"An excellent indie puzzle game featuring many challenging levels which are neither too easy nor ridiculously hard. Both Funny and melancholic at times."

About This Game

World of Goo is a multiple award winning physics based puzzle / construction game made entirely by two guys. Drag and drop living, squirming, talking, globs of goo to build structures, bridges, cannonballs, zeppelins, and giant tongues. The millions of Goo Balls that live in the beautiful World of Goo are curious to explore - but they don't know that they are in a game, or that they are extremely delicious.
  • Mysterious Levels - Each level is strange and dangerously beautiful, introducing new puzzles, areas, and the creatures that live in them.
  • World of Goo Balls - Along the way, undiscovered new species of Goo Ball, each with unique abilities, come together to ooze through reluctant tales of discovery, love, conspiracy, beauty, electric power, and the third dimension.
  • The Sign Painter - Someone is watching you.
  • World of Goo Corporation - Congratulations! World of Goo Corporation is the Global Leader in Goo and Goo Related Product, including World of Goo Corporation Trademark Brand Soft Drink Beverage and World of Goo Corporation Trademark Brand Facial Exfoliating Lotion. Succulent!
  • Massive Online Competition - Human players around the world compete in a living leaderboard to build the tallest towers of goo in World of Goo Corporation's mysterious sandbox. World of Goo Corporation is contractually obligated to state that everyone is a winner and is enthusiastic to celebrate everyone's tower building opportunities equally.

    Congratulations, and good luck!

"Während es keiner Schwierigkeit unterliegt, jedes physische Erlebnis aus Empfindungen, also psychischen Elementen aufzubauen, ist keine Möglichkeit abzusehen, wie man aus den in der heutigen Physik gebräuchlichen Elementen: Massen und Bewegungen (in ihrer für diese Spezialwissenschaft allein dienlichen Starrheit) irgend ein psychisches Erlebnis darstellen könnte." Ernst Mach. Erkenntnis und Irrtum. p.12

Well, with epigraph like that, I guess I should translate it... In short, Mach - a very famous, genius physicist - thought what it is not possible to see (darstellen) of any psychic experience from common physical elements like movement and masses.

There, in this game, we observe (and sometimes control) movement of masses and surely most of us can see joy in it. I guess that joy is a psychic experience, and of good kind. So I feel sorry Mach can't see this game. It's wonderful.
Pure pleasure, without violence, insolence and repeatability, so common in modern pop culture, and gaming in the first place.

10/10 gooballs. Epic casual game.

While the game is good and fun, the levels ramp up quickly to get to the equivalent of trying to balance an elephant on a piano wire -- it's extremely difficult to figure out exactly where you need to place something to keep the whole thing from falling in on itself. Still a good time, though.

It's a good game. Not a masterpiece, but what's most admirable is the physics programming that went into the game - nothing short of incredible -, and the quirkiness of the game and story as a whole. A lot more fun if you're OCD for completionism. You'll get what I'm saying when you play it.

World of Goo is an addictive and challenging physics-based puzzle game that forces you to think. A powerful message is sent, opening your eyes to the fact that we pollute so much of our Earth just to make useless items because we think they look nice.

In this game, you use your mouse to build structures out of these cute little orbs of muck, called “gooballs”. You have a set goal of gooballs to collect, but it is better if you collect more. For those of you that strive to get high scores in games, the amount of gooballs you got, the time it took to get those gooballs, and the amount of moves you made in order to get said gooballs are shown at the end of the level. There is also a sandbox mode where you can compete with others all around the world in order to try to build the tallest goo towers. I, personally, find this mode to be sort of boring, but there are others out there who I know love it and have a lot of fun with it.

The graphics in this game are very good, and unless you have an extremely old computer or video accelerator, it doesn’t lag at all. The art style is very attractive, and each level has a different look to it. There are also many different “species” of gooballs to discover as you play the game. Both of these things provide for a spectrum of colours and designs to keep the game exciting and new.

To accompany all of these things, Kyle Gabler created a stellar soundtrack for the game. Every track on the soundtrack is beautiful, and the artist even included notes for his inspirations and ideas for many of the tracks, found on this website: http://kylegabler.com/WorldOfGooSoundtrack/.

Overall:

Pros:
-Addictive
-Challenging
-Has a message
-Good graphics
-Doesn’t lag
-Cute character/stage art
-Gorgeous soundtrack

Cons:
-Sandbox mode can be boring

Scores:
Gameplay: 8/10
Soundtrack: 10/10
Style: 9/10
Graphics: 10/10
Attractiveness: 9/10
Overall: 9.5/10

This Game is really fun, creative, and gets me thinking. I played through it pretty fast, but was very fun. I'll keep playing this game, although, it will never be quiet as fun as my first run-through. It is very addictive, and sometimes a little frustrating (although that might just be me because I'm not too good at this stuff). I do recommend this game, I think it is very unique game, and is really fun.

A tedious and boring game on top of one of the worst ports i've seen in a while.

I had to alter the config file to even get the game to launch properly because of a known issue with dual screen set ups.

The game itself is a physics based 'puzzle' game (and I use the term puzzle lightly here) that feels like a flash game you would find for free on Newgrounds and the like. If the concept interests you I would pick it up on a 99 cent sale. Otherwise, stay away.
