Kerbal Space Program patch 1.1.3 is now available!

Hello everyone!

The 1.1.3 patch is now available! We’ve taken our time over the past couple of weeks to tackle as many issues as we could in this patch and the results speak for themselves: close to 100 fixes have been logged compared to the previous version of KSP, and we even found time to hide something small in the game that we’re sure a lot of long time fans will appreciate!

Check out the full changelog at our Forums.

Hello everyone!

We noticed a number of issues persisted through the 1.1.1 patch earlier this week. We’re releasing patch 1.1.2 to address these issues before we head off to a long overdue vacation for the next couple of weeks. Patch 1.1.2 addresses issues with the user interface and landing legs, amongst others.

About This Game

In KSP you must build a space-worthy craft, capable of flying its crew out into space without killing them. At your disposal is a collection of parts, which must be assembled to create a functional ship. Each part has its own function and will affect the way a ship flies (or doesn't). So strap yourself in, and get ready to try some Rocket Science!

The game offers three gameplay modes: Sandbox, in which you are free to build anything you can think of; Science Mode, which lets you perform Scientific experiments to advance the knowledge of Kerbalkind and further the available technology; and Career Mode, in which you must manage every aspect of your Space Program, including administration strategies, Crew Management, Reputation, as well as taking up Contracts to earn Funds and upgrade your Space Center Facilities (or repair them).

Add to this the ability to capture asteroids (a feature done in collaboration with NASA), Mining for resources out across the furthest reaches of the Solar System, Constructing Bases and Space Stations in and around other worlds; plus literally thousands of mods from a huge active modding community, all add up into the award-winning game that has taken the space sim genre by storm.

Key Features

  • The Vehicle Assembly Building and the Space Plane Hangar allows players to build spacecraft out of any imaginable combination of parts.
  • Fully-fledged, Physics-based Space Flight Simulation ensures everything will fly (and crash) as it should.
  • Take your Kerbal crew out of the ship and do Extra Vehicular Activities.
  • Fly out to Moons and other Planets.
  • Procedural Terrain delivers detailed terrain at a vast scale. The Kerbal Planet is 600km in radius!
  • Mod-enabled, allows players to create new content and modify the game.
  • Ship systems. Keep an eye out for engine temperatures and fuel levels, and try not to explode.
  • Build ships with multiple stages, and jettison parts away as they burn out.
  • Full control over the ship’s setup allows for complex ships and advanced functionality.
  • Dock spacecraft together to build Space Stations, Massive Starships, or even surface bases on other worlds.
  • Manage your crewmembers, hire them, and send them out into space and make them into heroes.
  • Research and Develop new technologies to advance your Space Program.
  • Take on Missions to attract interest in your Space Program.
  • Discover new worlds and expand the scientific knowledge of Kerbalkind.
  • Extract valuable resources from all over the solar system.
  • And a whole lot more!

This game is god's gift to gamers. If you've seriously never tried it then you owe it to yourself and your intellect to get it. Master it. Get to the moon, hell get to Mars (or Duna as it's called in game). Master this game and you will know everything you need to know about rocket science. It's really really awesome.

Whilst attempting to send a small communications satellite into orbit, I found a miscalculation in my estimate. I accidently went to Minimus. In that one small trip, I went into orbit of:

Kerbin (Obviously)

10/10 would miscalculate again.

With 80 hours invested into this game I can safely say it's amazing!

KSP is an open sandbox space exploration simulator. Your role is a director that oversee the whole operation from fund management, hiring test dum- qualified astronauts, and building your ship design to hopefully reach space and beyond.

Story wise this game doesn't have one. They career mode which is decent but it requires alot of grinding to unlock technology to advance your ship. As of my review this game has plenty of content but not enough interactive options. Such as my kerbals stats didn't much at all, no recoloring, or real purpose of exploration other then saying you did

What this game lack is backed by a healthy molding community that put a sense of purpose to explore for resource, new ship design and energy source, and weapons!

This game is abut trail and error. One mistake can cost a whole mission and most of my botch up mission ended a satisfying ball of fire and explosion.

Easy setup and understand
Extreme replay value
Constant updates
Exploration is satisfying
Healthy molding community

Planet exploration has no real purpose without mods
Lack of customization other then ships

Pick up this game now, it is worth it at full price. This game to me spawn the whole idea of vehicle biudiling simulator with a purpose or mission.

MSRP: $39.99
Recommend Pick up Price: $39.99, and donate to Development!

Flipping awesome! Fun to play online, and fun to play when your internet is being a ♥♥♥♥♥♥. On a scale of awesomeness ranging from annoying hangnails to actually going to space, it scores a landing on Mars. Thanks for the great game!

This is absolutely the best game I've ever played. Even when some version unearths the Kraken, or when Squad messes up the wheels, or when all of my mods break because they released an update, this game keeps me coming back for more. After mastering the basics, I randomly stumbled across pyramids in the Kerbin desert returning home from a mission - then I realized how many of these little secrets are around and set out to visit them all across the solar system. Buy this game. May the deltaV be with you.

So i told myself when i reached 100 hours on this game i would write a review. Well, here i am.

So i got this game around summmer 2015, after wanting it for a long time.
The game had just left early access and was in beta. (I just want to point out that i am very attatched to this game)
I adore this game. Most of my summer was spent playing this. (Before you say that isn't possible, i would like to point out my hours didn't add up as I ran the game from the .exe rather than steam.)

I would, and have, recommend this game to anyone who enjoys the feel of success, science, exploration, engineering, space, cute green creatures who you shall become the merciless god of as you stack them on top of each-other and use them as landing gear.

The only slightly bad thing about this game is the learning curve. I know the 1.1 update added loads of tutorials, 'cuz the old ones were exeedingly bad, but you will spend around 5 - 10 hours before you can do anything useful. Needless to say though it is worth it, and soon you will conquer the solar system!

Or, y'know, just abuse the various bugs the game has... that's cool....

Anyway, thanks for reading this review. If it helps someone buy the game, or spread the word, or anything, then i'm glad.

This is one of my favourite games. Its simply amazing.

KSP is walking the fine line between a space sciency simulation and a comicly slapstick just for fun and giggles game.

Its harsh and unforgiving in the beginning, expecting you to know about the basic science of rocketry or fail over and over until you get it on your own. (Watch ScottManley tutorials if you want a head start)
I had trouble in the beginning even getting into orbit around the planet (or keeping my rocket upright on the way there) - but now I am planing missions to other planets, landing and returning - sending unmanned rovers to explore - or even bringing asteroids back home.

800 hours in and I feel like I am still just at the beginning.

»Mün or bust« - unknown (prob. Jebediah Kerman or KurtJMac)

What starts out as a simple, often hilarious; almost lego-like rocket/spaceplane builder has an astounding depth when you look into the possibilities.

The game features a great incentive for advancing your ambitions, science. Science is spent on new technology and parts for bolder missions, and is earned by pushing your boundaries. First, you can explore around you. Take samples, and crew reports from your cute crew of little green simpletons, then maybe you take a simple rocket to outer atmosphere for the first time, take a crew report and get home alive with a nifty parachute.. and Bam! More science. A new part, and the plot thickens..

KSP begins as a goofy tinkering tool with rockets and develops into a full-blown space exploration and research SIM.
Getting a rock sample from the moon may be one of your hardest gaming achievements, as it was for me, but doing it brings reward like little else. The planning, the development and trial/error makes KSP a great learning tool. It's even NASA approved. It uses real world physics and simulated drag for winged aircraft. It uses realistic orbital-mechanics for planitary manuevers, and players use realistic many real-life elements mission planning.

Buy it for your kids, buy it for yourself. They'll enjoy goofing and experimenting; they might even get serious about it. Same goes for you; you will enjoy at least a few experimental flights/missions. Especially if they end in a giant explosion, as many early flights will. After that you might have a success or two, maybe a simple contract or research mission turns out to be easy and you start learning. Soon you'll have dreams of the stars.
