+ Great visuals
+ Good controls
+ Nice ending

- Bad gameplay
- Puzzles are too easy
- Mechanics of the two protagonists fall pretty short
- Story gets annnoying
- Spiritual ♥♥♥♥
- Some parts just don't make sense

+- Takes 3-4 to complete, not including searching for all the achivements
+- The characters talk to each other in an unknown language, there is no way of understanding, what they are saying, which annoyed me, but can work for you
+- This game would be perfect as a coop game, but this would take away the special characteristic

This would be so much better if it was a Coop Game, but oh well, I understand the design decision.
Since you can get this game pretty much for free, I can recommend for what it is, although it will probably just take you 3-4 hours to finish. This is the type of game you play while something is downloading, but nothing more.

A hauntingly beautiful story that reduced me to tears (both happy and sad) several times. The visuals were fantastic, and the way the controls were linked to the narrative was probably the best I've ever experienced. Controlling both brothers at the same time made the puzzle solving more interesting, as each brother could produce a different result from interacting with the people and the environment, and you had to figure out whether both brothers or only one was needed. It's easy to play in one sitting, but the story will stay with you for a long time after you're finished.

It's amazing how you get used to the controlling system. At first it's a bit confusing, but after a while it comes almost naturally, controlling both brothers smoothly. The game is really beautiful and very deep emotionally, the views and landscapes are breathtaking. It's a short game, yes, but I would totally experience it again.
The game was all about death and being able to cope with it, though. Beginning with their dead Mother, the journey is to save their dying Father. There's a lot of disturbing imagery regarding the hanging bodies in the forest, the man who you find hanging himself next to the burnt down house and... dead bodies. Then there's of course, the valley of dead giants that you basically need to mutilate to get through.

This game might not be long but it sure is packed with quality.
It's about from two to three hours long so you'll be able to play it on one sitting and it is preferable doing so.

Using controller is recommended.
If you see this on sale, buy it and play it. You won't regret it.

This will be some of the best cash you will spend on a game. You finish it quickly, but it's breathtaking, you must play it. I hope there is a sequel or something.

As the game went on, the brothers' journey seemed less and less worth it... but my journey was very, very worth it.

Amazing story, good controls that tie in to the narrative. A short yet enjoyable game.
Note: A controller is required for the best experience.

[Spoiler tags are actual spoilers]

It didn't hit me when he died.

It didn't hit me when it made me bury him.

It hit me when it made me take his controls.

You will likely never get used to how this game controls, but I didn\'t realize just how strongly something so simple as keybindings could support a narrative.

There is and will never be a platformer as emotionally devastating as Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons. Truly, it is a remarkable experience that won't hit you where it hurts until it needs to.

● Superb storytelling.
● Lovely visuals.
● Simple but interesting puzzles.
● Subtle but pleasant soundtrack.
● And perhaps most importantly: innovative gameplay mechanic which ties the controls to the narrative.

I proclaimed this my game of the year in 2013 when I played it on console and replaying it on PC now I would still rank it highly among my video game favourites. Such a unique, spectacular game.

I have bought the game maybe two years ago, when I read good reviews about it and when it went on sale on steam. I have just played it on my new lenovo gaming laptop. I am only mentioning this because I thought the visuals were gorgeous, and it deserve to be played on a good PC. (Mine comes with Nvidia 960)
I was amazed by the story and emotions involved in the game. It might not be very obvious at the beginning of the game, but trust me it surprisingly gets epic. Although the game has no narrator nor it uses a known language, it communicates the story very fluently through the scenes. I want to say more but I think I might run into spoiling the story for the reader.
I highly advise buying and playing this game. I also highly recommend playing it with a joypad. I first played it with a keyboard and I almost gave up on it. It was really confusing to play on a keyboard and I couldn’t control the players properly. The puzzles seem to be more enjoyable when played with a joypad, and it seems that the way the creators intended it to be.
If I ever want to criticize anything about the game, it would be that I wanted to have more puzzles and a little more complication to come with them.
Final verdict:
9.5

A beautiful, moving story woven into a masterful piece of artwork. The gameplay mechanics are creative and fun to play, once you get the hang of it. The lack of tutorials might be bothersome in the beginning, but makes the game much more immersive till the end. The soundtrack is illuminating as well. Has some replayability value too, though they could've included some more achievements. A must have in your library!

A fantastic novella-length adventure game, in which the clever gameplay is ultimately just a question of unfolding the story rather than an end in itself. I often dislike games of the scripted, on-rails type, but this one is perfectly paced and uniquely immersive. It lacks the courage and follow-through of what I assume must be its inspiration in Lindgren's "Brothers Lionheart", and because it is mute it is more abstract and like a fable, but as far as narratives in games go, this is 10/10.

A work of extraordinary beauty and imagination. The epic story, gorgeous world and poignant moments more than excuse a few wonky puzzles.

Man...this game...

Brothers - A Tale of Two Sons will carry you to the feel train all the way. The game does not restrict itself. You will experience all kinds of emotions from joy to sorrow.

The game also has beautifully done sceneries combined with creative and unique characters.

Controls are very simple and puzzles are fairly simple. I recommend using a controller since it feels more natural.

Overall, Brothers is a worthy experience. I would not recommend to persons that want gameplay over story. It is more of an "experience" just like Journey and Flower. If you want an interesting and engaging story, definitely try it out.
