'The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion' is one of my favorites games and played this game way back in middle school. Coming from 'Morrowind' this game is a vast improvement in nearly every aspect. Morrowind is my personal favorite amongst the franchise, however, I'm not going to deny that Oblivion is an amazing game in nearly every aspect.

Coming from Morrowind, this game blew me away back then since it vastly improved the visuals considering the dead and volcanic region of Morrowind is really contrasted with the bright and colorful vibrancy of Cyrodill. The whole game is alost like a painting since it embodies the typical fantasy aspect of Role-playing games since it's so bright, colorful, but has its dark corners that just beg to be explored. In terms of content, this is packed with several places to explore, all the guilds you are already familiar with if you're coming from 'Skyrim' (e.g.; Dark Brotherhood, Thieves Guild, Fighter's Guild, and Mage's Guild). With that said, Oblvion's flaw with exploring ruins is that the ruins are practically copy-and-pasted. You explore caves and ruins throughout the map of Oblivion, however, they all seem to be very similar in style to the point where you feel you're exploring the same ruins. I remember it was a bragging point from Bethesda prior to Skyrim's release that every dungeon was hand-crafted, meaning that no two places were the same. Although, if you're new to Oblivion, I believe you'll be enamored with the content of Oblivion that you'll always be entertained. Whether it be side-quests, guild quests, you'll be too busy having fun to notice this flaw until dozens of hours into it.

Another preference I have for this game is that the aforementioned praise of Oblivion's vivid world also contrasts it from Skyrim since Skyrim is supposed to be more dark and appears to have a gray filter slapped on it. This game feels more alive in that sense, but it's all in preference since skyrim is practically the land of vikings and mountains so each Elder Scrolls game has appropriate tone to its environment. Furthermore, I much prefer the combat in Oblivion since I love the physics in this game. Seriously, you can shoot someone with an arrow and they'll do a backflip before they ragdoll to the floor. It's awesome. In Skyrim, it's meant to be more realistic so they improved the physics so that they fall more realistically and they even added dual-wielding which was a big added feature. This game lacks dual-wielding, so if you're looking forward to that, sorry bud. On the bright side, the combat is much better to that of Morrowind's since they got rid of the "dice roll" mechanic where you would miss despite them being right in front of your face.

The best elder scrolls by far!

About 100x better than crappy Skyrim.

The story is long and in depth with lots of exploration and challenges. Every dungeon has VARIATION and is not copy and paste of the same thing over and over. There is a WIDE variety of enemys almost no dungeon will have the same two enemys. There are more skills and they implemented into the game better than the other games. The guilds have LONG good storys that make them worth doing. The oblivion gates actually provide a challenge and are set in SPECIFIC locations. No random crap swooping down on you to bother you.

The only down side of this game is the graphics. 10/10 worth every penny.

I a really big fan of TES, but this game does'nt work right, when I start new game, the intro and everything plays, but when I go to the dungeon, all I get is a blue screen, mu HUD shows and stats, and my crosshairs, but thats about it I can look around but there's just a light blue backround, could anyone help me fix this?
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
<Computer Info> problem was HDR, how can I get this to work right!/?? It works now,but HDR has to be disabled

OS:WIN10
RAM:6 GBS
5.89 GB'S usable
and a 464 GB hardrive
core Intel core i5
intel integrated graphics 4000

the game seems to work on very low graphics, but I don't know why it wont render on ultra high?
anyways I rate this game easily 11/10 and sometimes I think the graphics look better than skyrim, but they have there differences.

Don't be fooled by my 0.2 hours on this game. I'd have more, but I realized shortly after purchasing that there is no controller support. I've put probably 1100 hours into the Xbox 360 version of this game, and it is by far one of the best games made. If it had updated graphics, it would definitely beat out Skyrim by the millions in current downloads. I'd definitely say give it a try, due to it's amazing story, and loads of missions and content that'll blow you away. I'd also say to buy the Delux version, so you can get every DLC, including that amazing horse armour that is 10/10 the best DLC in the known universe.

Noticed I never reviewed this game, my favorite Elder Scrolls game.

First off, I have played this game mostly on Xbox 360 at the time it came out. At least 500 hours worth of gameplay, at least.

This game has all that is needed to make it a great RPG.
Quest, Magic, swords, clubs and monsters. Also a modern version of the Morrowind class system.

Being that the newest addition of the Elder Scrolls games, Skyrim, is out at the time I write this I will provide a short review for those that know skyrim but have not played this.

If you do not like Skyrim, but found Morrowind to old fashion. You will enjoy Oblivion greatly.

Pros
-Magic system that is vastly superior to Skyrim and Morrowind.
-Magic spell crafting
-Best Guild Quest lines out of all the Elder Scroll games.
-A large map full of dungeons and monsters.
-LOOOT !!!!
-Large variety of monsters/animals and enemies.
-Potion crafting
-Variety of equipment.
-Very Long and memorable main story quest
-More quest than I can count.
-Shivering Isles DLC adds a huge new land to discover, with quest galor.

Cons
-Unless you level up your level in weapon skills, weapons will do jack ♥♥♥♥ in damage.
-Level Scalling.
-Weapon Scalling.
-Few graphical Gliches in some dungeons.

A great game.

Only a few hours in, and although there aren't too many character customization options like Skyrim does. Ho-ly crap does it make up for the tons of content. I feel like this is the Fallout 3 to Fallout 4, whereas the newer game dumbed down the game a little to cater towards more players, but the earlier one has much better gameplay overall.

3 hours in, and planning on more, as much as my statements probably don't count, considering low playtime. I do reccomend this game, and while it may be confusing at first if you've already played Skyrim, its super addicting.

Please, do yourself a favor, and if you have a life, don't buy this game, but if you don't like the rest of us basement dwellers, pick it up, its totally worth the price.

Oblivions a really great game, but for me the Shivering Isles is what puts this game so far up my favorites. It's funny and random but under all of the craziness is a story I really enjoyed. <3

Do you mind? I'm busy doing the fishstick, It's a very delicate state of mind.

Amazing
Rating: 9/10

Great when it was released despite its flaws. Still holding up strong these days thanks to the mods.
Visiting Cyrodill again is a pleasure even after 10 years.
