Ensures that you start off with an additional unit - A Medic.
Makes the game easier, otherwise you need to earn cash and purchase a Medic Unit.

Heals Allied Units; Not really that useful early on, especially if you've purchased the pack and have access to the Sniper and Combat unit from the get go. More useful as you progress.

Not essential - but it makes the initial stages much easier
