"An excellent indie puzzle game featuring many challenging levels which are neither too easy nor ridiculously hard. Both Funny and melancholic at times."

By far, my very favorite game, even though I'm not a fan of indie games in general.

This game is really charming as hell, you start off around some neat hills map where you get to know what this game is about: building. Building up, left, right, down, DOESN'T MATTER. The graphics looks really cute, even though, minimalistic, the sound, the sound is a ♥♥♥♥ing masterpiece, the very best original soundtrack I've heard in my life, every track if filled up with emotions, the author of these (Kyle Gabler) did a great job.

The physics of this game is yet another thing. This is A THING. As you're supposed to build in this game, the main role physics does play. It is just plain immaculate, you won't get disappointed. Yeah, for kids who haven't studied it yet it might be pretty difficult, but if you got some knowledge in that, you can beat it. But, again, you'll have to think.

The whole story looks pretty simple at first: balls sucked by a pipe, wow. But the deeper you dig in the game, the greater the actual plot is, it is full of allegories, metaphors and what not. In the end, it reflects our reality, which is 2D Boy's major feature - a simple childish game with deep sense. No spoilers, of course.

This game makes you think. This game makes you feel. This game lets you be creative. This game is awesome. In my opinion, everyone should play it at least once.

"Während es keiner Schwierigkeit unterliegt, jedes physische Erlebnis aus Empfindungen, also psychischen Elementen aufzubauen, ist keine Möglichkeit abzusehen, wie man aus den in der heutigen Physik gebräuchlichen Elementen: Massen und Bewegungen (in ihrer für diese Spezialwissenschaft allein dienlichen Starrheit) irgend ein psychisches Erlebnis darstellen könnte." Ernst Mach. Erkenntnis und Irrtum. p.12

Well, with epigraph like that, I guess I should translate it... In short, Mach - a very famous, genius physicist - thought what it is not possible to see (darstellen) of any psychic experience from common physical elements like movement and masses.

There, in this game, we observe (and sometimes control) movement of masses and surely most of us can see joy in it. I guess that joy is a psychic experience, and of good kind. So I feel sorry Mach can't see this game. It's wonderful.
Pure pleasure, without violence, insolence and repeatability, so common in modern pop culture, and gaming in the first place.

10/10 gooballs. Epic casual game.

Surprisingly simple gameplay mechanics become unexpectedly elaborate. The gameplay design, artistic direction, musical score are all top notch and you will be hard pressed to find other games of its quality. Story is not a focal point, but even that is well done in a low key manner with some cool twists. Suprisingly cheap ($1.49) for one of the best gaming experiences you will have. After reading this, the word surprise in relation to this game should not be in your vocabulary. Buy the game. Currently, the game is worth it regardless of whatever price it is set at now.

World of Goo is a puzzle game all based in physics where the goal is to build/construct different apparatuses with wobbly black balls of goo that you have to catch while they are rolling around on what ever it is you are trying to accomplish.... You have to build these apparatuses in order to get to "the pipe system" so the leftover goo balls you didn't use to get to the pipe can be be sucked up. This is the levels/score part of the game. Each level you are required to suck up so many goo balls in order to advance to the next level. This has always been a very fun game.... simple and casual play .... worth a look.

This is the definitive game about goo, for goo lovers and goo sympathizers. One of the best experiences with goo physics you will ever have. But the one thing that chocked me was about beauty. That part where you have to kill the ugly to save the beauties… All pollution and violence we create to produce useless beauty goo.

A beautiful and enchanting soundtrack, ingenous and unique gameplay, a lovely artstyle and a story that surprises, entrances and invokes a vast array of emotions are just some of the things that make this game so great.

If you havn't already played it, pick it up as it's a gem of a game, one which has stayed with me, and one which I hope stays with you.

Little Inferno, by the same developer, is another great mention, and if you liked this at all you'll certainly like it too.

A note on my hours played: I played and finished this long before I purchased it on Steam.

Played through the whole game about 1,258 times on WiiWare, iPhone and Android. Why? Because it's the dog's ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ (i.e. very good). World of Goo boasts a delicious art direction, a ridiculously good soundtrack, a surplus of clever & surprising ideas, constantly evolving gameplay, hilarious satirical humour and an incredibly well-written and well-thought-out story.
The game is also technically impressive, with mighty good physics to support the clever puzzles and fabulous optimization that makes everything run better than diarrhoea. It's also surprisingly atmospheric and even thought provoking at times.
One of the best games ever. 10/10, would bang, etc.

Pre-Release Review
This is one of those rare games where you actaully have to use a greater capacity of your brain (in critical thinking and problem solving) to get to the next level and actaully have fun doing it.

Where to start with this...
I originally played this on a Powermac G5 when it first came out around the end of 2008, I remember that I originally got it sometime around the 2008 election. My attention was focused on this game the whole time.

It's one of those games where it seems extremely simple at first, but then the complexities and depth of it gradually shine through. The puzzles are neat, and I never had to use any skips until the last part (and I normally sucka t puzzles) but they don't feel easy, they feel satisfying regardless.

The visuals are nice, and they're crisp and good looking, and most importantly they do NOT resort to trying to look like pixel art. However, the game does run at a low resolution and there is no way to change it.

The soundtrack... Well, let's just say it's one of the best soundtracks in an Indie game ever produced. It is well performed, it is entirely originally composed, and it doesn't resort to sounding like chiptune or 16-bit stuff to try and manipulate nostalgic nerves. One of the best parts of the game for certain, and even better is that all of the soundtrack (the full versions, not the shortened versions in the game) can be found right on Youtube. Very memorable soundtrack, I can say that about very very few games.

Buy it? YES! It's on sale frequently anyways.
