamers alike.

PS. Don't forget to Hold Trigger to Pay Respects.

PPS. I'm just waiting for the Payday 2 Crossover DLC, so I can play as Dallas and Houston, and end the game before it begins by telling the dad to "Get da ♥♥♥♥ up".

Brothers: Two Sons is an incredibly fun game with a great story. Using two sticks to control both brothers at once feels a bit weird at first, but soon becomes second nature.

Brothers - A Tale of Two Sons is a beautiful story about two brothers and their journey to get cure for their father.

+Great story, a lot of emotional parts in the game.
+Art in this game is amazing, every location in this game is unique and breathtaking.
+Great integration of gamepad, both kids are controlled serperatly but on the same controller, very unique experience.
+Puzzles made me think, but were not too hard to slow me down.
+Achievements, if you want them - you'll have to get out of your way and do additional tasks in order to get them. But it is really worth it!

-Very short, 2-3 hours of gameplay.
-Gamers withour gamepad will be unable to play this gem.

I enjoyed A Tale of Two Sons for its stunning visuals and fun puzzle based gameplay. Playing with the controller was fairly straightforward and I found the controls responsive and easy to use. My one gripe is that there were more choice-based decisions than I realized noticed by my lack of acheivement unlocks. Apparently, there was a lot more to this game that I initially realized, so there may be more repeat gameplay value, although, I would definitely need more time to pass to dive back in.

An incredibly well made game. Fun gameplay and a great ending to boot!

Every sequence in this game is well thought out and gives you the "ohhh" and "damn" moments with no shortage. Nothing short of brilliance here.

Every gamer should play this. Beautiful piece of art.

What can i say for this game. In the midle of the game i wanted to write a review about how cool it was to cut giants parts , bath your self into giants blood and do awesome staff.. But now that i ended the emotion that it offered me overflows from my feelings box..

The game is a road full of surprises, goes from sweet feelings , to sad, to sweet, to sad and goes on, but somehow the sadness seems familiar and you can make it part of you..

It is a simple and soon game, it will end soon but the emotions taht it offers are from an other place.. I had long time to play such an excellent game. Ofc some tiems it lucks into some controls or graphice, you cannot make it run 1080p HD but itt looks so pretty and smooth.

I got it on sales, so i didn't pay much, which made me enjoy it even more! I would recommend it to all of you to try it, it is a sweet and nice game

It's a Tale about 2 brothers.
"Yes, thats obvious from the title cyna, duh!!."

Ok, So What if i told you, it has :

+Great dual platforming.... simultaneously
+Simple yet fun Gameplay mechanics
+Beautiful Scenery+++++ Most Screenshots i've taken for a game till now.
+Epic Sense of Adventure++++++
+the Right music at the right time
+A Modest Story thats just enough to get you emotionally involved.

"Ah cyna, Now i'm interested, but what about the short playtime??"

Well, Thats enough to make you appreciate the Game and the fact that you paid for something well worth your time. Too much puzzle solving woulda drowned the emotional ties to the game.

8/10 for me. Most of you may have played it by now, but if you have'nt, Go play it.

P.S: Best Played with a controller.

This game is more about the story than any other thing. Graphics, music, story are beautifull very explicit and made my son cry.

If you search for some diffucult platerformer, this is not for you. The game itself is not really difficult, puzzles goes from easy to medium at most and you can really take your time to do them. And it's a good thing because you control the big bro' with the left side of your controller and lil' one with the right side, witch seems quite odd at the beginning. You can get used to it but not really confortable with it and need to really think sometimes what hand you need to move. Controls are probably the most difficult thing in the game, but this game is not really about difficulty and really about the story and their journey together.

I would recommend this game to anyone who like to take their time to discover a beautiful journey.

You can either watch cartoon on TV or play this game, but this game will show you exactly how much of a bad idea it is to bring a girl with you on an adventure, and it will get you right in the feels.

This game is very simple in all aspects, simple gameplay mechanism, simple adventure and simple puzzles to solve, but it has a strong story and really amazing visuals and It's short so just try it out and see for yourself.

I was disappointed by this game. From reviews I have seen and read I got into it thinking, "I'm gonna get 2 hours of great story and mediocre gameplay out of it". And that's no even a high expectation.

However I did not expect it to be that boring. The gameplay consists of walking around, simple interaction with things and occasional hand cramps. I didn't even want to explore much, because simply walking around was annoying.

The story was good, the world was interesting and it was enough for me to keep going. If I hadn't known that the game was short I wouldn't have bothered to continue. I wanted to see the end, I wanted to get a full picture of the story and that's the only reason I played through it.

In the end the story is not a good enough reason for me to recommend "Brothers - A Tale of Two Sons", because the boring and annoying gameplay ruined it all for me.

Got this game gifted, didn't touch it for months, then decided to play it from the couch with a girl.
I wish I bought it myself, because its worth it.

The bonding with the characters is very well directed, and the story immersive and somewhat original.
The game is not very challenging, but in a nice way. It keeps giving you new things to look for, new game mechanics to use and all of that without making it repetitive.

The unique way to control the characters takes a tiny bit of getting used to, but feels amazing once you are.

If anyone would know games just like this, let me know!

Brothers - A Tale of Two Sons is a short (~2-3 hours) adventure game where two brothers are sent off in a world filled with gorgeous visuals, monsters, puzzles, and magical musical score. You control both players at the same time and there are numerous times the brothers will have to be used together in order to solve puzzles or just to traverse the terrain. I wish the game was longer because the graphics and music are stunning and really makes this epic fantasy world come alive. The story and environments are unique and this game is a must play!

An overall short game (around 2.5 hours just running through ignoring the scenery) but a beautiful one, that tells a sweet yet tragic story. Well worth taking your time playing to take in the brilliant visuals and to fully enjoy the journey as well as the excellent story that is subtly told.

Brothers - A Tale of Two Sons tells the story of the journey of two brothers.
The game mechanics are really unique: You have to control both brothers at the same time. The game scenary and ambientation is great, as well as the soundtrack.
It's a very emotional game, and really gets you into the characters. Also, it's relatively short (around 3 hours), but overall quite enjoyable.
Recommended for those who enjoy adventure-like stories.

Overall score: 8.5/10.

If there was ever a game to bring up in the "games as art" debate this would be it. Not because of its graphics or story (even tho both are great) but because of the way it uses interactivity to tell its story in a way that no other medium could have done.

At its core Brothers is a puzzle game with a unique control scheme. You play as two brothers on a quest to find a cure for their sick dad and each brother is controlled using one of your analog sticks. This takes a little getting used to but once you get the hang of it you get to experience some really cool puzzles that are all based on the fact that you're controlling two characters at the same time.

I can't write a review that comes even close to doing it justice so I'll just say that Brothers is one of my favorite games ever made. It's a complete masterpiece and a couple of moments in the game gave me shivers and almost brought me to tears. On the other hand I've seen playthroughs on youtube where the player doesn't have nearly the same reactions as I had to certain key points in the game, but yet they've all agreed that the game is amazing.

Just go play the game for yourself. Worst case scenario you won't regret it and at its best it'll make you re-evaluate what can be done with videogames.
