About This Game

"When there's no more room in hell, the dead will walk the earth."

A tribute to the highly acclaimed film series in which the above quote originated from, No More Room in Hell (PC Gamer's Mod of the Year 2011, ModDB's Editor Choice Multiplayer Mod of the Year 2011), is a co-operative realistic first person survival horror modification for the Source Engine. Taking inspiration from George Romero's "Of the Dead" series, the mod is set during a time in which the world is on the verge of collapsing into chaos from a disease whose origin is unknown. Many experts and organizations have their theories and ideas on how such a disease emerged and started to systematically destroy our very way of life, but one fact is clear to all. Whoever perishes from the disease gets up and kills, and the people they killed get up and kill.

The chances of you surviving this all out war of society and the undead are slim to none. Already, there are millions of the walking dead shambling about, searching for food to eat. There's no known cure. One bite can possibly end it all for you. However, you aren't alone in this nightmare. There are still a handful of uninfected survivors left in this god forsaken hellhole, and with co-operation and teamwork, you may live long enough to fight your way to salvation.

Features:

  • Teamwork: Co-operative play with up to eight players.
  • Voice and Text Communications Limited by Distance: The further you're away the harder it is for other players to hear you. Keep those walkie talkies close!
  • Dynamic Objective Maps: The next playthrough may not be the same as the last!
  • Survival Mode: Defend and maintain your shelter against the undead in the hopes of getting extracted to a safe area.
  • A Realistic Approach: In short, no crosshairs with limited "only when you want it" HUD. In addition, ammo and weapons are extremely scarce. With that in mind, aim down your sights and shoot for the head!
  • Multitude of Different Opponents: Ranging from the iconic "walking zombie" to the more contemporary "runners", NMRiH will keep you on your toes with a mix of dangerous foes to face down. However, the most dangerous enemy may not always be the walking dead...
  • Infection: One bite may be what it takes to bring you down. If infected, you must decide if you want to alert your team to rid you of your burden, or to keep quiet in the hopes of finding a cure...
  • 30+ weapons and counting, ranging from the diminutive .22 Target Pistol, to the almighty Chainsaw.
  • No pay to win items
  • No ads
  • 100% Free

Planned Features:

  • National Guard NPCs - Will they help you or see you as just another walker?
  • Full dismemberment - gibs for arms and legs instead of just the head
  • More gamemodes including a mode that mixes Survival with Objectives
  • New and varied zombie types - SWAT/Military zombies with body armor
  • More playable characters (including females)
  • Stat tracking along with Steam Achievements - With the possibility of unlockable items
  • More frequent updates with Steam support
  • More maps and overall content with Steam support
No More Room in Hell is a Half-Life 2 Zombification. The mod was founded in 2003. It switched hands and a new team took over in 2009. Beta version 1.0 was released on Halloween of 2011. I REALLY wanna write a positive review... But on the grouds that this game can\'t even keep 1 FPS, let alone 60X that... I can\'t say anything noteworthy... The kicker is.,.. I have a machine that should max this in 1440P without a hitch! (It plays HL2 at 300FPS maxed out in 1440P btw)

Spec so you can try it on a testbed:

AMD FX8150 CPU
16GB DDR3-1333 RAM
Gigabyte GA-970A-DS3P motherboard
AMD Radeon HD7950 (x2, Crossfire enabled. This makes no difference if it\'s disabled or not)
Windows 10 x64
Using AMD Radeon Crimson 16.4 drivers

When you're playing with random people, it's decent. However, playing this game with a friend is an absolute BLAST. If you have a friend you play games with a lot, share this game with them and play it together.

If you're not good with survival tactics and fortifying rooms, than this isn't really the game for you. However, even if you aren't good with that sort of thing, there are servers that have things to make the game easier. It's not a waste because it's an entirely free game. It's crazy that a Half Life 2 mod can turn into a great game.

This game is a wonderful way to spend time. I mean if you don't really feel like waiting for the Left 4 Dead series to go on sale, but you just want to kill zombies, get this game. Sometimes it's hard finding a room that isn't mission-oriented, but you will find one. A little bit of help for those new to the game. Some servers will allow you to pick your equipment.

I'll do this in steps (by memory, I haven't played in months.)
1. type !guns
2. pick your preferred weapon group (pistols, rifles, shotguns, automatics, etc etc.)**

** = you really want a semi-automatic weapon as you'll run out of rounds loaded in your weapon quick and not do much damage to the infected and end up reloading a lot. a weapon like the Winchester rifle is my preferred weapon, as it penetrates the military zombies' helmets with its .357 rounds, and if you reload once every 2 shots.

3. Grab medical supplies: Pills, gene therapy shot, bandages, first aid kit. These are essential.
3a. Pills and the gene therapy shot stave off the infection if you are infected.
3b. Bandages keep you from bleeding out.
3c. First aid kit heals your hitpoints.

Once you have everything, toss your ammo (The !guns servers usually have unlimited ammo so you don't need it taking up your inventory.)

By the time you're done the round will have started. Get close (Yes I said close) to the infected and fire. Aim for the head and stay calm. Panic firing will get you killed. Also, step backwards every time you fire and hit the reload key. Use shove if a zombie gets too close and don't ever... EVER use a melee weapon. Getting too close to a zombie usually lets them bite you. As does getting surrounded. Just find a nice spot with your Winchester, aim. Fire. reload. repeat.
And most of all, have fun.

Well, I picked up this game after a while. I found a rather interesting gameplay that at first proved difficult, but after learning to deal with a more realistic HUD (which was a breath of fresh air when i got used to it) and the unique mechanics of "infection" in this game, not normally attempted by games.
This infection mechanic produces the eventual death of your character, at which point the corpse (as opposed to dissapearing on normal death) changes before your eyes into a zombie, and upon respawning said zombie is stiil present until killed.

Due to the different zombie types, unique gameplay, guns, guts, fun, and relatively tame community (I understand there's definitely some of "THOSE" out there, I haven't really had more than a few problems with them and usually all they'll do is just annoy people in trivial ways that can mostly be ignored or muted, no big deal.

All in all, if you find a good server (there's plenty to choose from and you should have no problem doing so), or 2 or 3, you'll have fun. I hope to see you ingame, and to be able to kill some zombies while we're at it.

10/10, best ever

Worst game I have ever played in my life. Wdf is this crap. I have no idea how this game get this positive reviews probably biased. I cant find anything makes me play this game or recommend to others. Is this really considered as a game. Holy crap then god save the future of gaming. 15 years ago when I play pokemon on a gameboy it was much much fun and those emulator games have better mechanics then this crap. Even movement in this game is buggy and glitchy.

Zephyr, survival.

I join a server just in time for the mad dash for items of value at the start, managing to pick myself up an ak 47 with twenty rounds of ammunition.

I look around me, see others with better weapons, and others that could only grab a pipe or knife, consider myself lucky.

"Hey man, can I have that ak?" I turn around, jason bateman points a 22 pistol at my head. His name-tag reads 'darkman'.

"No, you got a gun already."

"nah man it's a 22- it's ♥♥♥♥."

"You can't have the ak."

"♥♥♥♥ you."

Necessary dialogue is exchanged in the starting area, people form alliances, grudges, allies and enemies. I find myself pairing up with a guy called 'shitler', who picked up a sledgehammer and a few medical items.

We then head down the lower extremeties of the building, going by a staircase until we finally reach the first door. Moans can be heard on the other side, along with the unmistakable slapping of feet on the ground.

"Hey heshy, you go first, you got the ak." someone says.

I oblige, pushing open the door and entering partly.

It's a medium sized car park area, cars srewn about, left like ghosts of some ancient civilisation, and plenty of zombies too, slower ones, walking around aimlessly, and perhaps three runners at the back.

I focus my attention on the immediate danger, centre the iron sights and take aim on the closest runner, about four metres away, making a beeline straight for me.

I stay trained on it's head, waiting for the right moment, ready to pull the trigger before I hear the door behind me creak shut.

"Shoulda given the ak." It's darkman, decided to trap me in here in hopes of satisfying some mis-guided want for revenge.

I pull the trigger, or rather hit mouse1, but the sound of the door put me out of focus and jutted my aim off to the left.

The bullet whizzes through the air, and chunks of rock and dust particles fly out from the wall behind the runner.

Too late.

The runner is upon me now, and my only reaction is to frantically hit 'v' as fast as I can. I push him away with the side of my rifle, stumbling it.

This gives me enough time to point my gun in its general direction, wildly firing into the oncoming swarm of zombies.

I waste about twelve rounds before two runners and a walker goes down.

Eight rounds left. Conservation top priority.

I take the time to glance at chat. It's wild. People are arguing. Words whizz by like matrix graphics, and I'm just glad no-one's using voice com.

At this, I hold 'shift' and book it to the corner of the room; there's a keypad and a locked wire-mesh door that leads into a small office.

someone says "6064" In chat.

I punch it in, no response. turn around, gun aimed, fire three more shots. This time more accurate, on point. manage four kills. The door I came out from is frantically juttering open and shut, whilst people battle to open it or close it.

"7175" Someone else says.

I punch it in, key pad flashed green and the door opens.

Inside, a shelf filled with boxes, a computer desk with a handgun resting on it.

I pick it up. 45 cal.

there's also a button in the corner- I press it, shutters are lowered and the street outside is now available to us.

10/10 would be a reluctant hero again.

This game is very atmospheric ... Fans of this subject, it will have to taste. Given the fact that it is free, it can be said that it is very good. zombie pile of paid games do not transfer because the atmosphere of terror and house of the living dead as creation. I recommend it to everyone. Certainly not for the people who are important graphic composes.

Very cool zombie/FPS/survival game. Almost any calculator can run this game and it is a ton of fun. BUT it is very COOP based and if you dont have at least 2 more active players ( eiteher friends or people you meet via steam ) the maps will be hard to survive, This is a team game and defenetly not for the solo players out there, UNLES YOU A FPS GOD ! .

Humans are such wonderfull playthings, yet life is such a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ game

Considering this is a free to play game, it is very very good and was a lot of fun to play with friends. Playing with random people was however not as pleasant so I would recommend to play this with someone you know.

The game is very challenging at times which is also nice and maps are quite diverse and interesting to explore.

Definately worth checking out if you enjoyed playing Left4Dead.

P.S. Watching your zombie self trying to eat your team mates is very fun!

We can dress as a zombie aswell, wow.
It'll gonna be so cool if when we're died, we'll turn into a zombie and fight along with those zombie NPCs.

9/10

This game is seriously sick, and it's free what have you got to lose? besides hours of your life to murdering hoards of zombies!

We NEED more people playing this, now.

This game is truly amazing. It stands up to its purpose and motto. It entertains people for hours and hours. There are alot of things to discover in this fantastic game and the first thing you will discover is FUN! It's horror theme matches with the game concept.

Once you enter the game the fun and adventure qualities will immediately help you enjoy the game. Although you may think all is lost once you and your team are almost destroyed by the zombies, you'll notice the need to bash their head in with Fubar, reunite, dont give up, and to make it to the end.

Finishing a map feels so good. Knowing that you survived an apocalypse and did it with a few people and got extracted by the military is amazing isn't it? A game this amazing and smartly made is just cool. I would really play it.

Overall score for me:

9.5/10
Fun Factor: Good for halloween gaming and could really make you happy.
Lagginess Level: Even low-spec computers can handle this game really easily.
Values to be distributed: Strength, Determination, and Teamwork

2 Words to describe this game: Pure Fun.

Well well well, the game that drove me insane.
Honestly, the game is fun. I like the zombie survival games.
This one though...just has that dificulty factor.
It's hard..but it's still easy at the same time.
I also loved the fact that you could get infected and become a zombie. Not many zombie games do that.
All in all, I just love them game.
