Buy Train Simulator: BR Class 101 DMU Add-On

About This Content

Produced by Metro-Cammell in Birmingham, the Class 101 was considered to be one of the most successful first generation diesel multiple units ever produced by British Rail, and is now available for Train Simulator in familiar BR liveries.

The Class 101 was one of the largest classes of first generation DMUs, built between 1956 and 1959 and lasting well into the 21st Century. Their top speed of 70mph saw the units used mainly on suburban and branch line passenger workings, and such was their popularity and relatively late withdrawal from revenue-earning service, many have been preserved on the UK’s heritage railways.

The Class 101 for Train Simulator is available in British Rail’s blue and blue/grey liveries and features realistic manual gear change, fully detailed cab and control panel, in-cab lighting and an upgrade to TSX standard features.

The DMU is also Quick Drive compatible, giving you the freedom to drive the Class 101 on any Quick Drive enabled route for Train Simulator, such as those available through Steam. Also included are scenarios specifically for the East Coast Main Line (available separately and required to play these scenarios).

Scenarios

Three scenarios for the East Coast Main Line route:
  • Class 101 (BR Blue) Tutorial
  • Blue Monday
  • Grey All Around
More scenarios are available on Steam Workshop online and in-game. Train Simulator’s Steam Workshop scenarios are free and easy to download, adding many more hours of exciting gameplay. With scenarios being added daily, why don’t you check it out now!

Wonderful surprise, a cracking little DMU thats as full of character as it is value!

The best thing is they actually nailed the proper manual gear change, the revs dropping and rising as they should as you do so, making a much more interesting driving experience.

What else can I say, even at full price, this is only a fiver (£5) so you can even go and buy the Armstrong Powerhouse soundpack for it and it'll still be cheaper than the much worse class 105!

I really like this loco in real and this was very good to have. Having gears gives you more feel for the loco so 10/10.

Ah, a true TS Essential. Usually if a piece of DLC is less than £10, I suggest get it & this is no exception. It's great value for money and a true bargain in a Sale, but what do you get? Two liveries, countless variations of trains (2-car, 3-car, 4-car, etc.), custom destination boards and three scenarios.

However, that's not really the point. This pack is pretty much essential if you play TS, or like to create your own scenarios or download content for the Steam Workshop - many, many scenarios use these and they are just fantastic. The liveries are nicely done (especially the Blue & Grey), it comes with a ton of features and is... challenging to drive. If you're not used to gears on a loco, bear that in mind - you'll learn it eventually though and to be honest, it's more difficult for me on the Class 03 but that's another story.

My Dad say's these DMU's used to be his favourite - he'd travel on them on the way home from School and would alway's try and bag the seat where you could see the Driver at the Controls & the line ahead. After using this pack quite a lot, it's easy to see why he liked them. And for the price, I suggest that you don't wait for the Sales to get this. Get it none-the-less - it's just fantastic!

It's good, but basically no different from the old version except is has a cab light and different liveries. The sounds and physics still SUCK. Get the Armstrong Powerhouse pack if you buy this. Please, for the love of god, don't put yourself through the stock sounds and physics...

Good Model. Runs very well with the gears. Works well on mainline work or on the branch lines.

Picked it up out of boredom, the sounds gave me all sorts of diseases, but seeing the gears properly modelled was a pleasant shock! This is the best out of the other packs, as it includes two liveries compared to the normal one of the other options. Control the gears with 'E' and 'Shift + E'.

My first dlc, use to regular on all lines, I use to ride on them as a kid, so I have soft spot for them,,,

Good value for money... If you own a line with a lot of station's on, they're really good fun in QD.
