New Update 1.2.0 with Lots of New Goodies - Linux Version, Trading Cards & More!

16 december 2013

Additions:
Linux version

Trading cards
Trading Cards: Collect the Legends of Cargo Corp - including the card for the oldest working employee, and cards of commanders who have been lost to history.

Weekly Struggle mode
Join other Cargo Commanders in a battle for highscores in a weekly changing sector, but be aware: you have only one try each week!

Holiday Theme
The Christmas theme (visuals and music, as previous year) will be active from 15th to 31st of december. Enjoy the bluest holiday tune ever!

Small changes:
- .ogg and .wav music files playable in Home Container (needs Maintenance Panel upgrade), by copying them in Playlist folder
- encounter more player corpses (especially in popular sectors)
- 'Retrieve Parcel' button now hidden when all parcels are collected (instead of visible but always too expensive)
- 'I Surely Hope' also playable in Home Container outside the Christmas theme (needs Maintenance Panel upgrade)
- find postcards a bit more often
- added command line opties: -width xxx -height xxx -full/-window
- lower amount of flying pieces of paper on lower quality settings
- improved controller support: 'set controls' menu detects more gamepad buttons and includes a right stick aiming alternative

Bug fixes:
- home container no longer gets repaired when turning on/off radio
- another try at squashing the non-reproducible player-stays-red bug
- steam plugin replaced by a hopefully more stable one
- postcards now work in Journey mode too
- hidden cargo doesn't spawn texts anymore
- button highlight fixed in Journey mode sector list
- fixed a bug with unpick-up-able cargo crates in certain rare sectors

I love this game, there is a subtle story and when I got to the end of the game I felt happy to have bought this game. also love the card system, always looked foward to finding a post card from another player or to leave one for others to find.

LOTS OF WORDS AHEAD. TAKE THIS -> *Reading Skills*: Cargo Commander is a 2D Shoot em up, Collect em up (If thats a thing) Platformer. What you first notice about the game is it's very Retro-Style graphics. In Cargo Commander, you play as a lonely man sent out to space to collect cargo in your cozy Home Container which has everything you need, inluding a maintenance system, and sector navigator, and console for all your information, a magnet that will pull cargo containers towards you, and COFEE. Every undiscovered piece of Cargo collected will progress you to your next level, which unlocks cool things such as a improvements to your home and your suit, and even a new mode. A very unique thing about Cargo Commander is your drill, available to your disposal at any time. With this tool, you can drill through almost any wall, ceiling or floor, and you can upgrade it to increase its speed. This allows you to modify routes inside randomly generated cargo boxes that fly at you from your (very powerful) magnet, so you can get cargo easier. Another cool thing is it's upgrade system. In level 2, you get an upgrade table in your Home Box thing which allows you to upgrade things such as your drill, ammo, suit etc. Every upgrade you get lasts only for one day, which ends either manually, or when you die, and when it does, all your collected cargo is counted. To be able to upload your cargo, you need to be at your home with all the cargo collected for the specific wave, because if you die, all the cargo you collected after leaving your home will be lost. There are also 3 types of cargo rarities. There's Common, Rare and Ultra-Rare, and each of these give you more XP. Enemies drop caps which are points you spend to upgrade things. Every upgrade costs a specicfic amount of caps, so spend wisely. In every "Sector" you visit, there is a sector pass. A Sector Pass allows you to unlock new sectors at a machine called the Navigator, inside your home. Every sector isnt different at all, it just features a different leaderboards and a new sector. If you have surpassed a player in a leaderboard, you will be able to see the player's dead body in a random cargo box, where he died. You can loot this body for caps, and ammo for the 5 unique weapons featured in this game. I'm done my "Review" but there are many more features to this game I didn't discuss. For a platformere fan I'd rate this a 9/10 and for a guy who hasnt played many platformers, maybe a 7 or 8/10. This is a very worthy buy and I dont feel a single cent wasted.

This is, quite possibly, the best game I have ever played. I love the gameplay, the feeling of being alone in space, AND THE MUSIC! Man, the music... It's just... Destructable enviroments, upgrades, the concept, weapons... It's 177% worth buying while it's on sale.

Surprisingly addictive, Very original game. Roguelike 2D action shooter, challenging at times, public world toplists, good bit of comedy thrown in.

LOVE IT.

One awesome indie game, it's one of those games where you always come back to play another round just to complete all of the items so you can return home or just to be the "king" of the sector(s), even with the goofy gameplay and artstyle it has some deep meaning with the letters that you recieve from your family or from others cargo commander.
