I love the pace of this game. It is so ♥♥♥♥ing fast if you manage to stay in rage mode and it feels very satisfying to dodge the traps and finish several enemys. In addition some of the enemys have the name tags of people in your friend list which is kind of irrelevant but still adds something to the game. Boss fights are ok, but there could be a greater variety. All in all i can recommend this game, i realy enjoyed playing it!

Some of the best speed run platforming you'll find, anywhere. Lots of old-school arcade nostalgia. You'll seriously be wanting to buy a fountain soda, put quarters up on the display and shout "GOT NEXT."

Short version: very bad sliding controls, you slide all over when you land and take constant environmental dmg, lousy boss fights that are pure trial and error memorization, and very short (beat it in 2 hours) so $7 is overpriced by about four dollars. Also, Adult Swim games and shows try way, way too hard to be amusing and they are just not funny at all most of the time. AS shows and games are just the dreams of drug-happy hippie barista new age pretentious hipster dudes. "Like, one day my dreams will become a reality on TV, man! That'll be $17.50 for that large latte, dude!" I should clone myself and make my clone do five trillion jumping jacks while watching videos of sleeping vegetables. What I just said makes much more sense than any show or game Adult Swim has ever made. I have no doubt that if they read it they will take it and turn it into a show.

Review
Super House of Ice Skating is what this should be called since you slide all over badly. It is extremely hard but for all the wrong reasons. My guy moves way too fast and slides all over the place which makes me constantly careen into things and get hit. But how the ♥♥♥♥ can I NOT do that when I'm in a ♥♥♥♥ing hurry because the whole game is on a timer? God I hate twitch-play nervous-play timer games. Because of the sliding and other ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ you take unavoidable dmg from bosses until you get it by trial and error after a bunch of tries, and constantly by normal enemies and environment hazards. Some skill can be put to use if you have such, but in reality no true gaming skill is involved in this game. It is just purely trial and error memorization.

The biggest problem I had with the game and is what killed any fun that was left is, like I said, the horrible control. I'm using a wired 360 pad, as keyboard controls are out of the question for this game. The entire game feels like you are jumping and sliding around on ice. After you land from a jump, when you stop running, precision jumping, all have to be done with the sliding effect taken into account, and it makes the game simply a hundred times harder than it should actually be. Even standing on a ledge and barely tapping the dpad to face another direction has a significant risk of sliding off. One specific issue I can remember is during the last boss fight you have to stand on these purple things that get slammed down (most of the time giving you a unavoidable hit) and you can easily slide off them into the acid and take major dmg.
When you play you are on a timer which of course sucks being rushed. It isn't too terrible because you can pick up timer reset items and meet a ghost who resets the timer, but for me personally that kills a lot of the fun, as I despise nervous twitch-play timer games. To be fair, if the timer runs out you lose only one life drop, but you need all the life you can get for the sucky trial-and-error memorization boss fights.

The enemies and environments are just pure frustration at its worst. Every enemy and every environmental hazard has a extremely high possibility of dealing an unavoidable hit to you because of the sliding effect of movement. With practice they could become unavoidable, but with the combination of having to rush because of the timer and the awful sliding feel of the movement, they will stay nearly unavoidable and this game will stay a piece of crap.

With practice I beat it, but did not have very much fun doing so. It's far from being a great indie game, or really even a good game generally speaking. Even if it was good, it is very short. I have 3.6hrs in it, taking away the time I was alt+tabbed out waiting for the rest of the card drops from it, I beat all of it in about two hours or less. Look elsewhere for your next great indie game and stay far the ♥♥♥♥ away from any adult swim games because they are all just weird drug-induced nonsense like their nonsensical shows. It might be somewhat funny if the games were good but no adult swim games are. All adult swim games and shows are just not funny unless you are either 12 years old or on drugs.

SHODN is a fast paced, "slash your way through enemies" game with fast and responsive controls and enjoyable monster slaying. The game is about descending through a tower with many floors, bosses, pick ups, and especially enemies. Before starting the descent, you can pick the weapons you unlocked by completing certain entertaining and fun, sometimes grindy challenges in the tower. You will also gain stuff like extra lives, ammunition of shurikens and magic and such. If you want a more in depth look into the game you should probably watch TotalBuiscuit's WTF video on this but if you're not interested in that, trust me, the game is so good and entertaining that you won't regret buying it not really knowing anything before, especially if it's on sale.

But screw all that just said who cares really IT HAS NINJAS AND KATANAS AND MAGIC AND ♥♥♥♥ YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEAH

++ Highly responsive gameplay, perfect for speed-running.
+ Frantic action. Good variety of enemies and bosses.
+ Randomly generated levels guarantee a fresh experience for each consecutive run.
+ Great variety of unlockable items, upgrades, weapons and other goodies.
+ Perfect balance between tension build up and carnage.
+ 3 difficulty modes, each with their own specific treats and handicaps.

- No multiplayer support.

This game is an absolute must have. If you have skipped previous sales, by all means add this one to your wishlist so you can get it for a cheap price once it gets a big discount (or gets bundled) in the future.

Super House of Dead Ninjas is an Arcade title that puts your reflexes to the test. You have to drop all the way to the bottom of an evil tower filled with deadly traps, mobs and boss fights. Each tower you run through is randomly generated. There are new weapons and items that can be unlocked by meeting certain requirements. A timer keeps the tension present all the time; if you let it drop to 0, you'll lose a live, however there are items that will let you either freeze or reset the counter.

I have played this game for over 20 hours and I still haven't gotten tired of it. It is so good! If only it allowed multiplayer runs or challenges. Oh well, maybe for the sequel.

Get this hidden gem. You will definitely enjoy it.

Super House of Dead Ninjas is another very solid entry into the recent list of randomly generated action games on the pc market.

Throughout the game, you're constantly descending a randomly generated tower at breakneck speed. There's a timer, as well as score bonuses for chain killing enemies encouraging you to go as fast as possible and kill as many enemies as possible without slowing down. It's very offense oriented, with not much dodging and a very strong emphasis on just blazing through everything without making any mistakes (a bit of a minus for me personally, since I prefer complex dodging, but it's definitely an interesting play style).

There are not many flaws that I can think of, as it overall feels well thought out. My biggest complaint is that the various traps and levels the rng gives you often feel a bit same-y, and lack strategic variety. Things do get harder as you progress, but once you've seen one set of hazards, you've pretty much seen them all, and that's all you really do throughout the course of the game. The ultra fast move speed also feels a bit unwieldy during some of the boss fights as well, though that could just be me.

It's a good game for sure, just not one of my favorites (play style is interesting but not really my style, and the slight lack of variety hurts it a bit too in my opinion). If you're on the fence, I'd recommend watching a gameplay video, because it plays exactly the way it looks. If it looks like something that'll scratch your speed running arcade ninja itch, than pick it up because you'll probably enjoy it a lot.

You basically run and cut everything in your way.
With the right timing, you'll feel like a total badass!
After a while playing, all you'll see is blur. And that's good.
This game offers a very satisfying experience!
Also, you'll get more than your money's worth.

So only get this game if you're up for the challenge. It IS a challenging game. But once you get a hang of it (it wasn't that hard, or at least for me it wasn't) it's pretty fun. Some people dislike the controls but I've never noticed mostly because I never stop moving in the game. This game is supposed to be fast paced and I don't see why you would ever want to take your time with it. That's also one thing to think about before buying this game. If you don't like fast paced rogue-like games, then this is not the game for you. BUT if you're a person who would prefer a fast paced, challenging, rewarding, platformer... YOU SHOULD DEFINITELY BUY THIS :D:

BTW: the game TIME runs as fast as your fps so if you're not constantly getting 60fps (that's the cap), it won't be a very smooth or fun experience. This shouldn't be a problem if you have a computer. Mine is pretty old and slow and is basically a toaster oven. :)

This is my favorite game that I bought during the Summer Sale. Fast paced and challenging, with perfect controls! Controls can make or break a platformer and these are just great. You move and attack so quickly, but you feel in total control of your ninja the entire time.

You need very good reflexes for this game and the ability to watch a lot of things at the same time. Enemies can react VERY quickly to your character. Good thing the game has a great built in mechanic. When you kill a lot of enemies in a row, in quick succession, you will activate your Rage ability. You become invincible during this and kill everything in 1 hit, not counting bosses.

The game also has an awesome unlock system. I don't know the exact number, but somewhere around 75 different unlockable equipment, abilities and powerups are in the game. I really like this unlock system, because the better you do in the game, the better unlocks you will get access to for your next run. Expect to die a ton when first starting out, then when you start getting access to the upgraded equipment and things, you will get a lot further and eventually complete your first run through the tower.

This game can be beaten in around 4 minutes (go watch the speedrun on Youtube, it looks amazing)! The replay value is extremely high though. Lots of different modes to play, including a boss rush and speedrun mode. The unlockables will keep you busy for a long time. Leaderboards to try and improve your best times and scores. Not to mention the game is just extremely fun to play. With a very low price (pick up the great DLC also!), theres no reason not to get this game.
