In principle we make in the three worlds and a total of 23 levels not much: We are looking only for the exit and go collect as many colorful crystals as possible. The road is in a sense the goal, and that goal is really crowded with lifts, secret rooms, cuddly opponents stones dissolve when we step on it, underwater passages, alternative routes ... in short, with just about everything classic side scroller in the 80s had to offer and 90s so.
And with a trick: By pressing a button we can namely always switch back and forth between blonde Giana and her punky counterpart. The punk variant has a purple mane, but that's not the trick. The trick is that also changes the game world when of said button. And immediately.
While Blondie bounces through a dark nightmare, Purple is a candy-colored mood country road. The smooth change is so wonderfully staged voices that we find ourselves in completely reasonable liberated switch again and again - but we want to see just what exactly now changed again. Because change is happening a lot: The withered plant is the beautiful flower, the grim Cuddly devil to fluffy cuddly owl that just yet so nasty piranhas googly-turtles.
These changes are not just visual gimmick, but playful centrally. A platform is one world out - and not in the other. A lift serves one world to the top - down and in the other. A thorn scrub impales us in a world unceremoniously on - and disappears in the other. In addition, each sister has her own individual ability. Blondie can spin around when jumping and so hover for a short time while Lila mimics the cannon ball and shoots from wall to wall.
As long as we sing along music, depends primarily on how much fun we have in mind to be particularly thorough. Let's Play Twisted Dreams by simply before pleasure after a few hours already over; Finally, we have infinite lives in normal mode and the check points are emphasizes set plentiful. As the game knows accordingly no extra lives (and no powerups), the detection of secret rooms is rather an end in itself and merely serves also to snatch the levels of the last crystals.
Giana Sisters: Twisted Dreams combines satisfying gameplay with dazzling environments to create a worthy platformer.
Score: 81 / 100
