Huge FREE update just released

We have just released a huge FREE update to Zombie Driver HD which includes a lot of improvements to the game.

Major changes:
- more than doubled the number of zombies roaming the streets,
- a lot more weapons around the city which results in much more dynamic gameplay,
- a new "Retro" camera setting which presents gameplay from an entirely top-down perspective with no camera rotation,
- bloody skidmarks when driving through blood splats
- dust particles are emitted when a car is drifting
- soft ambient occlusion shadows (HBAO),
- depth fog,
- environment reflections,
- new animated objects,
- improved particle animation and physically simulated particles,
- improved atmospheric effects and rebalanced all missions,

The new update enables HBAO by default (it is called Screen Space Ambient Occlusion in the config window). This option may be hard on some older or integrated graphics cards so if you are experiencing performance problems please disable it in the config screen or decrease your rendering resolution (the rendering performance cost of this feature is directly tied to the screen resolution). We also strongly encourage everyone to leave Vsync turned on.

Huge Free update available in Beta

We are currently working on a huge FREE update to Zombie Driver HD which includes a lot of big improvements to the game.

We have just released the update as a public beta and it would be great if you could help us spot any problems before we make it live for everyone. If you want to check out the update right click on Zombie Driver HD in your list of games on Steam, select Properties, go to the Beta tab and select the Public Beta from the drop down menu. The update should download approximately 1.1GB (we've changed a lot of stuff).

If you would encounter any crashes or problems it would help us greatly if you could send us the debug information that should be created with each crash. You can find crash dump information here (Exact location depends on which windows version you have and may be slightly different.):
C:\Users\your_username\Documents\ZombieDriverHD

Memory dump file name should be similar to this:
ZombieDriverHD_3221225477_2010_1_8_T13_50_3.mdmp

Please send the files and your feedback to support@zombiedriver.com. We would very much appreciate your help in smoothing out any problems!

+ Missions are fast-paced and brutally fun
+ Satisfying visuals and audio
+ Slaughter mode provides hours of fun and leaderboard competition

This isn't a game that wastes its time delivering compelling narratives or experimenting with some new spin on dispatching contemporary gaming's most overused enemies; it's just you and your car. You smash through them and the destructible terrain with taxis and school buses, you fry them with rocket launchers and flamethrowers, and you level up your weapons and armor to do the same job more efficiently. It's not the most imaginative game around, but it's dumb, gory fun.
In single-player, you’re challenged with over 30 different missions, each set in a huge open-world environment. Sadly, the campaign’s variety doesn’t live up to its scope, with most objectives finding you driving to different locations and relieving them of the undead.
There are secondary errands for you to complete, but these often slap an arbitrary time limit on the endeavour, or force you to plough through a specific number of corpses in return for monetary bonuses.

While the campaign might yield its share of kicks, it's nowhere near as engaging as the survival-style Slaughter mode, which pits you against escalating numbers of zombie hordes and rewards you with weapon upgrades for surviving a round. As you progress through the campaign and the other game modes, you’ll constantly be earning cash. The game boasts a combo system, which sees you richly rewarded for initiating kill chains.
In order to maximise your score, you need to use various different kill tactics in a single string. For example, you’ll need to kill enemies with the front, sides, and behind of your car, as well as with different weapons, turbo boosts, and more. Making the most out of this mechanic is essential, as it enables you to afford the aforementioned vehicle upgrades, and makes you more versatile in combat.

As in the campaign, there's a welcome variety of enemies, including run-of-the-mill zombies that swarm the car, hulking brutes that throw bricks, and fat zombies that rush you and explode.
If there's a problem, it's that the tiny maps feel cramped after the spacious landscapes of the campaign, and the limited space ensures that you spend much of your time in Slaughter mode simply driving around in circles

The game boasts some outstanding visual effects, but these can be overwhelming. Some missions take place at night with only your vehicle’s headlights and the crackle of lightning to illuminate your path – but while these stages look stunning, it can be near impossible to navigate your way through the open-world’s windy back roads with so little lighting.
It doesn’t help that the compass system and map overlay is dreadfully clunky, making it hard to know where you’re going in even the clearest weather conditions.

Zombie Driver HD features a more varied narrative campaign that is twice as long as the original, adding epic boss fights, demolition missions, new enemies and special vehicles such as a fire truck, bulldozer and even a tank, as well as many more gameplay enhancements. Zombie Driver HD does its job well enough for you to overlook its lesser aspects; after all, it understands what makes the concept so appealing to begin with.

If lavender tea and deep breathing don't help after a bad day, try this. Mixed with the proper metal this game's survival mode is a great stress reliever. Plus, it throws out achievements like candy making you feel like even more of a rock star. I sat down planning to spend 30 minutes killing some zombies...I walked away 4 hours later feeling as if I had been at a day spa.

Very interesting game, I'd say.
I really enjoyed playing it and will definitely continue playing it when I'm in the mood from some zombie killing with a vehicle that has weapons on it.
Unlockable cars, ugrades for your cars, weapons and so. I really recommend this game.

And for people who like to get achievement from games, I've played the game for about 8 hours now, and I've already unlocked 60 of 103 achievements in the game.

This remake of Zombie Driver adds some new content and modes to play, though the modes are kinda useless the base game itself is still very enjoyable and fun. A top down isometric GTA style view except now with more zombehs. Choose diff vehicles and enjoy mowing them all down. The plus for the remake in HD is the controls work much better instead of the confused mess they were in the last version. The tournament mode is sorta meh, rubberband racer AI, weird things that make your car flip over or spin around. Ignoring the modes which are a failed experiment, the game itself gives what all zombie fans want more of, more zombies! Lots of replayability with mission select so you can test out all the cars to get your zombie fix.

Rating: 10/10 Value: $9.99

All in all, Zombie Driver HD is not a bad game. The game does offer enough content for a good time and the improved HD visuals make the on screen carnage really pop. If you are a fan of car combat games and killing mindless zombies, I suggest checking this one out.

If you liked driving around and killing people with your car in GTA 1 & 2, you might take a pleasure in playing Zombie Driver. You've either got a machine gun, a flamethrower, a rocket launcher or a railgun mounted on your car. You even can choose your vehicle, e.g. a taxi, a sports car and not at last a tank in story mode. Beside the story mode, which is not that sophisticated, there is a racing called Blood Race and a survival mode called Slaughter. All of those are fun and the game itself is just about fun, it is certainly not a high-class game. Despite the variety of three playable modes, the game is rather short. Nonetheless it is worth buying, especially on sale.

Just drive back and forth until it feels right. When that doesn't happen, go make yourself some french fries and just keep goin until the screaming stops. When you're done with the fries, keep goin until your car is upgraded enough that you no longer slow down when the zombies become to thick. Do not play this game in real life unless you're sure there are zombies out on streets in your city. Apparently the military is too busy to kick some zombie ♥♥♥, so they have enlisted you to run over some zombies using all sorts of zany vehicles with many possible upgrades.

Just remember to keep goin!

It's actually not a bad game at all. It's very fun and addicting. It would be good if the game had a free roam in it. I love the blood in the game :D. Got it for 0.70€ using a coupon :D :P

I actually really like this one. Not sure if there's anything bad to say about it. It's not your Triple-A title with a rich plot and surprisingly innovative gameplay but I don't think that it intends to be that. If you want to let off steam, this is it. Kinda like Nation Red, only in a car.

Quality is also very good, visually and technically. Oh, and good controller support; playing it with a Xbox 360 controller.

One of the few games I like to get back to now and then and still enjoy it. Recommended.

Wow, this was a deal for $3.00 with all the DLCs. Excellent, solidly well made game, experienced none of the problems other players reported. Tons of fun to play and even good single-player story campaign. I even bought a controller just for this game and now its among my favorites. Great way to release all that road RAGE!

Very entertaining game. Has 3 game modes and multiple vehicles. Story mode has 31 missions and they are kinda short. Race mode is a little difficult on my opinion, but fun as well. Slaughter mode is great but a little exhausting. The gold score is high and you get points very slowly. But you get used to it and actually don't even pay attention to the score while playing. Really enjoyable. Better than I expected. Great addition to my library.

Probably the best $2 I've ever spent on the world wide web. Who doesn't enjoy hood mounted death machines on a taxi? I for one enjoy very much what I recently spoke of.

I award this game 8 rum and colas out of 10.

Oh how satisfying it is to kill THOUSAND of zombies! Got it on sale for only 1.34 €. I think they should've added some kind of a free roam mode but that's just me :)

This game reminds me of Death Rally. If you enjoy top down zombie killing, worth the pickup. Story mode was not overly long, but I could see me coming back to replay this for a "quick fix"

What is there to say about Zombie driver HD that has not already been said?

Coopl story, excellent concept, and easy to have fun with, but hard to master. If you have ever dreamed about racing a taxi with rocket launchers into a zombie mob, pressing fire, and driving through a fireball of epic proportions, then this game is for you.

I would suggest buying an X-box controller for this.

Drink for this game? Mountain dew, mixed with vodka and a dash of lime, with a spoonfull of strawberry jam.

Simple premise - zombies have resulted from a large explosion at a corporation trying to cure cancer, and everyone is infected. You are a talented driver (I guess) and you are recruited to help out the army as they try to evaculate or establish a base. Missions are fun, fast and filled with satisfying gibbing of zombies everywhere. Typical mission is going to pick up a few specific survivors to help build the base (Doctors, Shipcrew, etc) or going to defend a specific objective. There are secondary objectives, and the game does a good job of mixing up the mission objectives.

Simply put, this is a great game to sit back and relax with, slamming into a billion zombies. I have only played the Campaign so far, but there is two additional modes to the game! Really excited to dive in further. Absolutely worth the price paid.

TLDR; Fantastic fun arcade driver game, in the vein of Carmageedon and others. Splatter zombies, equip and upgrade vehicles. 8/10
