TL;DR: Interesting concept but horribly realized. PvE is repetitive and grindy while PvP is repetitive, grindy and extremely unbalanced because of tiny and awful playerbase. Made me miss the flamers in traditional mobas. Yes, seriously.
The PvE game mode is repetitive and too easy until you've spent at least dozens of hours of grinding. About 50 hours into the game and I'm not close to reaching late-game despite being closer than other people I've seen who've played longer. Progression (getting better weapons) is really fast early-game and really slow later into it. Unlocking characters is also extremely tedious. 50 hours into it I have 5 characters - of which 4 are starters (one was free, the rest are cheap). If it was possible to get refunds for characters, I could refund all 5 and still not afford one of the most expensive characters. There are no free rotations or ways to get points faster other than paying.
The PvP game mode has several major flaws:
- Low playerbase means no ranks, tiers or progression other than account level (which doesn't affect you other than which level gear you can use)
- People with top tier gear can get into teams with people who have starter gear and don't use chat
- Almost no one seem to take moba strategy seriously - people wasting an entire minute to chase someone instead of gathering points to win the game is common. Time efficiency is often neglected while character synergy is always neglected
- Having three teams in a moba where you win by collecting supplies (essentially points) through supply points, zombie events and player killing makes for a horrible balance. I've often seen two teams get stuck in team fights that lasted several minutes (sometimes 5-10), letting the third team snowball and win easily. Sometimes two teams gang up on one, although that often ends in failure since getting kills is more important than objectives to this playerbase.
I've been keeping an eye on development since I started playing in closed beta, and I'm going to continue doing so. But given the current playerbase and boring game modes, I sincerely believe anyone would have more fun spending their time other places. If it's the simplicity of the game and focus on objectives that intrigued you, I'd rather recommend Heroes of the Storm or a non-moba action RPG like Path of Exile.
