"This is a quality piece of software. Even without the extra modules, this is simply amazing. The SU-25T is one of my favourite jets of all time, and it is brilliantly realised here, with so much content you feel guilty for getting it for free.

This only goes to show the confidence that DCS have in there Digital Combat Simulator, that they would give you so much for free. Stop reading this and go and download it now!." – Hubpages

"DCS World is a must-have for simulation enthusiasts who want as real as you can get in their home PC." – SimHQ

My Opinion: I could honestly say I love this game. It has such a realistic feel that not many flight simulators have. When I started I was just using the free modules, once I got hooked I started spending money on the game. The first module I bought was the UH-1H Huey and if you have ever played with it you will know how big of a learning curve there is. The Ka-50 is like flying with butter (it means its easy) unlike the Huey where you need to put the pedals and stick to a certain position so you can get into a good hover. If you ever look at the manuaIs for some of the aircraft it goes so indepth I feel like I'm acually studying to fly the thing. I love this game.

Prices: The prices for each module tell you what kind of experience you will get. In most cases cheap modules will give you a non-clickable cockpit and less functions. In most cases more expensive modules will give you a clickable cockpit more function. Each module is like a new game. It's pretty simple.

Bugs: The game has bugs like anyother. At this point I have been able to shrug them off and laugh at them. There are a couple screenshots on my profile of the bugs.

Conclusion: If you want a realistic military aircraft simulator, you dont mind spending money on modules, and you can be patient when learning a new aircraft this is probably the game for you.

Thank you for reading my review.

2. Tries to ignite jet engine ,
3. see light pop up in the cockpit
4. i heard my engine start
5. contact ATC for permission to take off
6. take off successfully
7. seeing enemy jet, tries to lock it
8. googled manual for locking enemy planes [15 minutes]
9. tries to shoot it down
10. all weapon fired,
11. realize i have no air-to-air missiles
12. seeing my ally base being bombed by my own bomb

15/10 want to bomb another ally base
BEST JET FOGHTER SIMULATOR, i recomend you to bu a $20+ plane, coz it is all clickable cockpit.
if the pprice below it, you can't click any instrument ( all just go auto model)

So, DCS World is an incredible niche hardcore flight simulator. You need a HOTAS and realistically head tracking, and if you don't know what those are you're probably in the wrong place anyway. But I'm not here to tell you about all that. I'm here because some of the negative reviews for this game are amazing.

"Too much controls to remember"
"Horrible game way too confusing"
"Confusion simulator 2015"
"...unfortunately, this is one of those 'overly realistic' simulators."
"Wtf did I just download?"

Hard to argue with any of them, actually. Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to go back to flying my A-10C.

Disclaimer - non steam user review, steam h dont count.

I'm with DCS since its grandpa Flanker 2.0,
I own all the modules and I lost count how many hours I spent on this simulator.

First of all I want to make two things clear:
1- this is single player simulator (MP is a addition) hence any comparison that people makes to War thunder are simply wrong. WT is a MP focused game hence it revolves around balancing - for this reason you can forget about realism in WT.

2- about the "DLC`s" and supposed "pay 2 win" - those are not DLC`s in your normal steam understanding.
Apart from Flaming Cliffs aircrafts, every other Module is a in fact a study sim of a aircraft.
(A-10C and Blackshark were in fact stand alone sims)
That means you are getting fully modelled and simulated machine, with all working systems and avionics and with clickable cockpits. In fact to even take off you need to at least read through 10 maybe 20 pages of a manual.
Said manuals are usually 200 or even more pages long.
As far as high pricing is concerned - those planes gave me months or more of entertainment and will be doing so. For me all of them are worth the full price.

And this is why I`m in love with this simulator.
Apart from extraordinary attention to quality of each and every aircraft, DCS is the only simulator next to X-plane that uses "virtual wind tunnel" method to calculate the aerodynamics.
Thanks to this the feeling and immersion is unmatchable - I own many flight sims and addons but only DCS gives me the feeling that I`m in control of a real plane.
Second thing worth mentioning is that helicopter flight model in DCS is unmatchable with any other simulator.
Only maybe some helicopters for Xplane comes close.
I can say more - the flight model feels so great I'm spending half of the time just flying and not doing any combat!

What you get with basic DCS for free is also quite impressive - the two free aircrafts are absolutely above the quality of some X-plane/FSX pay-ware addons.
The TF-51 comes with fully modelled systems and click-able cockpit for example.

Plus simulator has powerful mission editor where you can create from scratch any type of mission/event you desire.

If that's not enough DCS stands for Digital Combat Simulator - you can already drive ground units thanks to Combined Arms expansion.

DCS is the best combat flight simulator on the market today, nothing gets even close to this- if you remember first Janes`s sims - you know what I mean.

Advice - before jumping into the DCS World - familiarize yourself with what the product is, and be prepared for very steep learning curve.
Also it is STRONGLY recommended to use joystick and head tracking device such as Trackir to fully immerse yourself into this sim.

Recommended beyond any doubts to any flight sim enthusiast.

This is probably the most realistic flight simulator out there (with the non FC3 aircraft). In this simulator it is no game, you have to learn how to fly, operate avionics, radios and weapons. Even though the learning curve for the advanced aircraft might seem big there are interactive tutorials that will teach you, which is better than reading some of the multi-hundred page manuals (which should be read when wanting to know how to operate something in the plane if the tutorial missed something). The world in this game is huge, mountains, ocean, towns/ cities. You can achieve long range flights with the map size. Also there is aireal refueling (only with the A-10C and most FC3 aircraft) which caters even more to long range flights. As some of you probably knew before you read this, that DCS is a combat simulator. So on top of having planes with realistic flight characteristics and avionics, you also have the ability to use that planes' weapons. The weapons are just as realistic as the planes, and yes, bombing with planes like F-86F is just as hard as it always.

The only thing that is missing from DCS is more modern fighters that are not like FC3 aircraft, so far the A-10C is the only modern plane (but it is only a A/G aircraft) and from what I heard the F/A-18C is coming to DCS so hopefully it will expand the variety of planes and helicopters in the future
