I'll start this again with: Ys game, buy it.
This is the first two games of the series remastered in some really pretty 2d, with a choice of original or remixed music, and an overall presentation upgrade. Even if you've never played them in any form before, it's a truly classic quest that really brings to mind how much charm 80s/early 90s game design and presentation had. Grew up watching anime in the early 90s on VHS and playing Mega CD RPGs? This is exactly how this game feels.
Anyway, you are Adol the Red, adventurous youth! You wash up on the beach of an area in which mysterious happenings are afoot, and being the man of adventure you are, you investigate, being drawn into the legend of Ys, an entire continent that went missing according to local lore. Your adventure will involve magic, swordsmanship, WALLCRUSHING and a whole lot of running into stuff. You will wonder how that was ever a good idea for a battle system, but you'll learn to love it. Think of it as Zelda with your sword permenantly extended infront of you and that's more or less how it plays, with a little top down shootiness added in Ys 2 to spice things up. Boss fights will make you tear your hair out. Puzzles will confuzzle you. Luta Gemma will wind up sleepwalking into your bathroom. Dogi will crush your walls. The Goddesses will never love you. THIS IS VIDEOGAMING.
The definitive version of a true unsung classic!
