It's you versus them. Or you versus them versus them versus them.

We’ve got two core modes – either team up with 3 other survivors and take on the zombie menace together in PvE co-op Crossroads mode, or take the fight to other players in our three-team "PvPvPvE" Scavenger mode where you'll battle it out in a competition to grab supplies, hold key points, outsmart the competition and blast through hordes of zombies.



Fight for your survival in our PvE-mode Crossroads. You set up camp in the morning and carry out four different missions over the course of a day in ever-changing maps and mission types. The missions range from freeing trapped characters and gathering supplies, to fighting off hordes of zombies or defeating bosses. Zombies have different attributes and change the way you fight them: From range-damage resistant to faster running, harder hitting zombies - you will have to adapt how you fight the virus.
Crossroads also rewards and tracks your performance, scaling the difficulty of the next mission accordingly.


“The enemy of my enemy is my friend” – at least for a while

Epidemic’s PvP-mode pits three teams of 4 players each against each other in zombie-infested maps. The third team adds a new dynamic to this competitive mode and requires you to re-think your winning strategy: Do you build up enough of a lead to win before you are being dismantled by two teams? Or do you play it smart and align your goals with one of the adversary teams temporarily? The goal is to capture and hold strategic points and gather as many resources as possible to be victorious.

Combat




Take direct control of your character with the WASD keys plus mouse input and react to situations on the fly by switching between melee and ranged weapons.



Build and adjust weapons to your playstyle:

  • Earn blueprints from six different categories and build your weapon arsenal
  • Most weapons come with unique features and fit a specific role
  • You also earn weapon modifications which can be installed on to your weapons and add various attributes



From rotund, fanny-pack wearing badass tourists to redheads wielding weaponized crabs – and everything in between. Epidemic has a constantly expanding roster of unlikely heroes supporting varying play styles - whether you like your action up-close and personal, at range or through supporting your teammates.
Each character has an array of (often very bizarre) skills with which to wreak havoc - use these strategically in order to inflict maximum punishment on both the undead and those-you-want-to-be-dead.

Ich spiele es jetzt seit der Closed Beta und muss sagen Hammer.
Es ist ein 4-Mann/Frau Hack´n Slay oder eine art Dota PVP.
Es gibt die üblichen Klassen: Tank, Supporter, Healer etc.

Zum PvP:
Das wohl interessanteste daran ist das es Player vs Player vs Environment ist.
Man kämpft sowohl gegen die Zombies(Bot´s) Als auch die Spieler Selbst
Das ziel ist recht einfach finde und töte die Zombies/Spieler und Sammle Versorgungskisten und
bringe diesen zu deinem Truck(Basis).
Man kann diese Kisten Sammeln in dem man Punkte erobert, ein Elite-Gegner tötet oder
sie gar vom Gegner-Team klaut.
Gewonnen hat der der A. Im TEAM SPIELT und
B. Als erstes alle Kisten in seinem Truck hat.

Zu PvE:
Man muss zu 4 drei Missionen erledigen. Jede Mission kann mit
Gold, Silber, Bronze oder gar nichts abgeschlossen werden.
Je nach dem wie man abgeschlossen hat bekommt man Versorgungskisten.
Am Ende wird gewertet man kann diesen "Run" mit 1-3 Sternen abschließen.
Anhand dessen wird der Loot und Ep ausgemacht.
Es gibt 5 Schwierigkeitsstufen Normal(Waffen-Tier 1-3) Infectious(W-T 4-8)
Contagious(W-T 9-14) Deadly(W-T 15-16) Endemic(W-T 16)

Hallo Community,
ich finde dieses Spiel gut,weil es viele Anpassungsmöglichkeiten und Ähnlickkeit mit LOL/Dota 2 hat. Es ist leicht zu verstehen und auch wenn es sehr leicht aussieht wie z.b. Killing Floor ist es auch schwer. Es gibt tägliche Bonuse für ein fertiggemachtes Spiel bei PVE und eine bei PVP wo du aber gewinnen musst. Die täglichen Bonuse geben dir ein Item das du verkaufen kannst oder benutzen kannst. Die Errungsschaften sind schwieriger als in den meisten Spielen,weil du um alle Errungsschaften zu bekommen musst du z.b. 250 Waffen craften und 1.000.000 Zombies töten. 1 Mil Zombies hören sich nicht viel an aber ist es. Kurze Sache: Pro Spiel bekommst du ungefähr 125 Zombies.

Dead Island: Epidemic ist ein Hack´n Slay ähnlich wie Alien Swarm,
Im Multiplayer ist das Team 4 Kopf stark, es gibt verschiedene Klassen wie zB Heiler, Supporter, Dsp etc!
Ist einfach aufgebaut aber ein guter Zeitvertreib besonders im Multiplayer.

Also ich spiele das game seid anfang der beta und ich muss sagen das game hat sich sehr positiv entwickelt.Die grafik ist absolut top dann gibts echt viele chars die man zocken kann wo jeder verschiedene skills hat.das level ist der hammer 525 also hat man genug vor sich um das zu erreichen.
Ich bin so dermassen gespannt wenn das game offiziell die open beta beendet und es richtig losgeht und ich denke da kommt dann noch mehr dazu.Ich kann das game nur empfehlen.

So, i'll review it in english... I'm german, please excuse my grammar...

First to Start: at the beginning you get to play a tutorial, after that, you are level 5 and have all the skills you need, also you can choose 1 of 4 Starter chars, so it's heavy style relient whom you pick (like the beginning of warframe)

after getting started you will find yourself leveling and looting, after this 17h I already played i'm level 15 with my account (no u don't level characters, all your chars are the level of your account) and I own 2 chars (berg, one of the starters and armored isys, because turret and ♥♥♥♥) could have picked all the starters left instead of armored isys, but i like to have some cheap ones left...

soooo, the game: i played only the pve mode till now, to get some weapons and credits and stuff at all... and it'S huge, if you are good u can go in with 3/4 people (so one afk-♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ don't ruin your game), the modifications for weapons and the different weapons allow many styles to play, bruising as melee or life leaching sharp shooter, whatever you want to do, it's possible to build (even when it takes some time to collect the mods and weapons) and after (almost) any game u get blueprints for new weapons and the mods come automatically with the level your acount hits...

it's really fun, and i like that there is no lose in pve mode (but if u fail all the missions it feels like lose, u get less exp, and credits and no blueprints), furthermore, there are 5 difficulties (zombies get more life and special abilities with higher difficulties, also the maps get bigger) so it stays challanging IF U WANT

there are just a few cons about htis game, like the high costs for characters... but they are very good designed and developed, so they are worth the prize i guess... next thing: no controller support, which would be great!
but it's still beta, so come on guys, join in :D

Pros

+Not a Pay to win game, all characters, weapons and other items are obtainable by hard work playing the game itself
+PVE mode offers a bit of a open world experience
+PVE mode offers challenge from deadly difficulty onwards
+Characters equipment can be customized depending on the users choice
+Has a lot of character in roster to choose from with unique skills and passive abilities
+Not so toxic community so far
+Daily reward for PVE if you finished a game and PVP if your team wins

Cons

-Some characters are expensive when purchased using in game money
-Duplicate drops of weapons and mods could be annoying to some people
-May experience random lag sometimes and Red Ping on Asian countries
-PVE could get boring as you play it repeatedly
-Long waiting time for both PVE and PVP sometimes
-Deadly and Endemic mode difficulty in PVE is sometimes impossible to get all gold because of overpowered creeps
-If someone got disconnected in PVE it means your team could either get silver to nothing and there is no compensation (like weakening the creeps) for loosing a player while in game
-PVP is currently messed up there is no ranking system of somekind to sort things out since the population of this game is considered small so far
-Sometimes there are fixed teams (group/party) in PVP that farms players with teamates who they randomly meet because of the system of the game and the odds of winning against them are quite low especially if your team mates are lowbies even the game mechanic is 4v4v4
-Reports of cheaters in game but they are not widespread at this moment

Techland picks up the brand zombesco Dead Island, transforming one of the most interesting survival horror of this generation in a MOBA, or rather in a Zomba. Player vs Player vs Player vs Environment is the strange formula adopted by the team, which seems to be able to take unexpected and interesting folds. In terms of gameplay this is therefore a title completely different.

Dead Island: Epidemic is a zombie survival game developed by Stunlockstudios, the game is played in over-the-head 3rd person view, you have a choice between 20+ playable characters (only about 5 can be played from the start, the others you need to buy or unlock).

-Detailed breakdown review-
Story: You play as one of the infected on Amaia Island, apparently "the virus is making [you] stronger, smarter". And that's about where the story telling ends; you're running errands for someone named John Sinamoi (who was apparently in the first Dead Island game) and you're all working together to survive the zombie hordes.

Game Play: At this time there are a couple game modes I'll just call "pvp" and "pve". in PvE you're fighting against zombies with three other people and doing various tasks for John Sinamoi; sometimes you're collecting supplies, other times you're hunting down a boss zombie. In PvP you're against other players, generally in a 3 way tug-of-war free-for-all.
You do start the game with a single player tutorial to help you get the general idea for the game, upon finishing that tutorial you get taken to your "Crib". Which will be your most familiar screen, because in the Crib you craft weapons with loot you've picked up, you can purchase new characters, select characters, and generally access your inventory.

Achievements: I haven't been feeling competitive enough to start working on these achievements(05/09/15), I would say there are really two categories for the achievements: the grindy ones, and the lucky ones.
Many achievements unlock at different tiers, for example "Kill 100 zombies" and "Kill 1,000 zombies", and it keeps going up in higher intervals. That achievement is for: Scavenger games, PvE Missions, Blueprints, Crafting weapons, Zombie kills, and player kills.
For the "lucky achievements", you need to win games, or accomplish specific goals that you will either get lucky with or RNG or playing with other friends who are trying for like-minded goals. Examples would be: "Kill 10 Zombies with one attack/skill", "Win a Scavenger mission with at least 200 supplies ahead of the other teams", "Win a Scavenger mission without dying" and many more. To make matters tougher, scavenger missions are the PvP ones, ergo; if you're playing with pug groups. You might be with brilliant players, or noobs.

Price: Dead Island: Epidemic is a free to play, however many of the features in the game will require extensive grinding, or using real life money to unlock. This is a turn-off for most gamers.
A number of people have argued with me over the semantics of "Free to play" and "Pay to win", honestly I don't see the point; because when I think "pay to win" I think facebook app games. You have access to all game modes on Dead Island: Epidemic, yes to unlock the best stuff you can just pay money to skip to the top, but the features seem conceivably obtainable, and in PvE mode you don't need to subject yourself to brutal noob-acide that you would probably experience early in the game, on PvP game modes ...before you have better weapons.

Conclusion: I've always felt that I can't tell people "no, don't try this game!" When it's free. If you're looking for more games to play on steam, here ya go. However beware that you can purchase features in the game with real life money. So Naturally the rich-kids have a very strong advantage over the rest of us.
I hesitantly recommend this game for people who enjoy Dungeon Crawlers, Zombie games/ Left4Dead, 3rd person overhead game play, or people who want to play a free game (financial restrictions).

A game with no lasting appeal.
While its fun for a hour or two, you quickly realize there isnt any depth or complexity to it, the oversimplification of the game concept its based on leads to an uninspired and highly repetitive experience.

+pretty
+runs great, great optimization

-lol not dota, a simplified version of a simplifies game just dosnt work
-diablo inspiration ends at fighting zombies and the way combat works, no loot or gold drops make the game even more simple
-no item or resource management during a match
-no communication in the team, games are too short and too chaotic for it
-combat lacks depth
-no item drops during PvE mode, would be a great way to make things more interesting
-too repetitive
-tiny maps for PvE, too big ones for PvP
-grind fest

This game is for all you zombie fans it might be 3rd person but trust me, this game is very fun.

- it has cool combos.
- The Weapons are almostt same to dead island 1 but they are still cool
- there is ALOT OF GORE!
- nice textures and quuility
- if you have a pretty crap computer you shoulb be able to handle this game
- performance is amazing!

DIE is a fun mix between Alien Swarm & modern MOBAs.

f2p beta, but seems to be a TRUE beta (not like the current fashion of barely Alpha material being labeled this and that), in that most of the core is already there and working quite well.

the UI is great. styling is cartoonish, humorous and easy on the eyes. artwork is fantastic (taking some pages off the book of league of legends). i feel as tho there's way too much orange everywhere and there needs to be a lot more diversity in colors.

there is quite a grind involved, and the "sexiest" champs you can own are quite expensive. starter champs pack quite a punch doe. still, could be problematic once you hit PVP, and there's no way of testing new champs before unlocking.

copying existing champs in Armored or Mutated forms isn't a good look for the game's devs. reeks of laziness. i don't know the development history - it might've been just a move to rush the game on beta/steam with microtransactions, and creating completely new champs would've taken too long at the time...

PVE consists of very short (10 mins~) sessions that may seem repititive, but turn out to be rather addictive, filled with lots of randomness & casual fun (i've heard the fun turns into tryhard mode when you hit deadly difficulty, can't wait).

This game is some kind of relax for me. Playing it with everyone and trying to help new ones. It's pretty good you find some levels like you. But the negatives are lags. Without lags it's fine. 9/10

Greetings my loyal readers and strangers of the internet. Who like reading page long reviews about games formed on the opinion of a single, self-righteous person? Don’t pretend, if you didn’t, you wouldn’t be reading this. LET’S JUMP IN!
The open beta for “Dead Island Epidemic” was something that caught my eye instantly. A famous franchise FPS zombie survival franchise making an RTS and then publishing an open beta? “Shut up and take my money!” I uttered, just prior to remembering that the game is free. I installed it quickly as soon as I found it and quickly made my way through the tutorial and began the gameplay. Does it live up to expectations? Let’s find out.
Dead Island Epidemic currently has 24 characters, all of which have very different skills and play differently. Or so I hear. Unfortunately, you can only unlock 1-4 of the starting character for free. All of the other 23 characters cost “character points” which are earned through both game modes. This being said, of my 11 hours (and counting), I’ve only unlocked 3 characters. This makes the game addictive but it is irritating that you’re not given the opportunity to test out other characters. I believe that perhaps it is a bit excessive for it to take hours to unlock even starting characters. Counting the “character points” I’ve earned, it would take me 9 hours to unlock all four of the starting characters. Which are the cheapest of all of them by far! I honestly think the system would be fairer if the player earned more points and the prices were increased for the more expensive. And furthermore, if it takes me 11 hours to unlock a mildly expensive character, let me trial them. Seriously, if there’s one thing missing from this game, it’s the ability to test character before you buy them. As a general rule, gamers don’t like wasting hours of their life (Or at least, not realising that they wasted hours of their life.) All of this being said, the character variation is fantastic. There’s something for everybody. Plenty of different variation of healers, initiators, carries, disablers, hunts, defenders and nukers that play differently and offer different experiences. Or so I hear.
The way the gameplay is structure in DIE (Holy crap, I just realised that’s an awesome acronym! Bonus points!!!) is based around a system of trials and reward. For both game modes, “Scavenger” (PVP) and “Crossroads” (PVE) after finding a match (During which, matchmaking varied from seconds to several minutes) you started playing. In “Crossroads”, the newer of the two game modes you and three teammates embark on three randomly generated quests which include missions where you protect your teammates, break down barricades, fight bosses, capture points, rescue survivors and even escort missions (Shudder). Personally, I believe that more missions would make crossroads a more in depth experiences. The better you do in the missions, the more rewards granted at the end of the match. Crossroads also contains varying difficulty levels which accommodates to both new and experienced players which results in even matchmaking so you rarely feel as though you’re a burden or the best player in the game. Personally, I think this is a great system, and it’s been done very well, limiting players to certain difficulties until the gather higher level equipment. Unfortunately, despite everything that the developers got right in Crossroads, they threw it all out the window in scavenger.
Just before we move on, I’d like to suggest that you allow people to compete in crossroads with varying number of players. Four is good, but I’d like to have larger and smaller parties. Just gonna throw that out there.
Whilst I thoroughly enjoyed crossroads, anybody who knows me can tell you I get bored quickly. It didn’t take long for me to get curious about the other game mode. That was a big mistake. Unlike crossroads, there is no different difficulty levels. No fair matchmaking. Literally nothing to prohibit a group of high level players with ridiculously overpowered weapons from being matched against a team of level 3 supports. And you know what? Yeah you do. You know what. You’re picking up what I’m throwing down. For you were blind, but now you see. The cat’s outta the bag now. You know what’s up, what’s going down. Everything’s clear to you now. There’s no need for me to say it. There’s legitimately no need for me to waste your time by telling you what happened when I team of level 3 supports joined a game with no appropriate matchmaking system. I’m not going to bother. Nope. I refuse. I’ll let you come to your own conclusions about what happened to me and the degree in which my team was destroyed. Go on, guess. Take a whack at it. A quick stab in the dark. Go on, I’ll wait. I’ve got all day. Really! I review games for fun, you think I have something better to do. Just guess. You guessed yet? Good. If you guessed utterly, you are correct, and win my undying respect. Well done. Anyway, in scavenger, three teams of four compete for the four control points around the map. When captured, these nodes drop supplies. The team that has the most supplies at the end of the game, wins. Boss zombies occasionally spawn and they, too drop supplies. In addition, supplies can be stolen from the opposition before they get back to their base. Sounds pretty basic but that game was a lot of fun. Of course it would’ve been much more fun if the matchmaking had been F*CKING BALANCED! I may be taking this too far, but it seriously felt like I was charging a man with a rocket launcher equipped with a slingshot. The map was well designed and the game mode requires great teammates and good co-ordination and was a great experience, even though I couldn’t take 18 steps without being brutally murdered. As soon as Deepsilver and Stunlock get their sh*t together, It’s obvious this is going to be an excellent experience.
Whilst I enjoyed both of the game modes, I would like to see some other game modes to grant more variation. I would like to suggest
1. A survival mode, where teams fight waves of zombies to survive. The longer they live, the better the rewards.
2. A survival versus mode, where players on different maps try and survive. Clearing waves first gives the opportunity to screw with opposition.
3. Slaughter mode, in which players compete with other players to see who can get the most kills
Before I rap this stuff up, I’d like to make some suggestions. You know, because I’m a self-righteous ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ who thinks he’s always right. I’d love to see some more depth in the character building aspect of the game. I’d love a passive skill tree. How cool would that be?! If you’ve read my review of Path of Exile, you’d know I do some crazy ♥♥♥♥ for a passive skill tree (Seriously, you can’t even fit that ♥♥♥♥ing thing on screen no matter how far you zoom out! It’s F*CKEN AMAZING!) I believe that adding a passive skill tree would give players more rewards for levelling up. Currently, as you’re profile progresses, the abilities your character uses get cool passive abilities but it’s not enough. It’s never enough. SATISFY ME, DAMN IT! I’m also not a huge fan of the current weapon system. Finding blueprints after completing a mission is satisfying and I the crafting system, but I believe that you should be able to find blueprints of varying levels, not just the one directly above yours. If you have a level 6 weapon equipped, you MUST craft a level 7 item before you can find level 8 blueprints.
