About This Game

Cry of Fear is a psychological single-player and co-op horror game set in a deserted town filled with horrific creatures and nightmarish delusions. You play as a young man desperately searching for answers in the cold Scandinavian night, finding his way through the city as he slowly descends into madness. With a strong emphasis on cinematic experience, immersion and lateral thinking, players will be taken on a nightmare rollercoaster-ride through the grim streets of Fäversholm and beyond. Not everything is as it seems...

Cry of Fear originally started out as a Half-Life 1 modification, set in the same vein as the classic survival horror games of old. 4 years in the making and picking up several modding awards on the way, it is now a free, standalone game for anyone to enjoy. Beware though, it's not for the faint of heart.

Key Features:

  • Huge single-player campaign with over 8 hours of gameplay
  • Multiple endings and over 20 different unlockables to keep you playing
  • Full length co-op campaign with up to 4 players

  • Terrifying and unforgettable atmosphere
  • 24 different and unique weapons to choose from
  • Unlockable extra campaign after beating single-player
  • Original soundtrack comprises over 5 hours of haunting, melodic music

Hello, I love this game, and it is indeed my favorite game, but something went wrong and I need help...Can y'all maybe help me?

I got this game once I got a new Desktop Computer and this game was fine, it had smooth controls, and great graphics. Unfortunately, my Desktop stopped working and then I lost everything. I downloaded the game again on a new computer I got, It downloaded fine, until I went to launch/open it. I go to click on the game, but it won't open, I can see a box trying to pop up and say "Preparing to launch Cry of Fear" but the box and the *Steam* icon "On your quick access toolbar" would dissapear. I tried turning off the computer but it still won't launch, I downloaded another game I like and it opens/launches smoothly, but Cry of Fear just won't seem to work. If I can get some Feedback or Help on what to do, I would thankfully appreciate it, thanks.

And If I get it to working tomorrow "It's 2:30 AM over here right now" I will either post another reveiw or comment on this one and say it worked. Thank you Andreas Ronnberg "Sorry I didn't put the two dots above the o, it won't let me." and the rest of the Psykskallar Team for making this amazing Game and Soundtracks, have a wonderful day in beautiful Sweden.

Awful voice acting is really my only complaint. The game is built on the goldsrc (the same one Half-Life 1 runs on) engine, and has tight controls and excellent combat. The scares are really nice, and the jump scares are few and far between. It's very atmospheric, and even has a co-op function. It's also free. FREE.

It'll also even run on potato PC's. So pick this up. What do you have to lose, honestly?

CoF is scary and is an improvement from previous mod Afraid of Monsters with two of the developers being part of this team. There are many original enemies and it used the GoldSrc engine from HL1 in a good way with different mechanics and movement. Levels are original and you fight many bosses. There are also co-op and an alternate story mode with more endings, counting a total of 6 endings (4 from original single player and 2 from these other modes). 10/10

YESSSSSSS
This is the game that introduced me to the horror genre. I am TERRIBLE with guns in games (normally), but I made my way through this one fine. There were a few challenging places, but overall, I could handle it. I love the dark storyline and creativity of the various monsters. Being free makes it all the better! Definitly worth the download and time!
