Rocksmith 2014 Remastered: Official FAQ

This year marks the 5th anniversary of Rocksmith as a franchise – and to prepare for the occasion, we’ve been working on some special stuff behind the scenes. The biggest idea is definitely Rocksmith 2014 Remastered, which brings some fan-requested features and several improvements to the software you already know and love. Here’s a quick overview of Remastered:

--

What is Rocksmith 2014 Edition Remastered?
Rocksmith 2014 Edition Remastered is a free patch for all platforms and an updated re-release of Rocksmith 2014 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC, and Macintosh. Remastered is the same core experience that has helped so many people learn to play guitar, now with additional improvements and redesigned features.

--

When will Rocksmith 2014 Edition Remastered be available?
Rocksmith 2014 Edition Remastered is scheduled for release in stores in October 2016 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC, and Macintosh. (Existing Rocksmith 2014 players on all platforms will receive the Remastered improvements as a free patch at the same time.)

--

What has been updated for Remastered?
Remastered includes a major patch featuring a wide variety of improvements that we hope will be welcomed by new and experienced players alike.

• Manage your song library using updated Search, Sort, and Filter tools
• Search by artist or song name in Learn a Song, Score Attack, and the Shop—just enter the desired text with your keyboard or game controller
• Build custom Song Lists in Nonstop Play to group songs for personalized practice sessions
• Pause and navigate freely through entire tracks in Riff Repeater, and loop phrases more efficiently
• View all song arrangements from the improved Song Hub, and launch directly into any of them without changing paths
• Filter your Nonstop Play list by tuning, and switch between all available arrangements between songs
• Customize the rate of Dynamic Difficulty adjustments, or disable the feature altogether
• Track your progress with detailed in-game player statistics

--

If I already own Rocksmith 2014, do I need to buy Remastered?
Nope! It’s the same core software, and the updates it offers will be supplied to existing players through a free patch.

--

As an existing Rocksmith 2014 player, how do I get the Remastered improvements?
If you’re already enjoying Rocksmith 2014, all the improvements found in Remastered will be delivered in the form of a free patch. That applies to all six platforms – PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Xbox One, Xbox 360, PC, and Macintosh – none of our existing players will be left behind!

--

When will the patch be available for existing players?
The patch is slated to appear this fall. When it’s available, just go online with your system of choice and the update will download automatically. Watch the forums at Rocksmith.com as well as our social media portals on Twitter and Facebook for news.

--

Are there any new songs in Remastered?
The core song library that comes with the main software remains the same as Rocksmith 2014 Edition. As an incentive for new players, a voucher with codes for six bonus DLC songs will come with physical copies of Rocksmith 2014 Edition Remastered at retail; players will redeem these codes via an online connection to obtain the bonus songs. However, these songs will also be made available for purchase as DLC for existing players, so no songs will be available exclusively through Remastered.

Those six bonus DLC songs are:

• Bob Marley & The Wailers – Three Little Birds
• Elvis Presley – Suspicious Minds
• FUN. – Some Nights
• Jackson 5 – I Want You Back
• Outkast – Hey Ya!
• Train – Drops Of Jupiter

--

If I already own Rocksmith 2014, how do I get the Remastered edition’s bonus songs?
These six tracks will be available for purchase as DLC the same week that Remastered becomes available at retail outlets. There is nothing exclusive to Rocksmith 2014 Edition Remastered; all its content will be made available to current players, as well.

--

We’ll share more details about what you can expect from Rocksmith 2014 Remastered in the coming weeks, and we’ll be talking about Remastered today on our livestream – join us at http://www.twitch.tv/rocksmithgame at 3pm PT/6pm ET/10pm GMT if you can. I've been playing Rocksmith 2014 for a couple months now, and I really can't recommend it enough -- especially if you're an intermediate-level guitarist/bassist (like me) looking to learn some new songs and techniques (also like me). It's far from perfect, and it's certainly not the only learning tool you should be using, but it's a top-notch supplement with loads of great options and features. The DLC list is spectacular, which can make buying new songs a bit of a slippery slope; just be sure to double-check a song's tuning(s) before you buy it. Absolutely worth a look, especially if you happen to find the game and Real Tone Cable on sale somewhere.

Whether you're a professional guitar player or just a beginner, Rocksmith is for you no matter what. Amazing selection of songs, the mechanics are amazing and it really motivates you to keep playing guitar. Without a doubt would recommend Rocksmith for all your guitar and bass needs.

So, short review. I like this guitar learning tool. It's easily the best way to learn guitar because it gives the player incentives and puts the notes right there, on the screen and you play that note like it's Guitar Hero, only real. This game has several different modes too, it has a session mode where you can jam with a virtual band equip with any musical style you wish to jam with as well as having several minigames that help you hone different techniques. There's a game where you have to bend the string at a precise point, there's a game where it's like Space Invaders and you hit the notes on your guitar to shoot at the aliens coming down. Rocksmith's main feature is the song list it has and by itself. this song list does appeal to everyone, even the old rock fans, like myself. I got to play Don't Look Back by Boston or My Generation by The Who. It's got other songs that tackle different genres but I haven't really paid any attention to those. The game will adjust to your skill level and you can, now, manually adjust to the skill level you think you're ready for and the game will work with it. I highly recommend this to beginners and advanced players alike because Rocksmith 2014 is just plain fun and you can even get the DLC from the previous game so it's a win win. Don't get the previous game but this one because it improves everything from the old one. The old one felt clunky and didn't let you play at a skill level at your choosing. This one does. You can also play Bass on here so if you're a bass player, they got you covered.

Overall it's a great way to have some fun playing with a guitar, even if you have no prior experiences. You will want to look into CDLC or else you might get bored with the limited selection.

Also, they don't really update these games aside from releasing more songs you can buy, so when you run into something that annoys you you're stuck with it until they make the next version of Rocksmith. Feels more like a console game than a PC game in that way.

But with that said there isnt really any competition making this the best of its kind. My only complaints are things like not enough minigames, not enough options for sorting songs and making playlists, and just some general interfacing issues. The core gameplay itself is still really solid.

Great game for learning to play the Guitar. I would recommend that you also get lessons at the same time as this will speed up your learning. Also having a tutor has taught me a lot about the bad habits I had picked up which isn't some think I could have learnt from this game such as proper thumb and hand placement, how to improve switching between chords and more. I have played this game now with three different guitars and not had an issue.

The riff repeater is a wonderful tool which helps you to conquer the parts of a song where you get stuck and another great feature is the guitar arcade with games such as star chords which have been fun, challenging and helped me progress my chrod switching and has taught me some more chords.

I can't think of anything negative to say about this game. The only thing is before buying this game you have to know that you won't be instantly good and you have to practice in order to get good.

If you're wondering whether Rocksmith 2014 can teach you to play guitar with no prior experience, the answer is a resounding yes. It's not going to teach you perfect technique, but it will get you started on the basics. You'll likely need to suplement it with youtube lessons (I highly recommend justinguitar), or in person lessons - but they're not necessary to have a good time, and pick up some basic skills.

It provides the motivation, enjoyment and sense of progression to keep you playing (and learning), and while I'm by no means "good" after 100+ hours, I'm definitely learning, improving, and having a lot of fun. Sometimes I even sound good while doing it! This was a great buy, well worth picking up. The cable can be hard to track down (and is required, no-cable methods just don't work properly), so check you can get one before buying the game.

Great game for those looking to play, practice or learn guitar.
Extremely useful and unique way of helping you improve.
The game passively increases the difficulty of each song depending on how well you play certain sections.

Really useful. 10/10.

Do you want to learn to play the guitar/bass guitar then get this game. Hundreds of songs to chose from (although 99% of them must be bought first) and different difficulties to help you in the journey to becoming the next Jimi Hendix, Dave Mustaine, Slash, or whoever your favourite guitar player is. Metal, rock, even jazz lessons are included in this game.

However, more gamemodes can be added into the game to make it less frustrating to learn to play a song, and the cable is VERY expensive. 45$ for the cable from Ubisoft, because other cheaper cables like this dont work with the game.

9/10 Get it if you like playing the guitar.

Rocksmith 2014 has helped me along my journey of guitar playing, the lessons are easy to follow and unlike YouTube, you play at your own pace. Overall, great game coming from a self taught guitarist of 8 months.
