Was die Entwickler zu sagen haben:

Wozu Early Access?

“There is no better way to gain valuable feedback and concrete suggestions than by allowing you guys to actually jump in and have at it so we decided that Steam Early Access is the best way for us to achieve this - just jump in, tear those zombies a new one (or two!) and we'll take care of the rest - or better yet, drop us a line and give us your feedback, we'd really appreciate it!”

Wie lange wird dieses Spiel ungefähr den Early Access-Status haben?

“We've just hit open beta and we hope to be out of Early Access early next year.”

Wie soll sich die Vollversion von der Early Access-Version unterscheiden?

“As we've done so far we will continue to take your feedback and improve on the game, adding new features & modes that we see you guys will enjoy! We'll be re-balancing characters & weapons as we progress too, to make sure its the fairest experience with everyone.”

Was ist der derzeitige Stand der Early Access-Version?

“The game has just moved into Open Beta, bringing with it the first iteration of our brand new PvE mode: Crossroads which sees you and a three team mates set up camp in the morning and carry out four different randomly generated missions over the course of a day on ever changing maps. The missions range from freeing trapped survivors, gathering supplies, to fighting off hordes of zombies, defeating bosses and more.

Crossroads also awards and tracks your performance and scales the difficulty of the next mission accordingly. We've thrown some new zombie types into the mix as well and have added an all new zombie attribute system - from ranged damage resistance to faster running, harder hitting zombies, you will have to adapt how you fight the virus.”

Wird dieses Spiel während und nach Early Access unterschiedlich viel kosten?

“The open beta free to play with no purchase of early access packs now necessary to get access and we will continue this for the full game release later.”

Wie werden Sie versuchen, die Community in den Entwicklungsprozess mit einzubeziehen?

“We'd love to hear your feedback on this first version of Crossroads and as such we've added a link to a survey in the game, but as ever you can provide us with feedback on the Official Dead Island: Epidemic & Steam forums. We're continually working on adding new features & content and we’ll be constantly working on balancing and of course improving gameplay based on your feedback - along the way we’ll be intently listening to your suggestions, criticisms and as always: ideas for EVEN MOAR INSANE WEAPONS!”

Dead Island: Epidemic closing down

Dear players,

Ever since starting with the Closed Alpha, and all the way through the Closed Beta and Open Beta, we’ve received a great amount of useful criticism and encouraging feedback from our players. This has been invaluable for all the teams involved in developing the game.

Over the past weeks and months we’ve been evaluating how to proceed with Dead Island: Epidemic and looking towards the future for the game. We’re sad to announce today that we’ve come to the conclusion to cease further development.

We will be leaving the servers open until the end of October 15th (Pacific Time), during which time we’ll run a very large discount on all characters and boosts to give everyone a chance to spend any remaining currency on characters and items you may have wanted to try before, but never did.

We want to thank everyone for their support, their feedback, and their time playing Dead Island: Epidemic! The game would not have been the same without you.

Time to DI:E

Dead Island: Epidemic is a multiplayer action hack & slash arena. Players duke it out over supply points using an arsenal of crafted weaponry, a bevy of devastating powers, and good old-fashioned teamwork. And yeah, we've got zombies too - so there's that.

Co-Operate or Compete

It's you versus them. Or you versus them versus them versus them.

We’ve got two core modes – either team up with 3 other survivors and take on the zombie menace together in PvE co-op Crossroads mode, or take the fight to other players in our three-team "PvPvPvE" Scavenger mode where you'll battle it out in a competition to grab supplies, hold key points, outsmart the competition and blast through hordes of zombies.

Fight for your survival in our PvE-mode Crossroads. You set up camp in the morning and carry out four different missions over the course of a day in ever-changing maps and mission types. The missions range from freeing trapped characters and gathering supplies, to fighting off hordes of zombies or defeating bosses. Zombies have different attributes and change the way you fight them: From range-damage resistant to faster running, harder hitting zombies - you will have to adapt how you fight the virus.
Crossroads also rewards and tracks your performance, scaling the difficulty of the next mission accordingly.

“The enemy of my enemy is my friend” – at least for a while

Epidemic’s PvP-mode pits three teams of 4 players each against each other in zombie-infested maps. The third team adds a new dynamic to this competitive mode and requires you to re-think your winning strategy: Do you build up enough of a lead to win before you are being dismantled by two teams? Or do you play it smart and align your goals with one of the adversary teams temporarily? The goal is to capture and hold strategic points and gather as many resources as possible to be victorious.

Take direct control of your character with the WASD keys plus mouse input and react to situations on the fly by switching between melee and ranged weapons.

Build and adjust weapons to your playstyle:

  • Earn blueprints from six different categories and build your weapon arsenal
  • Most weapons come with unique features and fit a specific role
  • You also earn weapon modifications which can be installed on to your weapons and add various attributes

From rotund, fanny-pack wearing badass tourists to redheads wielding weaponized crabs – and everything in between. Epidemic has a constantly expanding roster of unlikely heroes supporting varying play styles - whether you like your action up-close and personal, at range or through supporting your teammates.
Each character has an array of (often very bizarre) skills with which to wreak havoc - use these strategically in order to inflict maximum punishment on both the undead and those-you-want-to-be-dead.

why do I do this.... why write a review for a dieing, posssibly dead game, well its to show what peple could had played, and what people did play.

It's funny really, I could spend an hour telling you why this game is so much fun, telling you about its smooth combat and movement, its unique character cast and old favs, its colourful and bright art style and so much more. But despite all this I can not reccomend you the game as it sits.

Heres why, getting a game is not too difficult despite the player base, if you only play on the EU server, the NA server yeah you have to organise games there yourself almost, the developers have gone quiet speaking rarely and little, new updates bringing too little and they too far in between. The last big update was an introduction to a new game mode called Cross Roads, this was back in Novemeber 2014, patches since then have introduced little, or a huge balance or bug fixing patches. Not to say this is bad, for me, but for you it could the worst thing a developer could do.

But regarldess of that I will tell you the highs and lows of what I consider major parts to the game.

Game Modes
techincally there are 3, but one them is just a very quick and easy tutorial solo missions to help teach the game, so there are two main ones. The first fo which is X roads, I've already mentioned this but it's the PvE side of the game. It's remarkable fun I have to say, mostly to the chaotic nature of how many zombies start to swarm you in their variety on the higher difficulty level.

The mode has you accomplish a task, this being kill this and this, break into here, escort these people, or collect these supplies within a time limit or something long these lines, it will make you do this twice, then sends you off to kill a massive zombie or something heavily buffed for a final encounter. Very fun mode, it offers a good amount replayabillity and vairety at the highest levels. Though it does get boring quick, especially if you have seen it all, missions are little and mostly just differenting settings and props. no new missions have been added since it debut back in 2014.

Scavenger is the second main mode, and it's PvP oriented, with PvE on the side. it pits 3 teams of 4 to aquire as many supplies as they can, to fill their truck before anyone else. You do this by mostly caputring and contesting flags, these give a lump sum and give supplies overtime. Zombies also spawn when capturing flags as well around the enviorment and they occasionaly offer a small of supplies but enough to clutch a win every little helps. Now a good and sucessful team can easily snoball this mode and win quickly, but the mode offers the chance for any team to get back in th fight, by raiding the winning teams supply truck. Now this raiding featur can ruin a game, because if a team doesnt like you, they will raid and raid yo, keeping you pinned in your spawn and truck area, letting the third team get away with a free win, all because they dont like you. It gives teams cheap wins because you're busy fighting tooth and nail gaining your last load of supplies to win and they come up and steal while your busy, or all 8 players converge on you to stop you. There is also nothig stopping a team in second from raiding the team in 3rd place which makes thing even more unfair.

there has also been a normal Team v Team mode in works through out the year of 2015, we have very little word on the progress of that.

Characters and Balance
There are more than 20 characters available to choose from, but to be fair 8 of them are jsut reskinned and respecced versions of the starter chaarcters. Now because there is so many to get through I'll do it in a advertisement style for a breif overview of the more poplar choice. "Stuck for choice on who you want in your zombie apocalyspe? Well here's a line up you never forget! Do you want a fat tourist who has yet to see it all, encourage you to go see it with him, as well as have an infinite supply of food too? well then Roy is your man. But what about Amber? her vetineraly and research into the infection has given her own zombie pet and amazing medical skills, could she cure the infection? What about a strong leader? Allie is a trained millatary sniper spec ops soldier with her own high tech rifle and stealth capabillities. And finally, do you like Elsa from Frozen? Well than Hailey is her more agreesive version and is not afraid to use her powers to knock some sense into others".

For me I have two ideals around a community, they can be the best and worst part about any game, and you may lose faith in them quicker than you would the actual game. And for Dead Island it's no differnet. The game is in the style of moba, which means you will encounter the scum of the population. Russians naturall being Russians, people being huge A holes, trolls, greifers, try hards, and more.

But it's not all doom and gloom, from this game I have met some fantastic people, who I have played with for a thousand hours, people who made me play the game when I was bored because I enjoyed their company, when I would of otherwise quit. These are people who I will never forget or remove of my steam because of the memories I have and share with them.

the game is at its most fun when you have three people you are compatiable with, you play and talk well with each other and I encourage everyone to try and find at least one of these people, One of my freinds found the single greatest persons in their live through this game, and happy for the both of them, even if i did disagree with them on points about things.

Parting words
This is my word, and it could mean nothing and everything to you. But I would suggest downloading the game and trying it out yoursel, it's free, doesnt take much space and is fun. I can't remember a game where I've had so much fun and anger, and played for so long, and I contiue to play.

from the next game till the last I am going to play this game, at times it's the only game I want to play despite some of the greatest games being released around it.

Anyway have a good day, hope you enjoy your new game as much as I have.

"User reviews: Very Positive (19,422 reviews)"

I would highly recommend this game to everyone, but sadly it will close at the 15th of october due to no further developement in this game. I had thousands hours of fun and I wrote a lot reviews already which were pretty long. Since this one will get deleted though, it's not gonna happen again.
All I can say is, the last thing I did in this game was getting 11 friends together to make a group picture of 12 people and have a great match afterwards. This game gave me friendships, people to rely on in harsh situations and a lot of cool memories you can only get in games like Dead Island: Epidemic.
It was a great time, an amazing game and a journey I will never forget.
Thanks a lot for sharing this game with us for 2 years.
