DOI Community Map Showcase

Bridge at Remagen by ThirdEye

Starting May 6th, New World Interactive will host 5 custom servers for Day of Infamy community-made maps to help determine which maps will be included in the next official update for the mod. The community will help decide the winners by voting for their favorites in a survey.

To launch the event, NWI creative director Andrew Spearin will host a livestream and invite all the level designers to join in playing through each map to gain feedback from both the community and fellow designers.

There are many excellent DOI maps in progress that we are excited to playtest. For a DOI map to be included, it must be published on Workshop by May 6th. Hopefully the maps that are not uploaded to Workshop yet are able to have them ready to playtest in time for the event. Iteration and updates throughout the playtesting phase are encouraged. The timeline for testing and the deadline for selecting the top map are to be determined.

For a preview of maps being made for the Day of Infamy mod, check the official forum.

Army of Five Coop Mod - FINAL LIVESTREAM UNTIL AMSTERDAM

We are livestreaming today, Saturday April 16th, at 3:00 pm EST with modder Rushin’ Russian and his new coop mod Army of Five. You can tune in here.

This is our FINAL LIVESTREAM from our US East location. After a break, our official livestreams will resume broadcasting from New World Interactive’s Amsterdam studio. These upcoming streams will show off more official Insurgency: Sandstorm related content, and will show community content alternating or at a separate timeslot. So come out tonight and celebrate well over a year of our weekly community broadcasts!

Created by programmer Rushin' Russian and artist St_Anger1, the Army of Five mod turns Insurgency into a class based five player cooperative experience. Fight against challenging new bots and play as one of the following classes with special weapons and abilities:

Breacher - Autoshotgun!
Rifleman - Two assault rifles and temporary God mode
Scavenger - Exoskeleton and a big knife
Marksman - One shot kill battle rifle
Grenadier - Grenade launcher and snub nosed revolver

But text doesn’t do them justice. See them kick ass in this ROCKIN’ gameplay trailer!

https://youtu.be/QiUl09zIx_Q
To play Army of Five follow these simple steps:
1. Make sure that Insurgency is closed.
2. Subscribe to the mod here on the Steam Workshop.
3. Start Insurgency and you will see "Army of Five" under "Cooperative" menu!

If you are interested in hosting a server yourself, there are easy to follow instructions in the description of the Workshop page.

As always, we’ll be happy to answer any questions in the stream about Insurgency.

Multiplayer Game Modes:

Push --- Three territorial objectives must be captured by the attacking team in sequential order. For each objective captured, they gain more reinforcement and time to attack the next. Defenders have a finite amount of reinforcements and must use each wisely. Once the third objective is captured by the attackers, a fourth cache objective must be destroyed, while the defenders have only one life to make a last stand.

Firefight --- Three territorial objectives, one for each team, plus one neutral. Each team only respawns when they secure an objective. Secure all objectives or eliminate all enemy to win. Every life counts, making this a very suspenseful experience dependent upon teamwork.

Skirmish --- In addition to three territorial objectives, each team has a supply cache to protect. Teams gain extra reinforcement waves until their cache is destroyed. When both teams have lost their caches and all reinforcement waves, it becomes a Firefight match.

Occupy --- There is one central territorial objective in the area. The team that controls it does not deplete reinforcement waves. This gameplay in this mode is reminiscent to King of the Hill or "tug of war".

Ambush --- A high value target ("HVT") must be escorted to an extraction point. It's one team's goal to make this happen and it's the other team's goal to stop this from happening at all costs. The HVT is only armed with a silenced pistol, but can pick up a weapon from a fallen enemy or teammate.

Strike --- Three weapon caches must be destroyed by the attacking team to achieve victory. Destroying a cache earns the attackers more reinforcements and time on the clock. The defenders must retain at least one cache from being destroyed and eliminate the enemy team once their reinforcements run dry.

Infiltrate --- The standard Capture the Flag mode, but with a twist. Your team's goal is to take the enemy's intel and return it to your base. Your team will only gain reinforcements when someone takes the enemy's intel, or when an enemy stealing your team's intel is neutralized. This mode requires very strong team coordination and strategy.

Flashpoint --- One neutral territorial objective and two caches on each side. The goal is to secure the entire area, controlling the middle and destroying the enemy's caches. Your team respawns when they secure the territorial objective or destroy a cache objective.

Elimination --- In this single life mode, attackers must destroy one of two weapon caches, or eliminate the enemy team within the time limit. Defenders must kill all attackers.

Cooperative Game Modes

Checkpoint --- Complete mission-based objectives in sequence against AI enemy. Each successful objective will respawn anyone who was eliminated along the way.

Hunt --- Insurgents are dispersed in the environment, and your squad must eliminate all targets while locating and destroying the weapons cache. High on tension, with only one-life.

Survival --- Play as Insurgents and fight against endless waves of progressively difficult Security enemies on night themed maps. Reaching safehouse objectives with your team earns you supply to purchase better weapons and spawns any dead teammates.

Outpost --- Defend your supply cache against endless waves of enemy trying to destroy it. Each successfully defended wave will bring in reinforcements of your teammates.

Conquer --- Capture the objectives in the area and defend them from enemy trying to retake them. Destroy enemy weapon caches to thin out their numbers.

This game is one of the best tactical shooters currently on the market and it's not even expensive.

The game has everything a modern shooter needs to have and if you don't like the modern setting download the WW2 mod Day of Infamy and enjoy.

Only downside to all of this is the fact the game is built on source engine and thus hitreg sucks on some servers.

Having spent many hours in this game and having completed many matches, I feel ready to express my opinion on Insurgency.

Insurgency is a realistic FPS which combines the best elements from popular games in it's category, like CS and Arma. In fact, the game has just the right amount of realism required to make it addicting, realistic, and fun to play at the same time. This is definitelly not CS or CoD. You cannot run around, jump and shoot at the same time. One bullet is usually enough to kill you. Bullets also ricochet, which means that even if they do not hit you directly they can still reach you if they hit a nearby wall. Explosions from grenades, RPGs and explosives have a devastating effect, and they will be your cause of death many times during your experience with Insurgency.

You will have difficulties aiming and shooting many times. You eyesight will be blinded by debris from explosions, bullets and smoke. Even your gun barrel emmits smoke if you shoot continously and not in short bursts. Even if you have the right optics, picking targets from a distance is challenging. Fatigue will constantly be a problem, and will give you extra trouble when aiming, so sprinting should only be used when necessary.

Your constant worry will be finding cover. Basically, once you have spent some time in the game, you will always feel that nub in your belly every time you cross a street completely exposed in the enemy's fire. The game requires to get accustomed with the many different specialties in your team and the weapons they carry. Each one has unique characteristics, different behaviour at your hands and has a different purpose. Learn how smoke and flash grenades are used, as they are valuable assets in your hands.

If there is a word describing Insurgency, it's TEAMWORK. If you want to work your way through the objectives and survive to see the end of the day, you need to cooperate with your teammates. The game requires you to find a good, slow pace and work your way through the maps, eliminating the possible threats that are everywhere around you. Communicating with your teammates is essential (for example when calling a flash grenade), so I suggest a good headset. As an alternative, you can always use the in game phrases to indicate movement, enemy activity etc. Make sure to stick together when entering buildings but also keep your distance when in open streets. Notice that facing more than 2 or 3 opponents at the same time will most likely result in your death, so make sure you stick with your teamates all the time.

The game modes available are satisfying and cover many tastes, from co-op to multiplayer. There is still much space for improvement in the game, regarding both it's gameplay as well as more maps/challenges. The community is very good and you will not find many annoying ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥s like in CS or CoD. There are lot's of people playing the game right now, so you can find a match to enter any time you want.

Generally, if you like realism in a game, buy Insurgency. You will die a lot of times, you will have a hard time reaching a good level, but ultimately, it will give you great satisfaction. Insurgency is the epitome of teamwork. Grab your buddies and enter it's world.

-playing skirmish as Insurgents
-teams are pretty balanced
-some kid joins the game, nobody really cares
-immediately Insurgents start winning horribly, no one knows why
-round ends, Insurgents win 3-0, MVP is the kid who joined
-no objective points, 23:0 K/D
-oh
-entire server goes insane
-kid thinks he's pretty cool now

-a few more matches pass, Insurgents are still destroying
-kid is sitting off to the side killing literally everyone with an M14, being obnoxious af in voice chat
-everyone is getting bored now because of him
-people start spectating him to see what he's doing
-kid is headshotting everybody and aiming almost perfectly
-suspicion
-someone checks his profile
-2 VAC bans
-we figure out he's using an aimbot (wow, surprising)
-vote kick started
-gets flooded with yes votes
-kid starts screaming in the most hilarious way possible
-Insurgents willingly get him banned him from the server
-everyone rejoices and keeps playing

11/10 community better than CS:GO

(Oh yeah, this game is probably the best tactical shooter out there, go buy it)

Insurgency is by far the most realistic FPS I have ever played, while still being fun to play. It only take a max of a couple shots to kill someone, so much different from your typical Call of Duty style FPS where it may take many pistol rounds. There is already a pretty wide selection of equipment, but the develops add more guns as time goes on. The ability to use the workshop and mod your weapons just increases your options in gun selection, allowing even more realistic textures, blood, sounds, and detailed or alternate firearms. The total conversion mods that have been released such as "Day of Infamy", a really good World War II mod for Insurgency, and the upcoming "Born to Kill" Vietnam War mod, this game is the gift that keeps on giving.

So I was enlisted in the army, yeah? First day at bootcamp, this instructor (who am I kidding, he wasn't teaching us recruits jack sh!t) told me to run and crawl through a warehouse. Assuming I never shot a gun before, he intructed me to shoot non-moving targets with a pistol. Let's be real, it wasn't any trouble at all, especially since I've had a prior background with guns. I moved through the rest of the training like it was butter. I was here to show this jack@ss wthat I wasn't here to mess around. At the end, something unexpected happened. Insurgents started attacking our base. My unit quickly took positions to take out the enemy. Nothing would ever prepare you to get into a firefight on the first day of boot camp. After what seemed like hours, we finally pushed them back. Taking count of the casualties, we pushed out of the base to push back the rest of the lingering Insurgents. Months later, my unit and I were assigned to an Insurgent filled area in the desert. We had to take control of the immediate area and eliminate as many hostiles as possible. It was rough, sand flying in your face, the hot sun beating down on you while you're loading with 50 lbs of equipment. You hear war stories from vets back at base about men, friends, they've lost. Those don't prepare you for when it actually happens in battle. My bud was laying prone next to me, trying to pick off hostiles with his M4A1. Watching the left flank, I didn't notice the goat-♥♥♥♥er coming up to us on our right. Next thing I knew, I heard a gunshot, immediately followed by a yell. I looked over and saw blood gushing out of my buddy's neck. No matter how many pills I drink or how much booze I ingest, nothing will ever let me forget the look on his face as he died. Or the stream of blood painting the sand red. To avenge my fallen comrade, I unleashed hell upon the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ that killed him. Even after my mag was empty, I continued to pull the trigger, the clinking of the empty chamber the only thing I was hearing. The Insurgents unleashed something inside of me, something I didn't even know I possesed. I scavenged a grenade from a casualty and pulled the pin. I threw the little green ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ into a building, hearing the explosion and screams following it. My squad and the Security squad accompanying us eliminated any remaning tangos and took the area. We called in a medivac for the injured and waiting until we were extracted. Most sat on a nearby building's stairs, staring off into the distance or messing with their equipment. The relief we all felt when we saw the evac coming was undescribable.

TL;DR 10/10 would complete the training course and play Buhriz Push again.

Hi Gamers

I play this simply for the co-op, and its is great fun. Scratches the itch for a solid tactical shooter, but remains barebones enough and is good for a casual bash with friends or others online. Well worth the purchase just if you are interested in the co-op, as more content has been released and it has a good amount of mods also.

Game on!

if you like games that are realistic and hard this game is for you. Although it has some bugs the developers are trying to fix them . You will find servers easy but on some modes not so easy unfortunately at least full servers. you will need a lot of time to get used to it but once you figure it out you will love it. i bought it 2 years ago but didnt like it because you have 1 life on some modes. but now since they add more modes i really love it . if you want you can wait for sandstorm since it will have singleplayer but it will be released in 1 year.

Fun multiplayer shooter. Sort of a mix between Battlefield series and Call of Duty series. Looks similar to COD's Hardcore mode - minimal UI (no ammo counter, no health, no map ect), friendly fire is always on, hard to tell friend or foe at a glance. But has lots of players, like Battlefield. There are no killstreaks, only you, your enemy and your objective. And you can only see kill/death ratio when you're dead. Respawn also happens in waves, like BF, but maps are smaller, closer to COD style.

There's almost no single player mode. There's "tutorial" mode, where the game explains how to play, and there's "solo" mode, which is rather hard (your ally bots are rather stupid).

There's a "co-op" mode, where a team of real players plays against bots to reach certain objectives, and bots vary in difficulty - from tough to insane.

And there's good old multiplayer. Kind of fun, but personally I prefer CS:GO multiplayer. Its much more action-packed and looks better. More vibrant. But thats just a personal preference, Insurgency's multiplayer is more dark, but it grows on you. Its not a masterpiece, but not a complete disaster, either.

Overall, Insurgency is a good game to try if you like multiplayer shooters, geared towards realism.

This game is just....wow. Everything is amazingly accurately depicted, from the grenade weight, the audio, the physics, the bullet penetration going through different materials, the suppressing fire system, everything about this game is intense and punishing if you ♥♥♥♥ up for a second while in a firefight.

It's times like this in a match where you're scoped in, looking to pick off any enemies, especially opposing snipers or grenadiers. You see an enemy sniper far away, and he sees you too. It's all a matter of who pulls the trigger faster, and you hear an empty dull click from your gun. No more bullets loaded in the chamber? You soon find yourself dead.

That's right, there's no ammo counter or anything that indicates how many shots you have left, nor a crosshair or a life bar. The only thing you have on your HUD is how many magazines you have left and a compass w/ a map you can toggle. This game requires good teamwork and communication to win matches, and it's rewarding to blow up the final enemy cache with a brick of C4 when you're the last man standing.

Bottom line: if you want a tactical shooter that delivers intense close quarters combat action, with a variety of huge maps as well, get this game, you will not be disappointed. My only gripe is that I wished the developers spent more time optimizing the game, because it only utilizes less than half of my cpu and gpu combined, which can lead to minor fps drops at times.

Oh, and get ready for all the "allahu ackbars" on the mics.

Honestly the single greatest Tactical Shooter I've ever played. I've been a lifetime Rainbow Six fan, Ive played countless hours of Squad, and nothing compares to the ability to shine that Insurgency has. Between Modding, Replay-ability, perfectly balanced gunplay, and many other things, I have to reccomend this game. I wish I could have a problem with this game, but I dont. 9/10 (only because mods make it better)

This is very fun game you can shoot things but I'm a short reviewer so I'll leave you with a recipe for pumpkin pie!
=====================================================================================
Serves: 16
For the filling
500g (1 1/4 lb) pumpkin, cooked and pureed
1 (410g) tin evaporated milk
2 eggs, beaten
175g (6 oz) dark brown soft sugar
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1/2 teaspoon salt

Method
Prep:30min › Cook:1hr10min › Ready in:1hr40min
Preheat oven to 200 C / Gas mark 6.
Halve pumpkin and scoop out seeds and stringy portions. Cut pumpkin into chunks. In a saucepan over medium heat, cover the pumpkin with water and bring to the boil. Reduce heat to low, cover and simmer for 30 minutes or until tender. Drain, cool and remove the peel.
Return pumpkin to the saucepan and mash with a potato masher. Drain well, and measure 500g of the mashed pumpkin; reserve any excess pumpkin for another use.
Prepare pastry by mixing together the flour and salt. Rub butter into flour, and add 1 tablespoon cold water to mixture at a time. Mix and repeat until pastry is moist enough to hold together.
With lightly floured hands, shape pastry into a ball. On a lightly floured board, roll pastry out to barely a .25cm thickness. Transfer to a 20 or 23cm pie dish, gently pressing pastry into the bottom. Cut off any excess pastry hanging over the sides of the dish, and pinch pastry securely around the inner edge.
In a large bowl with mixer speed on medium, beat pumpkin with evaporated milk, eggs, sugar, cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg and salt. Mix well. Pour into a prepared pie dish. Bake 40 minutes or until a knife inserted in the centre comes out clean.
