DOI Community Map Showcase

Bridge at Remagen by ThirdEye

Starting May 6th, New World Interactive will host 5 custom servers for Day of Infamy community-made maps to help determine which maps will be included in the next official update for the mod. The community will help decide the winners by voting for their favorites in a survey.

To launch the event, NWI creative director Andrew Spearin will host a livestream and invite all the level designers to join in playing through each map to gain feedback from both the community and fellow designers.

There are many excellent DOI maps in progress that we are excited to playtest. For a DOI map to be included, it must be published on Workshop by May 6th. Hopefully the maps that are not uploaded to Workshop yet are able to have them ready to playtest in time for the event. Iteration and updates throughout the playtesting phase are encouraged. The timeline for testing and the deadline for selecting the top map are to be determined.

For a preview of maps being made for the Day of Infamy mod, check the official forum.

April 16

We are livestreaming today, Saturday April 16th, at 3:00 pm EST with modder Rushin’ Russian and his new coop mod Army of Five. You can tune in here.

This is our FINAL LIVESTREAM from our US East location. After a break, our official livestreams will resume broadcasting from New World Interactive’s Amsterdam studio. These upcoming streams will show off more official Insurgency: Sandstorm related content, and will show community content alternating or at a separate timeslot. So come out tonight and celebrate well over a year of our weekly community broadcasts!

Created by programmer Rushin' Russian and artist St_Anger1, the Army of Five mod turns Insurgency into a class based five player cooperative experience. Fight against challenging new bots and play as one of the following classes with special weapons and abilities:

Breacher - Autoshotgun!
Rifleman - Two assault rifles and temporary God mode
Scavenger - Exoskeleton and a big knife
Marksman - One shot kill battle rifle
Grenadier - Grenade launcher and snub nosed revolver

But text doesn’t do them justice. See them kick ass in this ROCKIN’ gameplay trailer!

To play Army of Five follow these simple steps:
1. Make sure that Insurgency is closed.
2. Subscribe to the mod here on the Steam Workshop.
3. Start Insurgency and you will see "Army of Five" under "Cooperative" menu!

If you are interested in hosting a server yourself, there are easy to follow instructions in the description of the Workshop page.

As always, we’ll be happy to answer any questions in the stream about Insurgency.

Multiplayer Game Modes:

Push --- Three territorial objectives must be captured by the attacking team in sequential order. For each objective captured, they gain more reinforcement and time to attack the next. Defenders have a finite amount of reinforcements and must use each wisely. Once the third objective is captured by the attackers, a fourth cache objective must be destroyed, while the defenders have only one life to make a last stand.

Firefight --- Three territorial objectives, one for each team, plus one neutral. Each team only respawns when they secure an objective. Secure all objectives or eliminate all enemy to win. Every life counts, making this a very suspenseful experience dependent upon teamwork.

Skirmish --- In addition to three territorial objectives, each team has a supply cache to protect. Teams gain extra reinforcement waves until their cache is destroyed. When both teams have lost their caches and all reinforcement waves, it becomes a Firefight match.

Occupy --- There is one central territorial objective in the area. The team that controls it does not deplete reinforcement waves. This gameplay in this mode is reminiscent to King of the Hill or "tug of war".

Ambush --- A high value target ("HVT") must be escorted to an extraction point. It's one team's goal to make this happen and it's the other team's goal to stop this from happening at all costs. The HVT is only armed with a silenced pistol, but can pick up a weapon from a fallen enemy or teammate.

Strike --- Three weapon caches must be destroyed by the attacking team to achieve victory. Destroying a cache earns the attackers more reinforcements and time on the clock. The defenders must retain at least one cache from being destroyed and eliminate the enemy team once their reinforcements run dry.

Infiltrate --- The standard Capture the Flag mode, but with a twist. Your team's goal is to take the enemy's intel and return it to your base. Your team will only gain reinforcements when someone takes the enemy's intel, or when an enemy stealing your team's intel is neutralized. This mode requires very strong team coordination and strategy.

Flashpoint --- One neutral territorial objective and two caches on each side. The goal is to secure the entire area, controlling the middle and destroying the enemy's caches. Your team respawns when they secure the territorial objective or destroy a cache objective.

Elimination --- In this single life mode, attackers must destroy one of two weapon caches, or eliminate the enemy team within the time limit. Defenders must kill all attackers.

Cooperative Game Modes

Checkpoint --- Complete mission-based objectives in sequence against AI enemy. Each successful objective will respawn anyone who was eliminated along the way.

Hunt --- Insurgents are dispersed in the environment, and your squad must eliminate all targets while locating and destroying the weapons cache. High on tension, with only one-life.

Survival --- Play as Insurgents and fight against endless waves of progressively difficult Security enemies on night themed maps. Reaching safehouse objectives with your team earns you supply to purchase better weapons and spawns any dead teammates.

Outpost --- Defend your supply cache against endless waves of enemy trying to destroy it. Each successfully defended wave will bring in reinforcements of your teammates.

Conquer --- Capture the objectives in the area and defend them from enemy trying to retake them. Destroy enemy weapon caches to thin out their numbers.

Insurgency from its description was supposed to be game centered around tactics, realism and overall fun. Has it achieved these?

In my personal opinion, the answer is a deafening yes. (I hope my hours on the game speaks for itself.) Granted, there will be some who won't appreciate how "realisitc" and punishing the game can be, and so be it, it's just not your kinda game.

Gameplay breakdown
- No HUD or crosshairs provide a very minimalistic view which keeps you focused on the game, rather than the elements of a HUD.
- Gunplay itself is relatively satisfactory, it's not on par with Killing Floor 2 (I'd argue that KF2 isn't necessarily the most realistic, but by far one of the most satisfying gunplay that I've had the pleasure of playing). It does its job well enough, certain sound mods might enhance your experience however.
- The game can be quite punishing to the newcomer, especially with the map layouts being foreign to them. Even if you're not a newcomer, running and gunning is easily punished with a swift death by the enemy team.
- Depending on the weapon, death comes in no less than 1-5 bullets, provided your opponent can hit you. Cover is essential.
- It's quite satisfying being able to coordinate with your team (and especially friends) and secure an objective. Insurgency is one of those games that I feel really rewards tactics and teamwork.
- Customization on the game is ok, nothing spectacular. From my experience most people in PvP will take a non-magnified optic w/ AP ammo.
- Graphics leave much to be desired, but there wasn't much to be expected from something on the Source engine.

Misc. Notes
- Mind you, this game while considered realistic, I'd say is less realistic than something along the lines of Squad or Arma. However Insurgency's gameplay pace is much faster and I'd say more enjoyable than Squad or Arma.
- I've taken to running & gunning while flanking, which often leads to a very positive KDA ratio. The game itself can be pretty rewarding to those who have good reaction times or simply know the workings of the map they're playing on.
- No paid DLC! Absolutely awesome sentiment from the devs themselves, you can pay 15 dollars for the full game and not have to worry about anything.
- Sales for this game are pretty gucci as well.

This game has quickly and easily won my heart as my favorite first person shooter. Whether I am playing with my friends or riding solo I always feel the rush of adrenaline going into a full 16v16 gunfight. If you're a fan of FPS games and or realism then do NOT hesitate to pick this up. I can not state enough how highly I recommend this game.

Got the game yesterday paid 15 dollars its worth maybe 8, every server is ad funded so you have to hear ads the whole time you play sometimes it randomly keeps playing when you leave a game. Maps are okay, guns are nice, teamwork in this game is pretty much you asking someone to block a bullet for you with their face. There arent enough tactical options.

One of the most thrilling games I've ever played. Forget Call of Duty and Counter Strike, Insurgency is one of the most realistic military FPS games ever made.

-It´s realistic
-you don´t need to pay extra for the full content, 15€ and that´s it
-no 12year-olds (it´s too realistic and un-cod-like for them)
-classes are balanced and you don´t need to play to unlock the stuff, everything is available to everyone
-loadout system offers specialization but is not too complex
-the graphics are not the best but they do their job quite well
-play with headphones to hear enemies because there´s no minimap

I didn't play this game so much +8h or something like that.
It feels like you are in a real battle with hardcore features after i played couple off Team Deathmatches i changed to Coop and i really liked it.
Then i saw you could modify the game via the steam workshop.... O boy this is where i got more fun then whatever.

I changed my game from a hardcore, stealthy, looking behind every corner game to a "ISIS" troll game. The stuff they added there is sometimes realistic but mostly it a big laugh !

One big problem, imo, not all players got a microphone (or a good mic) and are good at communication and that is the key to survive here. I only had 1 time there was like this "take the game to a next level roleplay commander" and boy i enjoyed it so much !!

I'm not gone say everyone should buy this game cause i bet it will not be for all players out there. But i'm still having fun with it from time to time. I see this game as a break between my survival games.

So I was enlisted in the army, yeah? First day at bootcamp, this instructor (who am I kidding, he wasn't teaching us recruits jack sh!t) told me to run and crawl through a warehouse. Assuming I never shot a gun before, he intructed me to shoot non-moving targets with a pistol. Let's be real, it wasn't any trouble at all, especially since I've had a prior background with guns. I moved through the rest of the training like it was butter. I was here to show this jack@ss wthat I wasn't here to mess around. At the end, something unexpected happened. Insurgents started attacking our base. My unit quickly took positions to take out the enemy. Nothing would ever prepare you to get into a firefight on the first day of boot camp. After what seemed like hours, we finally pushed them back. Taking count of the casualties, we pushed out of the base to push back the rest of the lingering Insurgents. Months later, my unit and I were assigned to an Insurgent filled area in the desert. We had to take control of the immediate area and eliminate as many hostiles as possible. It was rough, sand flying in your face, the hot sun beating down on you while you're loading with 50 lbs of equipment. You hear war stories from vets back at base about men, friends, they've lost. Those don't prepare you for when it actually happens in battle. My bud was laying prone next to me, trying to pick off hostiles with his M4A1. Watching the left flank, I didn't notice the goat-♥♥♥♥er coming up to us on our right. Next thing I knew, I heard a gunshot, immediately followed by a yell. I looked over and saw blood gushing out of my buddy's neck. No matter how many pills I drink or how much booze I ingest, nothing will ever let me forget the look on his face as he died. Or the stream of blood painting the sand red. To avenge my fallen comrade, I unleashed hell upon the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ that killed him. Even after my mag was empty, I continued to pull the trigger, the clinking of the empty chamber the only thing I was hearing. The Insurgents unleashed something inside of me, something I didn't even know I possesed. I scavenged a grenade from a casualty and pulled the pin. I threw the little green ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ into a building, hearing the explosion and screams following it. My squad and the Security squad accompanying us eliminated any remaning tangos and took the area. We called in a medivac for the injured and waiting until we were extracted. Most sat on a nearby building's stairs, staring off into the distance or messing with their equipment. The relief we all felt when we saw the evac coming was undescribable.

TL;DR 10/10 would complete the training course and play Buhriz Push again.

This is very fun game you can shoot things but I'm a short reviewer so I'll leave you with a recipe for pumpkin pie!
Serves: 16
For the filling
500g (1 1/4 lb) pumpkin, cooked and pureed
1 (410g) tin evaporated milk
2 eggs, beaten
175g (6 oz) dark brown soft sugar
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1/2 teaspoon salt

Prep:30min › Cook:1hr10min › Ready in:1hr40min
Preheat oven to 200 C / Gas mark 6.
Halve pumpkin and scoop out seeds and stringy portions. Cut pumpkin into chunks. In a saucepan over medium heat, cover the pumpkin with water and bring to the boil. Reduce heat to low, cover and simmer for 30 minutes or until tender. Drain, cool and remove the peel.
Return pumpkin to the saucepan and mash with a potato masher. Drain well, and measure 500g of the mashed pumpkin; reserve any excess pumpkin for another use.
Prepare pastry by mixing together the flour and salt. Rub butter into flour, and add 1 tablespoon cold water to mixture at a time. Mix and repeat until pastry is moist enough to hold together.
With lightly floured hands, shape pastry into a ball. On a lightly floured board, roll pastry out to barely a .25cm thickness. Transfer to a 20 or 23cm pie dish, gently pressing pastry into the bottom. Cut off any excess pastry hanging over the sides of the dish, and pinch pastry securely around the inner edge.
In a large bowl with mixer speed on medium, beat pumpkin with evaporated milk, eggs, sugar, cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg and salt. Mix well. Pour into a prepared pie dish. Bake 40 minutes or until a knife inserted in the centre comes out clean.

This game is just....wow. Everything is amazingly accurately depicted, from the grenade weight, the audio, the physics, the bullet penetration going through different materials, the suppressing fire system, everything about this game is intense and punishing if you ♥♥♥♥ up for a second while in a firefight.

It's times like this in a match where you're scoped in, looking to pick off any enemies, especially opposing snipers or grenadiers. You see an enemy sniper far away, and he sees you too. It's all a matter of who pulls the trigger faster, and you hear an empty dull click from your gun. No more bullets loaded in the chamber? You soon find yourself dead.

That's right, there's no ammo counter or anything that indicates how many shots you have left, nor a crosshair or a life bar. The only thing you have on your HUD is how many magazines you have left and a compass w/ a map you can toggle. This game requires good teamwork and communication to win matches, and it's rewarding to blow up the final enemy cache with a brick of C4 when you're the last man standing.

Bottom line: if you want a tactical shooter that delivers intense close quarters combat action, with a variety of huge maps as well, get this game, you will not be disappointed. My only gripe is that I wished the developers spent more time optimizing the game, because it only utilizes less than half of my cpu and gpu combined, which can lead to minor fps drops at times.

Oh, and get ready for all the "allahu ackbars" on the mics.

if you like games that are realistic and hard this game is for you. Although it has some bugs the developers are trying to fix them . You will find servers easy but on some modes not so easy unfortunately at least full servers. you will need a lot of time to get used to it but once you figure it out you will love it. i bought it 2 years ago but didnt like it because you have 1 life on some modes. but now since they add more modes i really love it . if you want you can wait for sandstorm since it will have singleplayer but it will be released in 1 year.

Great standalone version for one of the best Source Mods.

- Astounding sound effects.
- Nice combat, and gun mechanics.
- Very optimized and well polished game with plenty of content.
- Great variety of game modes and maps (including cooperative and versus).

- Nothing that is worth mentioning.

Best played with friends.

This game is one of the best tactical shooters currently on the market and it's not even expensive.

The game has everything a modern shooter needs to have and if you don't like the modern setting download the WW2 mod Day of Infamy and enjoy.

Only downside to all of this is the fact the game is built on source engine and thus hitreg sucks on some servers.

Fun multiplayer shooter. Sort of a mix between Battlefield series and Call of Duty series. Looks similar to COD's Hardcore mode - minimal UI (no ammo counter, no health, no map ect), friendly fire is always on, hard to tell friend or foe at a glance. But has lots of players, like Battlefield. There are no killstreaks, only you, your enemy and your objective. And you can only see kill/death ratio when you're dead. Respawn also happens in waves, like BF, but maps are smaller, closer to COD style.

There's almost no single player mode. There's "tutorial" mode, where the game explains how to play, and there's "solo" mode, which is rather hard (your ally bots are rather stupid).

There's a "co-op" mode, where a team of real players plays against bots to reach certain objectives, and bots vary in difficulty - from tough to insane.

And there's good old multiplayer. Kind of fun, but personally I prefer CS:GO multiplayer. Its much more action-packed and looks better. More vibrant. But thats just a personal preference, Insurgency's multiplayer is more dark, but it grows on you. Its not a masterpiece, but not a complete disaster, either.

Overall, Insurgency is a good game to try if you like multiplayer shooters, geared towards realism.

Honestly the single greatest Tactical Shooter I've ever played. I've been a lifetime Rainbow Six fan, Ive played countless hours of Squad, and nothing compares to the ability to shine that Insurgency has. Between Modding, Replay-ability, perfectly balanced gunplay, and many other things, I have to reccomend this game. I wish I could have a problem with this game, but I dont. 9/10 (only because mods make it better)

If your looking for a review on this game you've come to the wrong place, but if your looking for an outstanding pie recipe you've come to the right place.

1. 6 tablespoons unsalted butter
2. 1/2 cup white sugar
3. 1/2 cup brown sugar
4. 1/4 cup water
5. 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
6. 1 pinch salt
7. 5 apples - peeled, cored and sliced
8. 1 pastry for double-crust pie

1. Preheat oven to 425 degrees F (220 degrees C).
2. Combine butter, white sugar, brown sugar, water, cinnamon, and salt in a saucepan over medium heat. Bring to a boil, remove from heat and set aside.
3. Roll out half the pastry to fit a 9-inch pie plate. Place bottom crust in pie plate; pour in apple slices.
4. Roll out top crust into a 10-inch circle. Cut into 8 (1-inch) wide strips with a sharp paring knife or pastry wheel. Weave the pastry strips, one at a time, into a lattice pattern. Fold the ends of the lattice strips under the edge of the bottom crust and crimp to seal.
5. Pour butter-sugar mixture over top of pie, coating the lattice, and allowing any remaining sauce to drizzle through the crust.
6. Bake in the preheated oven for 15 minutes. Reduce heat to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C), and bake until the crust is golden brown, the caramel on the top crust is set, and the apple filling is bubbling, 35 to 40 more minutes. Allow to cool completely before slicing.

Insurgency: An indie team of gamers turned modders turned developers. Everything about this game was done right. From the attention/engagement with the community to the sales that basically give this game away for free, which in turns invites more gamers, modders, and FREE content for the game from both the community and developers.

I got the game for free from a friend and what attracted me the most was the modding support and the open modding community. This allowed me to jump right into modding my own server out immediately. Under 2 years later, I host the most popular coop servers in the game with a continuously growing 700+ member community.

Bottom Line
If you enjoy immersive PvP and or Coop with tons of different servers, mods, and content. You'll enjoy Insurgency.

No hud, no ammo indicator, no crosshair and no other ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥t. It's just you, your gun and your brains. This game also has really cool game modes that I find very enjoyable. This is one of the best fps games I've played in quite some time. A must buy!
