[Patch] 1.15 - Teams

April 2nd, 2014

These patch notes are intended to highlight the most significant changes but don’t cover every modification to the game as part of this update.

Key New Features

  • FORGE Teams!
  • Lojki’s Undraskalmor Helm
  • Fixed stability issues
  • Added Shaman Pioneer Armor Set

  • Added Loading screens between store, Guilds, and Teams
  • Created new Character main menu item. Level up is now a sub menu of Character
  • Added a new Player Profile screen to view your badges. Currently only the
  • Lojki’s April Exclusive badge is there.
  • Ability to receive Admin messages.

  • Ability to Create, join, and manage teams. Players get one team slot for free. VIP players get 3 team slots for free. Additional team slots can be purchased for $0.99 USD in the store.
  • New Lobby system allows members to queue up without needing to be Steam friends first.
  • New chat system is more redundant then the previous chat used for Guild. Guild chat was also updated.
  • Team badges allow teams to level up. Current badges include Seasons, Attendance, Win Streak, and Games played. More to come.
  • First Beta Season has started and runs through the end of April.
  • Season winners are determined by ELO. Your team’s ELO goes up and down based on wins and losses and the ELO of the team you played. Our algorithm is similar to standard ELO algorithms and includes a momentum variable meant to help teams get to their estimated ELO’s quickly but once there to give them more stability. This way a team is not afraid to keep playing once they reach a higher ELO.

Undraskalmor Helm
  • All classes have a new Helm which has green accents. These helms will only be available in April. Once you receive one, you will always have it.
  • The Assassin, Pathfinder, Pyromancer, Shaman, and Warden will all be given away for playing different amounts of Forge.
  • The Ravager and Tinker will be available for $1.99 USD each in the FORGE store.
  • If you collect all 5 Helms from playing in April you will receive the Lojki’s Helm badge.

In order to escape, these gods must sacrifice the weakest of their followers to gain power, so they have pitted fierce devotees and zealous adherents in epic battles on the faceless world of FORGE. Choosing one of seven unique warrior classes, the player must battle head-to-head with other players in a bid to free their god from the clutches of The Devourer. Armed with a set of devastating abilities as well as powerful allies, each warrior must overcome the varied challenges of Forge where every kill is a sacrifice and every sacrifice brings them one step closer to freedom.

key Features

MMO meets FPS: Combat takes place in MMO PvP Arena Style battlegrounds using FPS mechanics and aiming to create a deep, visceral, team oriented experience.

Skills pay the bills: Winners are determined by skill, not character level. No more waiting for your friends to level up so you can play together! Forge evens the odds between new players and max level veterans. Leveling up gives players new attack variants, but it does not provide power increases like other RPGs.

Free to Slay: Forge is free with no “pay to win.” The currency, Ore, is only used to buy cosmetic upgrades, so players get full access to the meaty combat for free. Invite your friends to join in the battle!

Class based combat: Storm the battlefield as the Assassin, Pathfinder, Pyromancer, Shaman, Warden, Tinker or Ravager. Each plays a crucial role on the team, so choose wisely!

Character customization: Spend your hard earned Ore in the Forge store to customize your favorite characters with spectacular armor!

Deep Steam integration: Achievements, Stats, Skill Based Matchmaking, Steam Server Browser, Valve Anti-Cheat, VoIP and the Steam Overlay.

Ever expanding: While Forge has the accessibility and low time requirements of a first person shooter, it will also receive new content on a regular basis like most MMOs.

A diamond in the rough for PvP fans:
It's the kind of game where you can just log in, jump in a game within seconds and start to PvP!
They have a small community so far, but already have a Mumble setup that you can find via the forums where you can chat with gamers, find teammates and even chat with the game devs!
Once this game becomes more finished, and once more people find this game and the player base expands a bit more I feel it will deserve a 10/10 rating.
Its free, try it ^^

I am completely baffled by some of these reviews...

Paywall? Nope. The only thing you can buy are cosmetics.

Unbalanced classes? Nope. This is the most balanced game of its kind, bar none.

Confusing controls? Sure, if WASD still blows your tiny mind. The controls in this game are standard fare FPS-style controls, except with more grace, wall-jumping, mobility talents and a third-person view.

Anyone who reviews it poorly for these reasons probably played one game, lost and rage-quit without giving it a decent chance. This game has the best PvP you'll find. Period.

Total review score 3/10

Total and complete garbage. The initial allure captivated me, as I'm sure it did others, by quality of the graphics, optimization, and concept of game. This quickly sours when one actually gets in game as it becomes painfully obvious that two classes are insanely overpowered (pathfinder and warden), to any class. You're forced to play a class you may not like, just to stand a chance.

Multiplayer? Multifail. Allowing lvl 50+ in a room with noobs. Good luck getting ANYWHERE. Regardless if they are forced to sacrifice one thing over another, they still have the advantage. Regardless if it's skill, they'll still drop you so it's not even worth playing. Not to mention there isn't a large player base (never have I seen more than 20 active players in an entire night), the game stuffs everyone in the same room so you can't fault the players for it, though you could fault them for choosing the same fckn team constantly.

Shop navigation is a horrendous pain, and it becomes apparent that both content (or lack thereof), creative vision, and direction have been totally lost.

There is no point in buying anything in the ONE category offered to regular players, which is armor, because it's only cosmetic. While I like the idea of armor not being pay2win, it shows lack of creativity in that it's not at least play2win that could be easily balanced against another class. To a person of vision that would have given this more than 20 minutes of thought, they would have been able to formulate a way of encouraging sales whilst "maintaining" a "balanced" system; I'll let you determine the justification of the quotation marks.

Overall balance system is overly complex to the point of solo unplayability. Your choices are either to restat based on your natural adversaries, which will only recalculate to give you a new fresh hell, or be completely even across the board which makes 2 game mechanics completely useless and the gameplay itself repetitive. The match victory usually boils down to who lands the first critical blow, although the addition of healing posts helps to combat this... slightly. The team orientation is such that when playing in a room with even just 1 addition foe means loss before start, which I mainly attribute to the stat system and the two aforementioned overpowered classes.

Then they play together of course. Case in point: You are in co-op tdm lets say.. the game will calculate skill, class and match stats (I assume) and give your the corresponding nemesis. Now since the player base is so small, you basically have people that have been with this game longer, and prior to f2p transition that have refused to give up on the game given the premium paid and are a much higher level, which brings a bot of equally pain-in-the-assness to the room. Which means you, as a newcomer, will be dropped constantly leaving your team mate a nearly constant situation of 2v1.

My final critique is the sheer enormity of the maps. While I'm sure they were developed in such fashion as to accommodate a larger player base, it has slowed down gameplay to the speed of cold molasses.

It's impossible for the sane to enjoy this game. In optimistic light, these are the only things I can say about this game: It's pretty, runs smoothly for the most part, and has good artistic design, albeit not practical in game given the spot jump feature yet rounded and distanced geometry coupled with overhanging obstructions.

Forge offers something unique to the third person action genre not with its classes, game modes or rpg elements but with the combination of all the things that make the game what it is. Saying that however I also feel that forge gets old FAST with standard move spamming and few game modes the game to me just got really boring really fast. Now even though I say that forge is still worth a try I enjoyed it for a while so you might like it alot and it definitely offers some unique gameplay, but if its not your thing that's understandable.
