Multiplayer Game Modes:

Push --- Three territorial objectives must be captured by the attacking team in sequential order. For each objective captured, they gain more reinforcement and time to attack the next. Defenders have a finite amount of reinforcements and must use each wisely. Once the third objective is captured by the attackers, a fourth cache objective must be destroyed, while the defenders have only one life to make a last stand.

Firefight --- Three territorial objectives, one for each team, plus one neutral. Each team only respawns when they secure an objective. Secure all objectives or eliminate all enemy to win. Every life counts, making this a very suspenseful experience dependent upon teamwork.

Skirmish --- In addition to three territorial objectives, each team has a supply cache to protect. Teams gain extra reinforcement waves until their cache is destroyed. When both teams have lost their caches and all reinforcement waves, it becomes a Firefight match.

Occupy --- There is one central territorial objective in the area. The team that controls it does not deplete reinforcement waves. This gameplay in this mode is reminiscent to King of the Hill or "tug of war".

Ambush --- A high value target ("HVT") must be escorted to an extraction point. It's one team's goal to make this happen and it's the other team's goal to stop this from happening at all costs. The HVT is only armed with a silenced pistol, but can pick up a weapon from a fallen enemy or teammate.

Strike --- Three weapon caches must be destroyed by the attacking team to achieve victory. Destroying a cache earns the attackers more reinforcements and time on the clock. The defenders must retain at least one cache from being destroyed and eliminate the enemy team once their reinforcements run dry.

Infiltrate --- The standard Capture the Flag mode, but with a twist. Your team's goal is to take the enemy's intel and return it to your base. Your team will only gain reinforcements when someone takes the enemy's intel, or when an enemy stealing your team's intel is neutralized. This mode requires very strong team coordination and strategy.

Flashpoint --- One neutral territorial objective and two caches on each side. The goal is to secure the entire area, controlling the middle and destroying the enemy's caches. Your team respawns when they secure the territorial objective or destroy a cache objective.

Elimination --- In this single life mode, attackers must destroy one of two weapon caches, or eliminate the enemy team within the time limit. Defenders must kill all attackers.

Cooperative Game Modes

Checkpoint --- Complete mission-based objectives in sequence against AI enemy. Each successful objective will respawn anyone who was eliminated along the way.

Hunt --- Insurgents are dispersed in the environment, and your squad must eliminate all targets while locating and destroying the weapons cache. High on tension, with only one-life.

Survival --- Play as Insurgents and fight against endless waves of progressively difficult Security enemies on night themed maps. Reaching safehouse objectives with your team earns you supply to purchase better weapons and spawns any dead teammates.

Outpost --- Defend your supply cache against endless waves of enemy trying to destroy it. Each successfully defended wave will bring in reinforcements of your teammates.

Conquer --- Capture the objectives in the area and defend them from enemy trying to retake them. Destroy enemy weapon caches to thin out their numbers.

This time, it's going to be a review of the game. Not a damn tutorial.

Insurgency is a first person shooter in which realism and tactics are present. You die in usually one shot - kind of realism. Meaning all your time playing CS:GO (you sad, sad person), memorizing recoil patterns isn't worth a damn. What matters in this game is tactics, teamwork, and focus. Which is partly why this game is fun.

Gameplay is great. Well, when everyone works together. Since teams are made of squads that comprise of different combat roles (who have access to their own weapon classes (carbines and assault rifles are different, ♥♥♥♥♥)), you need to cooperate, and let each other do what you're supposed to do. As said before, guns are realistic, and physics are actually present. Meaning aiming down sights and calculating bullet drop is a must. And yeah...bullets travelling at high velocity and the human body don't mix. Try not to get shot. Other goodies in the bag of "Trail Mix of Death" are suppression and stealth. They both work on players and A.I. It's nice to see these kinds of mechanics, especially since they work well. Oh, and yeah, for th elove of god, play the tutorial, or take a hard, long look at the key bindings. You reaaaallllyy need to.

The game looks nice, even when on low settings. I mean, my slightly nicer potato can really only run this on low settings, and it still looks great. I don't know what the game looks like on higher settings, but whatever.

Content wise, there is a lot of it. There is a nice number of weapons (that you can customize with attachments that actually matter) and gear to choose from (depending on your combat role/team). There are a lot of maps as well, but just know that half of them are night-versions of each regular map. Also, the workshop here on Steam is abundant with stuff to try out. For example: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gJAcc24qPyo

All in all, this is a great game. As far as i've seen the community is nice too. Well...there is one thing. If you are the Security forces on MP, or you decide to play with people on Co-op. Then for the love of god watch for Insurgents in white shirts with rocket propelled grenades on their backs. Those are rocketeers, and by god, they are the most evil people you will ever see in the short two seconds you have until your body is strewn across the dirt like tinsel on a Christmas tree. I have had nightmares. Not kidding. Woke up one night screaming, "R-P-G!!!!" Yeah...i'm sad aren't I?

Just get the game.

Excellent, semi-realistic military shooter game more, more than worth the price.

- Team based PvP multiplayer game modes that involve completing objectives. The main mode is similar to battlefield's conquest, with a twist: you only respawn if someone on your team captures an objective. It's intense, when you're the last man standing.
- Coop-mode where you play together against an army of bots
- large maps with day and night versions
- Satisfying gunplay: the sound is great, the guns have recoil
- Explosives sound great, this game has the most satisfying RPG to shoot out of all fps games I've played
- Varied classes with different equipment, strengths and weaknesses
- No unnecessary bloated features or tacky skins, the game feels serious and pure, although it can be modded with steam workshop content
- Runs perfectly on Linux

Insurgency hits a sweet spot between Cod and Arma.

Insurgency is, for my money at least, the best shooter currently on the market. I've put nearly 100 hours into it and my main thought is why didn't I buy this game earlier. I'd seen it on the store before and just passed on it cause it seemed like some bog standard FPS that i'd spend 20$ on play for a week and never touch again. I couldn't be more wrong. I picked it up while it was on a 3$ sale, my god was it a steal.

There are two sides, Insurgents and Security. Two different styles of games, COOP or Multiplayer. Personally I don't really play COOP much so I don't know much about it. But the one match of survival on tell I did with about five friends was incredible. Made it to wave 63 in about an hour n a half. Bloody amazing fun.

As for multiplayer you can play in three different types each with a few different modes, except for competitive. In Sustained Combat you can choose from: Strike, one team tries to destroy three weapons caches while the other team defends. Occupy, both teams try to capture and hold one point in the middle of the map. Push, where one team tries to capture a series of three objectives then destroy a weapons cache at the end. And Skirmish where both teams fight over three objectives each while simultaneously defending their and destroying their enemie's weapons cache. In tactical operations you can choose one of three modes however this one everyone only has one life except for firefight. In ambush one player is the vip and must be escorted to one of two zones and the other team has to stop him. I've honestly never played elimination before so idk what it's about. The last is firefight where there are three objectives, however you only can respawn if your team takes an objective while you're dead. The last game type, Unranked Competitive is a 5v5 version of firefight.

Now onto the guns n ♥♥♥♥. Well for starters it's asymetrical balance that actually ♥♥♥♥ing works. Security can only use Security guns and the tererrists can only use tourist guns. Weapons range from the AK-74U to the MP5K to the ♥♥♥♥ing M1 Carbine. Each class has different loadouts however it stays fairly simple. MGer get MGs, riflemen get M16s or AKs, snipers get bolt actions and semi auto battle rifles, and engineers get shotguns and SMGs. Now there are a lot more roles than the ones I listed and there is overlap but that's basically it. All of the guns are useable unlike many other games. I've seen people go ham with the MP40 as much as I've seen amazing killstreaks with the UMP-45. You can choose from ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥s of different attachments, optics and ammunition types. You can also choose from 4 different grenades, C4/IED or RPG/AT4. You can also take light, heavy or no armor at all. Most everything will be a one burst kill so it pays to be accurate.

Now for the maps. Holy ♥♥♥♥. There are some absolutely amazing maps: Ministry, Embassy, Verticality, Panj, Kandagal, Siege, Tell, Station. The list goes on and on. Maps range from complete urban combat like Ministry to entire rural like Panj and many have a mix of both. Maps are also asymmetrical. Certain maps Insurgents get to this objecive faster or this map Security gets there four seconds faster. Still all of the maps are very well designed and I haven't found one that I absolutely dislike, even Buhriz which this community for some reason loves.

Random ♥♥♥♥ about the game. Currently the game is run on Source so it's a bit dated but works very well for potatos. Next year the Devs are planning on introducing Insurgency Sandstorm which will be on Unreal 4. The community is rather small which is the biggest problem. It's not so bad that you can't find a match but if you have a group of say 6 people and are looking to play a specfic mode with a populated server it may be a challenge. The community quality is about as good as you'd expect. I've met some really nice people, but honestly, it's 10$ there's lots of idiots around and lots of people who really don't have much FPS skill. There are also two announcers one for each side. The Insurgent one is okay, a bit bog standard. But the Security one, oh man. He's ♥♥♥♥ing hilarious. Actual quote when you're the last guy alive and you clutch it "Man I thought he was just gonna ♥♥♥♥ing die."

TL;DR
♥♥♥♥ you I spent a long time writing this go ♥♥♥♥ing buy this game.

Insurgency is the most realistic shooter / FPS I have ever played.

- Takes 1 bullet to kill someone unless they have heavy armour, If they have heavy armour it takes 2 or 3.
- No jump packs / No jetpacks.
- 15+ Guns.
- 30 maps / Night and day maps.
- Great gamemodes.
- 10+ Classes.
Worth every penny.

Quite possibly the most fun and challenging game I ever played. Excellent gunplay, The adrenaline rush you can get in this game is just insane. Imagine this; You're the last one alive on your team, the only way to get them to respawn is to capture a point on the opposite side of the map. Just you, your gun, and a sea of angry NPCs between you, who won't even hesitate for a second before filling you with lead. You run room to room, across streets, through alleyways. Bullets ricocheting behind you, shooting anything that moves in front of you. You finally make it to the point, your gun low on ammo, you grab a nearby dead terrorist's RPK and set yourself up in the room, waiting as that bar fills, capping the point. Just when you think you're home free, terrorists start pouring through every direction, firing everything they got at you, to stop you from capping that point, you keep firing, mowing them down, hoping for those magic words to resonate through your headphones. "Charlie has been secured", and then. nothing. A terrorist gets a lucky headshot on you, killing you instantly, losing the round, but no one is mad, not your team, and definitely not you. You may have lost, but god damn that was fun.

Its moments like these that sets Insurgency apart from other shooters. The only other shooter I can think of that can give you this kind of rush, is Arma. Speaking of which, in some ways these two games are quite similar. While yes Arma is a open word milsim, and Insurgency is a closed map FPS. Both still are the same in quite a few ways. First off both games feature a leaning mechanic, both allow you to deploy a bipod for better aim, and both let you customize your weaponry. Unlike most shooters. Insurgency tries to give you as less info as possible. Essential things like your teammates and points are present, but things like health and ammo aren't. The only indication of how much ammo you have is a number in the corner. Showing how much magazines you have. Though, that doesn't mean they're full. You could leave 1 bullet in each mag, and still have the game tell you that you got 5 magazines. As for health, lets just say. typically no armor is a one shot kill from most weapons, light armor is 2 shots, and heavy armor allows you to survive up to 3.

I highly recommend Insurgency to anyone, and also recommend Day of Infamy, originally a mod for Insurgency, like Insurgency originally was a mod for Half Life 2. Now a stand alone early access game that takes place during the European WW2 theatre,

Oh, and lets not forget the weapons themselves, American soldiers are granted access to all the typical US armed forces rifles. M4A1, M16A4, M14EBR, the M249 and many more.
The Insurgents on the other hand get more typical weapons of a middle eastern faction, weapons like the AK74, AKM and RPK, but also featured surplus WW2 weapons like the M1 Carbine, MP40, Sterling, and the Mosin.

All in all, amazing gunplay. pretty good selection of firearms, pretty decent though small community, and very easy to get immersed into and have fun, even when failing the same mission over and over.

Honestly, this is one of the best and most fun (realisticly) tatical shooting game/engine I have played...

If I had to start this review off anywhere,
I would start with the graphics!
The graphics in this game aren't at all that good but I would say they are realistic enough to make you feel as though you are acctually fighting in a war! Truthfully, you need a good PC to run this game at high graphics levels! High Graphic = Amazing.

Secondly, This game is supposed to feel real and is made for realism. If you are buying this game as a "Run 'n Gun" game then I MOST DEFINATLY do not suggest this game for you! This game is aimed for realistic gameplay and makes you feel like you are in war!

Thirdly, gameplay in this game is amazing (for me, and most people). If you are being shot at and have already been shot once in the leg, you are probably going to die, if you get spotted and are facing an enemy in close quaters, you need to react fast because it takes only one or two rounds to the body/head to kill someone. This is what makes this game amazing and unbeleivably hard for people (this makes it fun). This makes the gameplay not as hard for snipers as they probably will get the kill in one shot!

Overall this is an amazing game and I have only spoken about a few aspects! It really makes you feel like you are at the event in real life and the crazily scary and chilling sounds of the bullet flying your way!
I rate this game a 10/10 (Would rate again, lol jk) and this is AMAZING!

but PLEASE, on most servers team killing is on (for realism) so do NOT be minge and shoot your mates on purpose xdd!

Thanks for reading and I hope you consider trying out this AMAZING game!
