Thomas Was Alone, and then, Well, he Wasn't.

Thomas Was Alone is an indie minimalist 2D platformer about friendship and jumping and floating and anti-gravity. Guide a group of rectangles through a series of obstacles, using their different skills together to get to the end of each environment.
Listen to awesome music by David Housden. Jump over rectangles meticulously placed by Mike Bithell. Listen to voiceover read wistfully and a bit amusingly by Danny Wallace.


Thomas Was Alone tells the story of the world's first sentient AIs, and how they worked together to, well, not escape: Escape is a strong word. 'Emerge' might be better. 'Emerge' has an air of importance about it, while keeping the myriad plot twists and superhero origin stories you'll discover under wraps. We didn't even mention the bouncing. That'd be overkill.

Eis aqui uma narrativa sobre a eterna busca por um lugar no mundo. E, como a dinâmica do jogo demonstra, tudo fica mais fácil para nós e para as pessoas ao nosso redor quando não somos egocêntricos e irracionais. Este é um ótimo jogo com reflexões prazerosamente intermináveis.

Ok, é um jogo antigo.. eu sei, mas como estudante de Jogos Digitais, eu gostaria de deixar minha opinião sobre o game.
Thomas Was Alone é um tapa na cara de quem diz que a arte de jogo e gráficos é tudo. Eu não digo isso por simplesmente achar legal que tenha quadrados com nomes e estilos diferentes de jogabilidade, mas sim pela dedicação que os desenvolvedores tiveram pra fazer os mapas, a dificuldade moderada do jogo e até mesmo os efeitos de luz (quando aplicadas). A história do jogo é comovente e a voz que narra é do mesmo narrador de The Stanley Parable... tem como ser ruim? Me diverti por curtas três horas e valeu cada centavo. Recomendado!

quando comecei a jogar achei bastante fácil...mas não se engane...quando chega o segundo personagem..a coisa dificulta... excelente jogo,não pense que um retangulo não tem personalidade,pois em thomas was alone eles tem sim! recomendo pegá-lo nesse {LINK REMOVIDO}site:http://goo.gl/RY8waz sai bem rápido em menos de 30 minutos consegui as moedas para pegá-lo.

Um jogo espetacular, porem esperava mais do final.
Vale a pena jogar, mas e importante e prestar atencao na historia, nao jogue so por zerar.
Como disse TotalBiscuit, "Esse jogo faz voce se importar com bloquinhos coloridos porque um britanico fala sobre eles".

THOMAS WAS ALONE - A beautiful, minimalist indie 2D puzzle/platformer.

Score Comment
Graphics 8 Simple but pleasing, using clean lines and shapes to form the game levels. Game Characters are also simple shapes with different colours but are easily identifiable. Background colours and effects have a different pallet for each level. The overall effect is minimalist, stylish and elegant.
Audio 10 Relaxing ambient background music throughout the game and excellent story narration by Danny Wallace (He won a BAFTA for his performance). There really is nothing to fault here.
Gameplay 9 Thomas was alone has simple and intuitive controls that respond well, giving good control of your characters. Levels start simply and get progressively more difficult at a fairly steady rate. I don't ever recall feeling overwhelmed at any point and play remained very enjoyable throughout the game. As you progress the game does a good job of introducing you to new concepts that you need to complete the levels like controlling various elements (doors, gravity, etc) through various pressure and trigger switches. Also as you progress you meet and gain control of other characters (besides Thomas) each of which have their own unique properties and abilities. You will often find that you will need to employ skill & logic as well as a bit of trial and error to successful navigate levels but fortunately the game does not punish you for failing, so play always seems fun.
Story 9 I really didn't expect any kind of story from a puzzle platform game, especially not one where the characters are just little shapes, but despite this what I got was a brilliant one. A delightful little story that builds with each level and makes you really care about what happens to your little shapes. Each one has their own unique characters, fears, desires and personalities. Their struggles to survive and escape the unfair system that imprisons them and which is constantly changing the rules in its efforts to defeat them.
Replayability 6 By the end of the game you will have mastered some pretty advanced skills and will remember many of the puzzles solutions, this makes some of the earlier levels feel very easy. The game is of a fairly good length but because its so enjoyable you will no doubt be left wanting more. There are various steam achievements (small black hollow rectangles) scattered throughout various levels and going back to find these will add to the playtime. Levels are re-playable after you have completed them making it a good game for quick casual play.
Overall
8.5 A little gem of an indie game, charming and enjoyable, it leaves you wanting more - would highly recommend.

This is a platformer/puzzle game. You have to take some blocks (each one with a different color, shape and skill) to their shadows. Some stages are easy, some stages are very hard and some stages are very frustrating. The puzzles are well created and very challenging. The game visuals are great and the gameplay is easy and simple. I believe it's easier using a controller. Great sound effect, music and voice. Really enjoyed this game and hope they do a sequel. Didn't want it to end. I recommend!

I actually passed on this game many times, until a friend recommended it to me. After actually looking into the game a bit more, I realized it was something that would really interest me. When I finally played it, I was pleasantly surprised.

If you like an interesting storyline following unique "characters," puzzle platforming requiring lots of planning, and witty narration, then you will like this game.

1The aesthetics are good - although the characters are simple shapes, the coloring and effects in the background are well-done. The music and sound effects are very nice, adding appropriate vibes to complement the pacing and atmosphere of each level. The narration is very good, and offers the backstory for the characters. If you like storytelling, you may be surprised by how attached you get to simple shapes. The story is also well-written, and each level adds a piece to the puzzle that is the main plot.

The controls are simple and easy to learn, however, mastering the game mechanics can take a while. As you progress through the story, you will meet new shapes - each with their own special ability - and you will have to use each specialty of each shape propely in order to advance to the next level. The learning curve is mostly minimal to moderate - the main difficulty being in how to solve the later puzzles in the game. Later, there are some timing-based puzzles involved. There are usually checkpoints to help you continue on if death in parts of a level is a possibility. I am currently stuck on a level that requires both timing and careful planning = it is the level where Thomas and the green shape must mirror each others paths or else one (or both of them) will "fall" to a bed of spikes and die. It's taking a while mostly because there are no checkpoints and I get impatient if I die before reaching the end portals.

For achievement hunters, this game has fairly easy achievements (most are progression-based), the hardest ones to acquire being the jump count ones; however, you will most likely get all of them through progression in the game.

The puzzles are challenging and increase in difficulty at a reasonable, fair pace. You are also (usually) shown basic concepts for what to do in easier levels before you encounter them again in subsequent levels (with more difficult puzzles). So long as you pay attention to how you are solving each puzzle, you should have little trouble solving each stage. Trial and error also helps a great deal.

Overall, the game adds a nice flavor to puzzle platforming, and projects a minimalist, serene feeling while you play. Puzzle enthusiasts should definitely give this one a try.

I have this game for a while already and always thought it's some kind of boring platform game with retro-stylish graphics. Anyway i had some time few days ago and decided to give it a try. To my surprise, Thomas Was Alone proved to be a great, very addictive and a bit challenging title. It has a lot of nicely prepared levels with tons of smart ideas.

Not too hard, not too easy - level design is perfectly balanced.
I got it from bundle of course, just like most of indie games nowadays (which starts to be "pain-in-the-a*s"), but i
wouldn't hesitate to spend £6 on it.

My rating: 8/10

A solid little puzzler with a great and underplayed narrative.

Highly recommended for people of all ages, who just want to kick back and puzzle their way to freedom.

Playing this with a controller instantly teleported me back to the early 90s sitting in front of the living room tv playing video games. Such a fantastic feeling!

The puzzles within the game are amazing. The different cubes are given names and they have their own abilities that help with solving each puzzle. Also, there is a British narrator for each level. Overall, this is a really amazing game!

Thomas was alone is a fun little game about rectangles. The levels are well made and with an x-box 360 controller the controls works wonderfully (would assume the same goes for keyboard players).

The narrator has a suiting voice and makes you generally root for the little guys.

In my opinion it's a must have for players who love platforming games, unfortunately though the game isn't that long and only took my abour 3 hours to 100% the game, so I would recommend getting it on sale.

This is a game about geometrical coloured shapes, who try to find a meaning to their adventures, and end up forming a gang. It is humoristically narrated by Danny Wallace, who really adds a dimension to the game that manages to make us empathize and feel for these little rectangles and square.

It's a platforming puzzle game, it's very simplistic in nature, but efficient, and the Musical Score by David Housden is beautiful and enhances the game quite a lot.

I enjoyed it.

Even though it has a very simple design and the actual puzzles are pretty easy, I really enjoyed the story that is told.
It may seem like it is just about different coloured shapes, but that isn't entirely true because each of these shapes has its own name and a special ability, which makes them more "human" than just normal shapes (if that makes any sense).

Thomas Was Alone is a great platformer, I liked it.
