About This Game

"When there's no more room in hell, the dead will walk the earth."

A tribute to the highly acclaimed film series in which the above quote originated from, No More Room in Hell (PC Gamer's Mod of the Year 2011, ModDB's Editor Choice Multiplayer Mod of the Year 2011), is a co-operative realistic first person survival horror modification for the Source Engine. Taking inspiration from George Romero's "Of the Dead" series, the mod is set during a time in which the world is on the verge of collapsing into chaos from a disease whose origin is unknown. Many experts and organizations have their theories and ideas on how such a disease emerged and started to systematically destroy our very way of life, but one fact is clear to all. Whoever perishes from the disease gets up and kills, and the people they killed get up and kill.

The chances of you surviving this all out war of society and the undead are slim to none. Already, there are millions of the walking dead shambling about, searching for food to eat. There's no known cure. One bite can possibly end it all for you. However, you aren't alone in this nightmare. There are still a handful of uninfected survivors left in this god forsaken hellhole, and with co-operation and teamwork, you may live long enough to fight your way to salvation.

Features:

  • Teamwork: Co-operative play with up to eight players.
  • Voice and Text Communications Limited by Distance: The further you're away the harder it is for other players to hear you. Keep those walkie talkies close!
  • Dynamic Objective Maps: The next playthrough may not be the same as the last!
  • Survival Mode: Defend and maintain your shelter against the undead in the hopes of getting extracted to a safe area.
  • A Realistic Approach: In short, no crosshairs with limited "only when you want it" HUD. In addition, ammo and weapons are extremely scarce. With that in mind, aim down your sights and shoot for the head!
  • Multitude of Different Opponents: Ranging from the iconic "walking zombie" to the more contemporary "runners", NMRiH will keep you on your toes with a mix of dangerous foes to face down. However, the most dangerous enemy may not always be the walking dead...
  • Infection: One bite may be what it takes to bring you down. If infected, you must decide if you want to alert your team to rid you of your burden, or to keep quiet in the hopes of finding a cure...
  • 30+ weapons and counting, ranging from the diminutive .22 Target Pistol, to the almighty Chainsaw.
  • No pay to win items
  • No ads
  • 100% Free

Planned Features:

  • National Guard NPCs - Will they help you or see you as just another walker?
  • Full dismemberment - gibs for arms and legs instead of just the head
  • More gamemodes including a mode that mixes Survival with Objectives
  • New and varied zombie types - SWAT/Military zombies with body armor
  • More playable characters (including females)
  • Stat tracking along with Steam Achievements - With the possibility of unlockable items
  • More frequent updates with Steam support
  • More maps and overall content with Steam support
No More Room in Hell is a Half-Life 2 Zombification. The mod was founded in 2003. It switched hands and a new team took over in 2009. Beta version 1.0 was released on Halloween of 2011. Playing No More Room in Hell for the first time with my friend. Didn't know anything about the game exept there where zombies in it. We made it about halfway trough the map when I got bit by a zombie. I did not know I was infected, so a while later when my screen began turning green I asked my friend what it was. He said I was infected and he had to kill me.

Now since I did not want to die I ran out of the door into a horde of zombies that appeared out of nowhere. I managed to escape butthe zombies swarm into the room and killed everyone else. I died right after.

10/10
Would zombie again.

This game honestly surprised me. I, myself am not a free to play type of person, in fact I think most, 90% of free-to-plays are absolute ♥♥♥♥ designed to try and suck money out of me. Not this one, this is up there in some of my favorite f2p games, and yes, I'll admit, this game isn't without it's flaws but it's one game that has semi changed my opinion on Free-to-Play.

Let me start with the good, for a Source Game, an engine of 10+ years, this game looks great, apart from zombies looking like they came out of a low budget B-movie horror flick and the no texture bug which appears on the eyes of some characters (I laugh this one away and think of it as an intended bug for immersion) it's pretty good. In some of the settings, they've hidden away a few graphics options that are experimental such as Lens Flare but is worth enabling. NMRiH really immerses you into the thought that you are a survivor and must get through this with it's graphics, the vanilla maps have been designed very well for immersion in mind. The lighting creates this bleak atmosphere that not many other Survival Horror games create, Left 4 Dead (yes the lighting is still very good but not like NMRiH in any way), DayZ to name a few. It keeps to a certain design framework that really wants to keep you immersed and constantly on alert as every dark corner there may be undead lurking. It emphases the use of Flashlights which are possibly one of the best utilities seen in any game I've played.

Away from the Atmosphere and the Graphics, the combat matches this very well. Ammo for guns is rare, something that really does fit a realistic scenario of such a thing happening and it requires you to make every shot count. Melee combat is interesting too as it has an invisible stamina meter, requiring you to time your swings and make every bit of your energy count. Weapons like Sledgehammers, FUBARs and Shovels drain it more but with the chance of one hit kills and possibly killing multiple zombies, other weapons, like Machetes, Hatchets, don't do as much damage but use little stamina, keeping you on in the fight. That moves me onto the next great thing about this game, the variety of weapons and how they each have a destined purpose. Pistols are great, they're all different and have their own specialties. The Beretta M9 is a 9mm Pistol and the ammo is rather common, it's a 2 hit kill and my favorite pistol due to the sights being better than that of the other 9mm, the Glock 17 which has a larger ammo capacity but worse sights, again in my opinion. Weapons are so varied with it's uses that they're all worth trying to match your game style. Would you like to pick up the M16 or would you rather take a more recyclable approach with a Compound Bow.

Other mechanics in this game away from combat is the ability to become infected and must be warded off with Phlanx Pills (a reference to one of my all time favorite novels by Max Brookes - World War Z) or Gene Therapy, which completely cures you. You can barricade entrances with a claw hammer and some wooden planks, end your teammates (or yourself) to rid them of the burden that may encumber you later in game and more. You can even change your character and his voice. I'm not going to go much more in detail with the other mechanics, these are the best ones, so you'll have to encounter some of the other ones in game yourself.

This section is dedicated to the AI and the Level Design. I'm not gonna lie, the AI really needs patching up, it's ♥♥♥♥ing ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ and needs some work. However it's predictable and unpredictable nature (yes the AI is both) keep you on constant alert. An infected teammate has gone down, where the hell could he be? Well he's glitched out running in circles around where you turned. That's one major issue with the game. Away from AI, the levels are really good. If you're playing slowly, they can sometimes take up to 30 minutes to complete and can be quite the blast if you're last man standing. The maps, each and every one of them are unique and require different objectives and many of them have different paths for different playthroughs. Not major though, but something to change up gameplay each time.

All in all NMRiH is a great F2P game, a slightly cancerous community as I've encountered many annoying little kids in my mere 30 hours of gameplay but overall pretty damn good. 8/10.

-Plays on a hardcore serious server
-nearly at the end of the map
-gets bitten for the second time
-realizes shortly afterwords that I'm infected
-team turns aginst me
-I take out five (5) of them
-I run away before they take me out
-takes out their Colt M1911 and commits suicide

10/10 Would fail the mission because even suicide is fun in this game again...

- When u play this game too mutch and too active, game starting get boring.
- Game can be laggy somethimes. Some peoples got lag with no reason even with strong PC.
- Peoples are quiting too often. This is one of the biggest game problems. Its just too mutch servers.
- Official maps repeating too often. Need more official maps. At least half more.
- Some weaker players geting achievements by cheat way on cheaters servers. So u can't count it and compare.

+ Great co-op game.
+ A lot community maps.
+ Not high requirements for PC (more peoples can play).
+ Interesting to learn all tactics, tricks and become a pro.
+ Gives good challenge with weak team on classic modes.
+ Very strong game as F2P.
+ U can play side modes like Dodgeball whitch if fun with balanced teams.
+ Not bad variety of guns and mellee weapons.
+ Learning mellee tactics requires serious skills somethimes.
+ Game is challenging when most of team is dead, zombies flooding inside and surounding you and your home.
+ Soundtrack somethimes is solid.
+ Runs with different Windows, Mac systems.
+ Looking nice.
+ Soild allaround game. Especially F2P, so u can check this game out. Its wort it.
