F.E.A.R. Online Xmas update is live!

Welcome to the F.E.A.R. Online Xmas update!

Lots of stuff for good little boys and girls, and some things for the naughty ones too!

Let’s dive right in with the good stuff:

Armored Front mode is here!

Making its return for the first time since Closed Beta, this is one mode the hardcore F.E.A.R. Online fans have been eagerly awaiting! Rounds are fought in a domination style point-capture fashion. The difference here is in the firepower on offer!

Controlling two of the five points unlocks your team’s Powered Armor. These huge Mech suits feature twin heavy cannons and a missile storm attack!
In order to offer some balance for the foot soldier, this mode also features rocket launchers, chaff grenades and turret guns! Asymmetric warfare has seldom been this intensely chaotic!

Daily log-in event!

We noticed a lot of players missed the Daily Reward event so we decided to give you what you want!
Log-in every day over the next couple of weeks to unlock progressively awesome loot!

Xmas Skins and Xmas Dolls are here!

The Alma dolls are back, this time in full seasonal livery!
We have spruced up some of the most popular weapons in the game to give players a chance to deck the halls with bowels and horror.

In addition, we have introduced some festive gear for the truly Xmas mad!
Collect Xmas Alma dolls in-game for your chance to unlock these unique limited items. The Xmas grenade is especially seasonal!

All new weapons!

The Vollmer Ultra92 is the new craftable weapon and is only available by winning Armored Front matches. This shotty gives a higher ROF in exchange for some range and accuracy. At short range it is nothing short of devastating!

The M4A1 SAS is a fully customized version of one of the most popular weapons in-game. Available from capsule chests, this may well become the weapon of choice for discerning soldiers.

Clan Marks now available!
In response to players’ wishes, we have introduced the ability to give your clan its own heraldry with the introduction of Clan Marks! With up to 18,000 possible combinations, you can find the mark that truly belongs to your clan!

Four new Psionics available!

There are some potentially game-changing new Psionics available in-game! Choose from silent movement, Melee damage increase, a Mech weapon cooldown boost and the ability to Curse anyone foolish enough to frag you twice! We are really interested in seeing how players put these to use!

Hope you enjoy the new content and events!

Keep an eye on our Facebook and news pages for Xmas events and promos!

Happy hunting F.E.A.R. Fans!!!

Story

True Fear Never Dies...

Welcome to Fairport.

Not too long ago, it was a nice place to live. It had a vibrant downtown area, highly rated schools, a busy shipping harbor, and a bustling commercial area centered on the headquarters of Armacham Technology Corporation, a multi-billion dollar conglomerate that developed technology for military purposes. But like any other city there were rumors of a darker side; stories of children going missing, cries of strange creatures in the night, and the presence of armed mercenaries in the streets. As suspicious as they might have been, these rumors were never substantiated and they were never investigated by the authorities.

Then one day Paxton Fettel showed up at the ATC headquarters with an army of Replica soldiers, and people started to die. Someone had to act. The government sent both the F.E.A.R. team and a Delta Force squad into the city; F.E.A.R. to deal with Fettel himself, and Delta to bring in ATC President Genevieve Aristide so that she might explain what role her company may have had in Fettel's advanced psychic abilities.

The F.E.A.R. team managed to eliminate Fettel, but Alma Wade was released from captivity in the process. To try and stop her from escaping, F.E.A.R. sabotaged the facility where Alma had been held, triggering a nuclear explosion that leveled half the city. Meanwhile, Delta Force had made contact with Aristide and was preparing to extract her when the explosion struck. Delta went dark, and Aristide's whereabouts are unknown.

After the explosion, all hell broke loose in Fairport. Strange creatures and apparitions roamed the streets, citizens across the city reported mass hallucinations, and it became clear that Armacham had been up to some strange and frightening research. In order to cover up what their involvement might have been in these events, ATC soldiers started moving all across the city, destroying places where sensitive research was taking place and eliminating anyone they felt wouldn't keep hold of their secrets.

In order to bring the situation in the city under control, the government decided to send in the Task Force, a new military tactical unit comprised of soldiers with psionic abilities. Their orders are to engage ATC soldiers, acquire information on ATC's secret research projects, and dispose of any unforeseen threats that may have surfaced after the explosion.

This used to be a nice place to live.
All there is to be found here now is a full-scale war, with both ATC and the Task Force fighting tooth and nail to deal with the madness in the streets.

Welcome to Fairport.

Welcome to F.E.A.R. Online.

This game ruined F.E.A.R for me.... If it is going to be multiplayer add more co-op and maybe survival maps against swarming waves of npcs that get additionally harder after every wave would be be a good game mode, but the multiplayer isn't that well made and I don't like the loot system. You can however unlock stuff by playing enough which is nice. I downloaded the game because i've beaten the previous games in the series and it just seems like now they ruined the "fear" part of the game.

This game does not feel like something that should have the F.E.A.R title attached to it. What it is is a generic MMOFPS with a few F.E.A.R logos and mechanics sprinkled in. It's not like F.E.A.R Combat that had the feel and look of the original game. It feels somewhat lacking in what it could be.

With that said, is the game fun? Yes and No. It's fun, but totally unfair to new player. No matchmaking system, lack of any number of guns, a lot of items require real money and the good stuff you have to wait until level 3-4, which doesn't sound like much until you get blasted by someone hiding in a dark corner 30 times and you can't level up worth a damn.

It keeps crashing and seems like its not ready to be released almost feels like the game is in Alpha, since the servers dont work and I cant even make it to the main screen without it crashing and verifying with the "Main client" F.E.A.R game owners deserve better than this since they terminated Console FEAR Origin Online...Kinda sad.

This game has lots of conflicting software, I needed to make 2 nicknames just to play, while fear 1 looked clean, dynamic and heavy this is just a lazy game res weightless mess. killcams, adds, its all just unappealing enough for me not to continue once it got jumpy and kicked me for having google chrome or itunes open in the background. it honestly thinks it can just close on its own because it thinks Utorrent will help me get a kill even tho I can get into a game for a solid 10min before it throws a hissy fit about my tabs. Other people are hacking and clearly having a less stressfull time with this game and that is funny.

I really couldn't tell you all if this game was worth getting. Reason for that is the game always crashes when booting up. And I got a nice rig. Don't waste your time downloading it as it is only a waste of hard drive space

-The scariest thing about this game is the graphics.

This game may look good if you watch the trailer but be warned it is nothing like that. You may only play 3 PvE matches a day unless you pay although after playing 3 you will be glad you don´t have to play another; the graphics look like they are from 2007 and the voice acting is awful. You will be forced on to the repetitive team deathmatch games within 20 mins of gameplay. Another problem with this game is that it falls within the pay to win side of free games; most of the wepons are locked to premium money only. You will constantly find yourself getting your ♥♥♥ kicked by the people who have payed for better gear.

Despite all the bad things about this game you can still get some fun out of mele matches which fall under the so bad its good catagory for me and the mutation matches which are satisfying as long as you are one of the mutants. As much as I
hate this game at least it is free and for a free game it does have good production value; most of the free games I have played do not have a story line and as rubbishy as this ones is at least it tries. I would not recomend this game although I do respect the people who made it for at least trying to give it some sort of story instead of just having the generic multipayer fps. I would rate it at 4.5/10.

Installs a malware that scans your harddrive for "malicious" software every time you attempt to play it. Once it is successful in that endeavour it boots you out of the game. In my case this happened to be "NetLimiter", a program that allows you to limit the bandwith usage of individual programs. F.E.A.R. doesn't like that and will want you to uninstall that.

From the 2 minutes I could play the tutorial without interruption I was less than impressed by the graphics that were somehow more advanced in the first F.E.A.R. (which was released in 2005). They tried to mask this by adding an absurd ammount of "film grain" and noise that hurts my eyes.

This game doesn't evoke fear but much rather regret for the time I spent downloading it.

A Fancy Looking Combat Arms.

This game is an absolute disgrace to the F.E.A.R. franchise and the fact that they let it become the same free-to-play garbage as all the other shooters like it is even more a shame. First they launch you in to a tutorial that place out like a small section of the single player of the second game. And I thought at first "oh cool so basically its going to be F.E.A.R. multiplayer with more features." Nope, nope, and NOPE! This game is an absolute joke because once you join a match in the game suddenly the graphics are dumbed down and the way the game plays also gets a dumb down factor as well. It takes no real skill to kill another play basically you put your reticle on the other player and spray and they die (even from across the map). This isn't how F.E.A.R. has ever played its always had it where you would aim down the sights and it would give you a better chance at hitting a player.

This is pretty much a dressed up version of combat arms or Valiant Arms as well. They took the textures and design of F.E.A.R. 2 but put the play style and pay to win formula of the other so ungodly perversions of shoots like combat arms and Valiant arms. I'm actually mad at myself for down loading this garbage game in the first place and I'm not writing this because I'm some sort of hater. I love the F.E.A.R. series its one of my absolute favorite shooters but this game how dare they even take the games name and use it like this. I don't recommend this game and I'm hoping no one goes for this hot mess of a failure. Maybe they will have to shut it down and that will do it some justice. No just hell to the fricken no!

If I was a serious reviewer I would tell you to avoid this game like the plague, but I'm a not... so I advise you to try this brilliant game that is truly one of a kind. Never before have I seen a game that is less than 2 months old and only has 20 people playing it at any given time. It is truly a marvel of modern game design, using idea's from the 20th centuary and somehow making it so much worse. I am honestly impressed with InPlay (the developer) they have achieved where many other have failed in making a game that actually made me want to go to sleep early. But on the bright side it runs at more than 30FPS, every cloud has a silver lining just like every teenagers ripped condom has "happy" ending.

I would not recommend F.E.A.R Online. It's a mediocre FPS Experience and just looks like a rehash of old F.E.A.R. Games with a ''coop'' mode to play some sort of campaign which you're limited to a certain ammount of tries, after which you need to either have a friend with more tries, or buy more for real money. The cash shop looks like any other generic FPS and the graphics are abysmal. The commnunity was pretty snob (not so much on release but I guess alot were people trying the game). To me, this is just another Aeria Games cash grab (In the same fashion as Nexon or GamersFirst).

P.S. : Most of my playtime was during closed/open beta and before the steam release. The playtime on steam was just to verify if the game changed at all.

EDIT: omg this crap is so crappy, it now says I played only 0.2 hrs. Now that is a lie, I really played it much more, so don't get discouraged by my supposedly low gameplay time. Thanks.

********************************

Anybody knows nice little game called CROSSFIRE? Well F.E.A.R. Online is CrossFire with Alma.

Classic PvP modes with tiny, boring maps, you have to buy everything and some stuff you can't even buy to own forever.

If you like griding or paying to play B.O.R.I.N.G. Online, this is your cup of tea. PvE maps are just plainly dull and needs those special Plans that you have to either buy or get one for free every 8 hours.

ATMOSPHERE
Most frightening was the tutorial. You are alone, weaponless, plenty of scaring stuff going around (although all were cheap tricks that you saw 100 times in previous F.E.A.R. games). Other missions are dull, boring, non-atmospheric shooting galleries.

CRAFTING
Crafting of your items and making them better is very nice idea, but it is here only to either keep you in game longer (a.k.a. countless hours of insanely boring grinding) or to leech some sweet, hard-earned cash of yours.

GAME PROBLEMS
Game lags for a second at random moments, which is very unfortunate in FPS game where twitch reflexes are of the utmost importance. And I got disconnected from a PvP match with no error message, and lost all of those nice EXP I earned so far for kills and assists. How cool is that, guys? Just lovin' it :-D

OVERALL
I say stay away from this crap that only tries to get some more money from the slowly dying franchise, before it fades into oblivion. And ofc play CrossFire, much better game where you can be good even with basic stuff, has much more and more interesting modes, and does not need so much grinding. ;-)

Pros:
+ Multiplayer F.E.A.R. game
+ crafting system to improve your weapons

Cons:
- grind or pay, kids!
- lack of horror atmosphere
- boring modes
- dull PvE stories that lacks everything
- tiny, crappy maps
- some stuff can't be purchased to stay in your inventory forever
- plenty of haxers
- nothing innovative or interesting in here
- cheap rip-off of CrossFire game, with few coloring changes

-Not much more to the game to distinguish it from other fps.

-Combat Arms is scarier.

-THE GAME IS FUN if you can ignore the hundreds of virus warnings, rootkits, in-game lag, laggers&possible hackers (teleporters in every match), the fact that the game was better in alpha than open beta, females have smaller hitboxes, overpriced everything($30 for a permanent character, $15 for 2 of the weakest guns in-game), Aeriagames, Inplay Interactive, fake product code keys, fanboys that don't realize this isn't the same devolopers of the original fear series, imbalanced weapons, GMs that think they're cool but forgot they're working for AeriaGames, AeriaGames again, pointless psionics system, terrible crafting system (spend over 100k in-game cash and possibly still can't make the weapon and if you can the weapon might be nerfed), repetitive and boring small maps, limited access to PVE content, weapon attachments are not permanent, annoying in-game noise, terrible sounds (sometimes you can hear footsteps from all the way across the map but then can't hear footsteps directly behind you), Europeans in the North American server & vice versa, you will be banned for making honest and fair suggestions.

-Play while high and the game is AMAZEBALLS. Don't do drugs kids.
