This is what you get when you put '98 and 2002 in a blender, give the whole thing a visual update, and then make the meter the most important mechanic: a game that isn't anywhere near as fresh-feeling or interesting as XI (or '98 or 2002, for that matter), but sure as hell looks pretty.

fast fingers or die

totally opposite of the wellknown "Street Fighter" series,
this game require fast-steady left hand movement and memory

due to the nature of fast game speed,
players are demanded to have almost cat like reflexes
not recommended for beginners or starters

150 hours and still suck, but I will go on.

Every combo, every hit, and every block feel right. This is easily the best fighting game I played past two decades. HD combos are so hype.

No. Not for me. I was looking for a casual beat em up on PC, and what I got was some hardcore japanese gaming. While I laughed at the silly music and the silly menus at first, I was then quickly let down. The Tutorial starts with bad explanation and some difficult combos, locking you in the arena looking for LP and LK on your XBox360 controller. The buttons are labelled in some random way in is very helpfully described in the options as "LP=Button1". Try performing 7 direction movements and a double button press without knowing which buttons to press. That is how much fun I had. The first rounds of fighting were me helplessly button mashing against some AI that fires Combo after combo while I was desperately searching the "block" button, that the AI used so well.
All this is from a casual fighting gamers point of view. Some hardcore fighting gamers might have a different opinion, I did not enjoy the game. Not even the ridiculously bouny boobs of one opponent.

This game is unplayable without an actual fighter pad. Having a controller does not help when all it says is button 1,2,3 etc.

I got this game cheap so I tried it, cause I always enjoy playing a challenging beat'em. I have mixed feelings about KoF XIII.

I played this quite a while, mostly online to find worthy challengers. What I found most of the time instead where veterans, who played this game hundreds or even thousands of hours and others who play with dirty tricks, repeat unfair moves over and over or trapping you in the corner an starting an endless combo.

While I think of me to have a settled character, I never felt a rage like this before. First I have to wait an enormous time to find another player, then you are confronted with a lv.40+ pro who eats you for breakfast. The most annoying part is you can't even refuse to fight unless you quit the game. There is no button to return to the main menu, once the game puts you together with another player!

The reason I kept playing is that once in a while you meet a guy who is about the same level as you or slightly above. Your heart is racing, you are glued to the screen. You analyse his movement, learn and beat him in the last second. That is the moment where you get the most out of it. And I am not even mad when I lose in a fair duel like this.

Should I judge the game for its player base? I don't think so, but I am mad at them for a slow servers, bad ui decisions and bad player matching mechanics. At its core it is a solid 2D-fighter with nice graphics, which doesn't let me enjoy it like I want it to.

same thing over and over: skill moves, players and stupid bosses fights which tends to nothing but frustration. I mean, will they ever learn to make a good fight game like Capcom? guess not because it's impossible to beat last boss no matter what. all he does is block and counter attack his forever infinity desperation move. if you want to try this game to have some fun with your friends go for it, otherwise forget it because it's stupid impossible to fight against an enemy who can see your moves while you're doing them. also you need to buy an arcade controller to perform the game skill moves. so it's a definitivelly no.

Even playing this with a game pad the controls are horribly unresponsive. I wish I had an arcade cabinet so I could play this as it was intended to be played. If you have a game pad and you can get it very cheap try it. If you don't have an input device besides your keyboard, save your money and your sanity by moving on to something else.

KoF action on PC is a must buy for fighting game fans. Everyone else will probably not find the game all that interesting or fun.

SNK made a great move with renovating the sprites of the game after a decade. I definitely liked it.

I'm very sad that I overlooked this game, and the series as a whole, up until the end of 2013.

KOF 13 is one of the finest fighting games currently on the market. If you think fighting games aren't for you, based on the slow, plodding gameplay of street fighter 4, or combo mashers like MVC3, then this is where you want to start.

If you like 2-d fighters then this is an excellent choice. Some of the best sprite artwork I've ever seen, and the backrounds are gloriously animated. The combat is fast paced and fairly complex. Online mode is pretty good as well, although I usually get my butt handed to me.

A great fighting game!

First things first, I am not the most seasoned fighting game player. However, I was still able to play at a level where I could use a lot of the systems and have a lot of fun. The depth of play here is immense, and the game is very easy to learn. 10/10

This game is one of the most balance fighting games when you dig into it, but just be forwarned it doest take a bit of effort to understand the game and all of its mechanics. Also to note, the netcode is pretty good, i have two friends with this game and one has a bad connection where its playable but a bit laggy (helps if you turn the backgrounds off) and the other friend has a strong connection, so theres barely any lag at all, so depends on your and your opponenets connection. Overally, not a beginner fighitng game for sure, but if you dig fighting games and have the time to invest, its totally worth it.
