About This Game

The Stanley Parable is a first person exploration game. You will play as Stanley, and you will not play as Stanley. You will follow a story, you will not follow a story. You will have a choice, you will have no choice. The game will end, the game will never end. Contradiction follows contradiction, the rules of how games should work are broken, then broken again. This world was not made for you to understand.

But as you explore, slowly, meaning begins to arise, the paradoxes might start to make sense, perhaps you are powerful after all. The game is not here to fight you; it is inviting you to dance.

Based on the award-winning 2011 Source mod of the same name, The Stanley Parable returns with new content, new ideas, a fresh coat of visual paint, and the stunning voicework of Kevan Brighting. For a more complete and in-depth understanding of what The Stanley Parable is, please try out the free demo.

This game can last 15 minutes or 5 hours, depending on how much you chose to explore and listen to the narrator, this game gives you freedom, but also limits you. This is a very unique game, that for the 15$ price tag makes it worth it and is a pretty good game, it aint very long, you can easily beat this in 15 minutes, but it still worth your time.

The positive reviews I read of this, rang in my head and reminded me of the Emperor's New clothes as I actually played the game. Now regardless, it does make a fair and informed point - and make it well - about how games work. There just isn't really much to it, nor is it going to be exactly relvatory if you've (mis)used save game systems to try alternate outcomes in a game before.

Not badby any means, but probably not worth more than a dollar, all up,

I was going to be a ♥♥♥♥ and try to beat the game in under 2 hours and refund the game. That was before I realized that their is no "beating" this game there is only understanding and accepting. Right now I'm obssesed with discovering every possible outcome of the game, and I have so many suspicions about every little possible secret of the game. Buy it, it is well worth your money.

A clever exploration game that is good for an afternoon. Try your best to find all the endings yourself before resorting to guides. An amazing feeling when you try something dumb and the game creator has already prepared for it.

$15 is a bit steep, grab it when it is on sale for $3.

This game isn't for everybody but if you like games that make fun of you and other things going on (especially with gaming in general) then this game is definitely for you.
It's also quite cheap right now so there really isn't any reason to not play it.
The game is quite short though, I did every ending and I'm still below where I thought I would be in terms of play time.

It would be a huge shame if you didn't buy this game while it is on sale. I purchased this game when it was new and full price, and I've gotta say that even for the short amount of gameplay, the game itself is absolute genius.

The writing and voice acting is absolutely incredible. The environment and ambiance is impressive. The story? Well, all of them, I should say, are intriguing and the game will make you work sometimes to achieve each ending. I don't think I've actually played through them all, some of them are actually pretty tricky to figure out.

I reiterate, it would be a *huge* shame if you didn't spend a couple bucks on this game while it's on sale.

Funny for 30 mins, then its just pointless and boring. Watch a broadcast or youtube video of it instead.

Sorry, I really really really really really really really really really wanted to like you. But there was something about you that made me not like it. Your game is too fast-ending, and every time I get an ending I have to start over. I just don't see how this game will not end, because it keeps ending. I hope this review gets on one of your trailer so the game makers can see it and fix it, you made me feel like I wasted my money on something that felt like some, FLASH GAME. Please update it and make more things to go or compete for. I want to like you.

There once was a man named Stanley,

Who people considered so manly.

But the truth must be told,

He was not very old,

And was quite particularly gangly.

What Stanley liked most was buttons.

He pushed them like some kind of glutton.

He did it all day

In a meaningful way,

But his brain had long ceased to function.

Which is why he is in this parable,

And lives an existence quite terrible.

And if you are not strong,

And keep playing along,

You too will become quite unbearable (x2).

"This is the story of a man named Stanley. Stanley worked for a company in a big building where he was employee number 427...

Get comfortable, the endings are different but the intro will always be the same."

You play as Stanley and follow or derail a not really great story. The story is nonlinear as you listen to or disregard The Narrator.

I highly recommend this game but I really don't but The Narrator is holding me at gunpoint and I would suggest buying it but really don't because The Narrator will be after you too.

Have fun!

Okay, I wrote a good review, check for yourself!

A walking simulator done right. A game that's extremely aware of itself and the player, and uses its meta narrative in clever, inventive and enjoyable ways, unlike 90% of indie trash. Humor, horror, drama - it does it all and does it well. Has surprising amounts of replayability.

One of the few games to truly make me laugh out loud; the way the Narrator responds to your actions (or lack thereof) is just genius!
Whilst the game may be short, it is eminently replayable to discover all the different routes and endings.
Thoroughly recommended!

It's worth a few dollars, you'll get a laugh out of it, but the $15 regular price on here is ridiculously overpriced for the time you'll spend in game.

If you like snarky narrators and adequate planning for players deviating from the main path, give this one a go. The game's limited in its replayability, and by now, there are enough LPs to have seen everything. If possible, go in blind, but it's otherwise a fun game to try out. It being a sale at the time of writing, you should pick this up regardless.

Note: if, like me, you played the original mod back in the day, you'll get an even bigger kick from the game, but I would not recommend you going back to play that now. Find a video for a little extra as you explore.
