This is a unique game. It wasn't very challenging, but the gameplay was interesting. I usually prefer multiplayer games, but this game was good.

"Brothers - A Tales of Two Sons" is a very enjoyable game and it's not like the other.

Each chapter takes us into diverse, enchanting and different worlds. These worlds contribute to give a traditionnal tales aspect to the story. Not a Disney tale... It's more a Grimm tale. For example the death is present, explicit and not hidden.
The visual identity is very pleasant and reinforce the immersion in the story.

The gameplay is a little special but easy to pick up. We control the two characters in same time. We have the impression to be the invisble hand of the character's destiny during their epic and dark quest.

I advise to play with a controller. Each stick controls one character's movement and the trigger controls their actions.

It's possible to play with keyboard, yet harder. That adds the possibility to play with another gamer.
WASP + Space for the older brother.
Arrow keys + Right CTRL for the younger brother.
Play two gives a pleasant side to somes puzzles reflexes where you need a good coordination.

In general, this game is easy and very pleasant. The specific actions to each brother go together and are a part of the coherence of the story.
This game is short. 3 or 4 hours. Achievements are easy.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Brothers - A Tales of Two Sons" est un jeu fort sympathique qui sort du cadre des jeux habituels.
Chaque chapitre nous plonge dans des univers différents, variés et enchanteurs qui s'articulent autour d'une histoire reprenant les codes du conte traditionnel. Cependant, pas de mièvrerie ici, on se rapproche plus des contes de Grimm, où les thématiques telles que la mort nous sont lancées au visage.
L'identité visuelle du jeu est très appréciable et permet de manière assez efficace l'immersion dans ce conte.
Le gameplay bien qu'un peu particulier à prendre en main est assez simple. Nous contrôlons les deux protagonistes en même temps. Cela donne l'impression d'être la main invisible du destin qui dirige les pas des deux frères à travers leur périple à la fois épique mais également très sombre.
Je conseille fortement une manette pour jouer. Chaque stick permet de diriger un des deux frères. Chaque gâchette permet de leur faire réaliser les actions.
Il est possible, bien que plus complexe au niveau de la prise en main, de jouer au clavier. Cela apporte surtout la possibilité de jouer à deux. Chaque joueur pouvant alors d'une main contrôler un personnage.
Touches WASP + Espace pour le grand frère. (Implique de passer le clavier en Anglais. Pas de possibilité de changer les touches).
Touches fléchées + CTRL droit pour le petit frère.
Jouer à deux apporte un petit coté sympathique dans certains Puzzles qui demandent quelques réflexes et où il faut réussir à se coordonner.
De manière générale le jeu est simple et très agréables, les actions spécifiques à l'un ou l'autre des personnages se complètent bien et servent l'histoire et les liens entre les personnages.
Le jeu est assez court. Environ 3 ou 4 heures. Les succès ne sont pas difficiles à obtenir pour ceux qui les chassent.
Brothers: a Tail of Two Sons provides innovative local co-op puzzle-based gameplay, that tells a narrative through the actually play of the game rather than them be separated into gameplay and then cutscenes for story telling. The story itself is compeling yet at some points very male focused. The only major female charachter turns out to be a gaint half-human spider that wants to eat the two brothers Some critques of the game maybe: There are some points were you are doing nothing but sitting holding down L-ctrl for a minute and half looking back and forth awkwardly at your partner as if to say, "Soooo." It also is lacking in replayablity when it comes to giving you a challenge, because once you figure out what you should be doing, completing each section becomes rather trival although like a movie or any other narrative based media you can always enjoy a rewatch (or in this case replay.) Playing it as a single-player is do-able but the controls can feel a little awkward. All in all I would recommend playing this with a friend, especial with an actual brother. It's a great exercise in bonding.
Have you ever regret that you buy something from discount? I did. This is a kind of game that heats your stonecold hearth that you won't need to drink vodka when you are cold. Maybe you will feel like story isn't that good because of the dumb decisions you make in the game but gameplay will help you to get over it. Sondtracks are like the kulning of the nordic countries so I like that too. Nice game :)
It's fantastic. It's got about 3-5 hours worth of gameplay and most likely no replayability but every ounce it lacks in quantity is paid for with massive amounts of quality. The control scheme is easier to get used to than one would think although it is tricky at first. The story is absolutely amazing, the puzzles are well thought out, and the world is absolutely great; be warned though, despite the cute art style and beginning this game gets really dark really fast. I would recommend this game to anyone as it is one of the few examples of a video game that can claim to be a work of art.
A very touching story and interesting puzzles that weren't too hard, but did require cooperation, so I recommend you play with someone else using a controller. It's also good to have someone to cry with so you're not alone... :(
Brothers - A Tale of Two Sons is an Action Adventure game set in a fantasy world.
You're Naiee and Naia, two brothers whose father is dying. After taking him with the village’s doctor, he says the only cure lies in the waters of the Tree of Life, then, Naiee and Naia embark on a journey to the tree, hoping to save their father, but the world is huge and dangerous, beautiful and dark.
Words don't do it justice, I've played many games over the years, but nothing like this, something not only enjoyable, but also soul touching. Here, you’ll forget about everything, while drowning in a beautiful story, worth every praise it has already gotten.
this is a beautiful short game that's pieced together admirably, and it's one that i've become enamored with ♥
it's certain that the story itself is the pillar of this game's foundation while puzzle-solving stands as an inferior element. i personally didn't find that to be an issue since i'm not opposed to a non-challenging game as long as it still has its merits, which in this case, it does. although the playthrough (generally between two to six hours) is quite momentary, the wonderful quality makes it worthwhile.
i was pleased by the unique, simple-to-grasp gameplay and non-complex obstacles that merged flawlessly with the story's fluidity. each transition was a passage full of adventure-- i found delight in being met with lovely little surprises like riding mountain goats and sailing on a sky glider. i'd also pace my course throughout the scenic journey so i could appreciate the landscape encompassed by an enchanting ambience. as for the brothers, they were personable characters with a charm suitable for the heartfelt story. my fondness towards them progressed alongside the heroic tale, and with that, so did my devotion to their valorous pursuit. inevitably, this endearing story steadily tugged at my heartstrings until i fell in love with the entirety of it.
Brothers - A Tale of Two Sons is often named as one of the best example of games that use the tools proper of the video game medium in a way that no other does.
The main "gimmick" of the game is the fact that you control the titular two brothers at once, using one analog control stick and one "action" button for each.
This mechanic, alien at first, quickly becomes second nature, letting you fully enjoy your travels through beautiful scenery following the brothers on a quest to find a cure for their dying father.
Talking about storytelling, that's another way Brothers sets itself apart from most other games, as the simple, fable-like story is told using gameplay and rare in-engine cutscenes.
You find out the personality and quirks of each brother by the way they interact with each other and with the people and creatures they encounter during the journey. You understand the power of their brotherly bond by the way they help each other out solving puzzles or getting out of difficult situations. All of this without ever having to read or hear a single word.
I would 100% recommend Brothers - A Tale of Two Sons if it wasn't already clear enough, as the way the game marries its storytelling to its mechanics is truly fascinating and definitely worth the 2 to 4 hours needed to complete it.
A beautiful game with a story line fit for a movie. It is truely an amazing tale of the unfairness of life and how two brothers over came them . Everything is a gamble in life and this game shows that no outcome is truely without consequence.
The graphics are creative and diverse, from mountain tops, to tree forests, to the depths of caves and water. This game brings to life an epic journey through its amazing artwork. Lastly the sound (music and voices) are not overly done, by being subtle in the background. This lets the visuals shine and be the true show case of the story telling.
I highly recommend this game for its amazing ability to tell a story of life, with it's realism and understanding, without becoming predictable or boring. Congratulations to the developers and I wish more games were this memorable and immersive!
I give this 5 out of 5 Beers!
Cheers,
Frost
This was a fairly enjoyable game.
The story is nice and simplistic.
The speech is mainly random gibberish but the actions makes what their saying obvious and the characters are actually portrayed quite well and there is even a little bit of character development.
The gameplay and controls is interesting and original, although it is ultimately very simple.
I think what really makes the game shine is the story telling and the world itself. They had pretty good ideas for the world and the atmosphere changed really well with the music, background details and other things.
You go through each area relatively quickly though and it almost feels like just a snapshot of what could have been,
At the end I couldn't help but feel this entire game was simply a prologue for a bigger game. You can see how the little brother develops and becomes stronger both physically and mentally after his elder brother's death, and I sortof thought this game would work as a good prologue story for a story where the little brother grows up to be a hero or something. This is all just personal opinion and has nothing to do with what the developer intended.
Ultimately, its a very simple but beautifully made game with alot of heart put into it.
