O que os desenvolvedores têm a dizer:

“I don't think I've ever been so giddy working on a project. I find myself just grinning at the screen instead of actually working on the game, wandering around the world watching our creatures or exploring the cool things that the procedural system made. Our vision with Windborne is both simple and enormously complex at the same time. We want to make a Miyazaki-style Disneyland of creative sandbox worlds- an infinite number of dense, exciting islands to explore with your friends, full of high adventure, where it's up to you to decide what to do. Inspired by games such as Animal Crossing, Minecraft, Dwarf Fortress, and the early Zeldas, expect more features to be added and finessed as we move closer to launch.”

Windborne Update, 7/22/2014

Windborne Signs, Ladders, and Launchers Update, 7/22/2014

  • New features:
    • New Climbable (vines, ladders)
    • New Launcher (you can shift-click it in gather mode to switch between various directions)
    • New Signs (Iconic Standing Sign, Iconic Wall Sign, Iconic Floor Sign, Standing Sign, Floor Sign, Hanging Sign)
      • Activate normal signs to write text on them. Click in the text box to write on the sign.
      • Shift-click iconic signs to go through the icons
    • You can turn on auto-gather in settings. This makes it so you continually gather in gather mode without holding down the right mouse button.
  • Misc fixes/polish:
    • UI Consistency update (buttons, scrollbars, etc)
    • Fly-to-player no longer teleports you inside the target player
    • Physics is now turned off for plants, ladders, etc. You can place these even if standing in the block.
    • Wall and brick blocks are much more efficient (they hide geometry that is obscured). This is retroactive.
    • Hand auto-hide is less annoying
  • Bug fixes:
    • Many crash fixes
    • Pets tamed as a client no longer act like they belong to the host
    • Malik/Ferals only take one block from item stacks (you won’t lose all your gold in one swoop)
    • Music volume setting is less sensitive
    • Player/Character loading is more safe and tries to handle/recover corrupted characters
    • Some broken UI crafting filters were fixed

When I purchased this game I knew it wasn't going to be complete, and I must admit it looks fantastic and runs smoothly. Yet 9 months later and it seems to be in basically the same place except there is dlc for sale. You want me to spend more money? Maybe you should finish the incomplete game game I purchased at $30 first. I've lost confidence, patience, and interest in this company and it's game. Maybe one day this game will be amazing but at this point I'm so disenchanted that I couldn't care less if it did.

I am not a person that writes reviews after simply playing a game for a few short hours. Usually I would like to put in at least 30 hours plus, But having said that, I bought four copies of this for myself and my son's. But they are now totally bored with it. The graphics are great and the idea is wonderful. Now that we have played all the tutorial missions now what? There is a lot of improvements to be made and we have not seen an update since June. All we have been given is an excuse as why they have not been working on the program. I paid a lot of money for this game so my family could play, and be part of early access. At this point I don't see how this game is going to catch my family’s attention again.
The last time my Son's played it, I had had to threaten them. ( "If you don’t play Windborne you can’t play any other games"). That trick barley worked.

This game always looked great, lots of potential. However be careful before buying this

They dont update the game since July/2014. I recommend you dont buy it, they arent working on this game anymore, looks like it will not be finished.

Once they finish this, i will change my review

No communication from the devs for long stretches of time.

Currently, I would recommend to stay away. At least until the devs learn how to talk with their fans/customers.

As for actual game play content, there are things to do, just keep in mind the game is not finished yet. If we go off their last post to us, it won't be done for a long time (if ever). If we go off of the fact that they dropped this game's development for a different game altogether for the last few months, I would hazard a guess it won't ever get done since it's self funded.

They shot themselves in the foot walking away and not saying anything to the community, which is sad, this game had a lot of potential, enough so I grabbed the highest package when I bought the game.

For now, stay away.

Complete early access scam

Give them money so they can go to the beach

Steam has no quality control on early access and dont seem to care.

Avoid this one - completely unfinished.

Pay close attention to the disclaimer about early access games. Note: This Early Access game is not complete and may or may not change further. If you are not excited to play this game in its current state, then you should wait to see if the game progresses further in development.

The last update to the game was July 2014. I think the "may not change further" part of the disclaimer is pretty likely at this point.

It has potential. No make that it "had" potential. Right now it's desolate and lacks any updates (almost five months at the time of writing this). Save your money. Maybe it will be developed again and be more worth it....maybe

Astranon's Rating of Windborne:
Gameplay (Is it fun?): 2/4
Visuals (Does it look good?): 3/4
Originality (Is it one of a kind?): 1/4
Playability (Is it free of errors and other issues?): 1/4
Overall Rating: 44% out of 100%

Astranon's Review of Windborne:
With its whimsical looks and open-ended approach to creativity, Windborne gives the impression that it has much to offer. Like Minecraft and Terraria before it, it is a game that invites the player to shape the world he or she is dropped into. You can freely explore, gather resources, or take on quests. Battle is nonexistent in the game, so there is no element of danger that would threaten to destroy you or your creations. The underlying concept is not original by any means, but the game does manage to give it a fairly attractive new face.

Underneath its cute exterior, however, Windborne is not so appealing. Because the game is still in development, it is prone to errors that cause the game to crash. It also contains numerous references to features that do not exist in the game. Does the fact that the developers label this game as "Early Access" excuse these things? No - and here's why. The developers currently charge $29.99 or more for players to purchase what would be called a demo in the early days of PC gaming. For that kind of money, players should be able to enjoy playing a fully functional game. As it stands, Windborne is at best a preview of a game that may or may not exist at some point in the future.

Just yesterday, one of the developers (Steam user Kaboom) made a post to the Windborne Community Discussion. She writes, "Our original plan of three years was temporarily shortened, but now we have to go back to being realistic. Because we’re still out there in Early Access this could change again, but right now we’re back developing at a what-we-can-self-fund pace." The question in any reader's mind should be whether Windborne will ever be considered a finished product since it's not expected to be completed for at least three years.

A similar demo, er, game was released by Linden Lab called Patterns. Like Windborne, it was a sandbox game that focused on allowing players to be creative. It remained labeled as an Early Access game from the time of its release in May 2013 until an announcement was made in October 2014 that development for Patterns was being abandoned. At no point in that time frame did the developers decide to stop charging Steam users $10.00 apiece for their unfinished product. One cannot help but wonder if Windborne itself will turn out to be just another Early Access game taking advantage of Steam users in the same way.

The gaming community deserves better. I do not recommend this game.

Feeling a little burned by this company and the company which participated in your promotional campaign. It was obvious after a few days that they didn't actually like this game and were just making a buck from you. Then you guys went dark and I felt like you were just making a buck from me...needless to say I'm not pleased with either of your companies and you guys are definitely not out of the dark yet.

I'm hoping to see this little gem get the treatment it deserves. But the damage is done and I'm certainly not buying anything else from you guys until some of this shady business is cleared up. A post about how you are most definitely working is great and all but...prove it.

Game is charming but novelty bonus only holds up so long. This is not Minecraft with better graphics because the minecraft devs deliver time and again.
Usually someone says: you underestimate time spans in game developement. Nonsense you can tell by the increments if something is in the making. There is a large team here, there is a huge pot of money when asking 28€ for the game and 14€ more for a useless DLC so there is more to be expected than some new objects to craft every month like all the missing gameplay elements which read "coming soon" for example.
Consider Terraria, content and asking price, you'll understand. Consider Minecraft.

A shame since the world was so rich and promising but like Peter Molyneux the team isn't up to deliver it.

i realy like this game but its just a bit empty at this stage, i kinda feel like the hidden path just kinda took my money and ran no recent updates and next to no communincation to all the people that payed a fair bit of money for the game.

i agree what Particles said

I have bought some good games on Steam, this is not 1 of them. Just check how often they update it and you will see for yourselves. Overpriced and very little content. I am left feeling totally ripped off. Well, you have been warned.

Pros:
- Eye-catching graphics
- Decent, soothing soundtrack
- Terrain deformation is kind of cool

Cons:
- Poor optimization and bugs, but that is to be expected from an early access game
- Lack of variety in content, very limited type/variety of items in the game.
- Lack of depth, gameplay is very linear. You collect resources, craft stuff(using the menu/stove/shaper), complete missions and that's basically it.
- Right-clicking FTW. You only need to hold right-click to gather blocks which is pretty dumb imo.
- Way too easy. No health system. You don't need to worry about fall damage, hunger, monsters or anything. There's a also a button in the menu that teleports you back to starting location without cost. This game is not challenging nor fun by any standards.

I managed to put in 6 hours, but the game really bores me in its current state.
Not recommended.

Extremely overpriced for what it currently represents, Windborne is seemingly yet another Early Access game that will never see it's final release.

While this game is full of promise, I cannot recommend it in its current form. If you want an average sandbox game with a pretty small world and nothing to do except for building, go ahead. If you are expecting a better version of Minecraft, forget it. Stick to Minecraft unless this game adds a lot more content.

Windborne has been a great experience so far.
Slick design, cute creatures, questing system that makes you explore the (currently 3) biomes.
If you like voxel based building/exploring games, you should really try this out.

Currently still in early access, but i see a bright future for Windborne

Pros: EVERYTHING IS CUTE!

Cons: Cannot murder cute things...yet.

As of now the game is visually wonderful. I've only run into maybe 3 types of critters and a few Jinn, but they are all simply adorable. even the landscape and building materials have a whimsical feel to them, giving the whole world an otherworldly, happy vibe.

Right now, the game is mostly just exploring your small island and building a really pretty house on it. There are a few quests, but it's just the normal, done-to-death "collect X things" type stuff. I'm hoping for more interesting quests and challenges in the future. Combat is currently non-existent, but I'm assuming that will change soon. It has serious potential to be one of the major players in the rising genre of voxel-based sandbox games.

If you're looking for a complete games with hours of content, this game isn't ready for you. But keep an eye on it, because it will be. If you're looking to support a developer making a really fun sandbox filled with critters that would make Chuck Norris Squee, then this is your game.

I have been waiting for this to develop more but decided to go ahead and buy it on sale. I did not think there was any possibility of it being good without combat or character development. I was wrong! It was actually really fun following the building/crafting quests and exploring. It runs very smooth and seems pretty polished for its current status. There are so many things you can craft and I love the art style. It has a lot of content considering there are many other features planned. I love it!

Also, the quote about it being the finest early access game on steam is true for me and what I have experienced. I mostly only play these types of games. :p

NOTE: This review is WIP and written after only aprox 15hours of gameplay so I reserve the right to change my opinion at a later date.

I was looking for a game that didn't involve killing and was suitable for all ages to play, one that promoted creativity and positivity; Windboure even in early access is proving do all that. Since the devs genuinely seem to care about their player base and the game I took the plunge to suport Windboure even though I'm extremely wary purchasing early access games. So far I have not regretted the purchase.

Windboure is very much like Minecraft's creative mode at the moment, which for me is fine because it runs better on my PC than Minecrat does (and in minecraft I found that the POV was off no matter where I set the slider leading me to feel sick upon playing for any extended period of time.) In Minecraft I never got on with the low view distance/pop-in (even at max settings) either and Windboure is loads better in that regard, for example, if you build a massive tower you can see it from a long way off in Windborne - it doesn't just magically disappear like in Minecraft.

Veterans of Minecraft will be happy with many of the creative options in Windboure (such as being able to sculpt blocks) however there is currently no similar thing to dyed wool blocks in Windboure (at least that I've been able to find anyway) and some players will miss the lack of colour options for their creative play.

Graphically I personally think some of the textures need work. It's difficult for me to explain this but some of the shades of blocks don't appear to be from the same game. For me at least I'd have chosen one primary green for example and used other shades of the same green on a strict gradient where necessary for other things. Of course the devs may have chosen to make the Windboure appear chaotic as far as the colour palate is concerned, but as it is now it looks wrong to me. That is a minor critisism from my own point of view though.

All in all though Windboure is shaping up to become a must have game and I'm really looking forward to where the devs take us.
