“Grim Dawn’s the action RPG I’ve enjoyed most in quite some time, and I’m very keen to try the later chapters as they’re released. More so than Torchlight 2, which was a bit too much of a sugar rush experience for me, and certainly more so than Diablo III”

O tej grze

Enter an apocalyptic fantasy world where humanity is on the brink of extinction, iron is valued above gold and trust is hard earned. This ARPG features complex character development, hundreds of unique items, crafting and quests with choice & consequence.

Key Features

  • Dual Class - Combine any of six distinct classes with over 25 skills and modifiers per class. Base classes include Soldier, Demolitionist, Occultist, Nightblade, Arcanist and Shaman.
  • Hundreds of Item Skills - Augment your class build with a diverse array of over 250 unique skills granted by items and equipment add-ons.
  • Collect hundreds of Items - Common, magical, rare, epic and legendary classes of loot. Plus over 20,000 possible magical affix combinations and over 200 rare affixes.
  • Quests with Choice and Consequence - You will face tough decisions that leave significant impacts upon the world. Strangers on the road, desperate families and even entire villages may live or perish based on your actions. Currently over 35 quests with 75+ lore notes to be collected.
  • Friendly and Enemy Factions - Earn favor with human factions to unlock additional quest lines, vendor discounts and special faction-based items and augments. Some neutral factions you can be turned into allies but aiding one will make the enemy of another. Hostile factions will remember your deeds and deepen their hatred of you, sending out large packs and elite heroes to hunt you down.
  • Devotion, an additional layer of skill customization allows you to acquire bonuses and powerful secondary effects for your class skills. These are unlocked from a giant constellation map with points acquired by finding and restoring destroyed or corrupted shrines hidden throughout the world.
  • Rebuild the World - Help human enclaves survive and flourish by securing vital necessities, rebuilding structures and rescuing survivors who can then lend their services to your cause.
  • 4 Person Multiplayer - Connect with Friends or make new allies in glorious multiplayer. Multiplayer encounters will put your teamwork to the ultimate challenge.
  • Fast-paced Visceral Combat - Enemy blood spatters, ragdoll physics and satisfying enemy death effects. Smash in doors and fight house to house, leaving a path of demolished furniture in your wake.
  • Rotatable Camera - If you choose to survey the full beauty of the world and always fight from the most optimal angle. Levels are still designed so that players are not forced to rotate the camera; it is purely optional.
  • Secrets and Perils Abound - 200+ Enemy heroes and bosses, hand-configured with their own unique arrays of deadly skills. 20+ secret areas hidden behind crumbling walls, hidden gaps and mysterious locked doors. Explode obstacles or repair structures to open new paths.
  • Rogue-Like Dungeons - Descend into special locked challenge dungeons that require a rare crafted key, where enemy levels increase as you progress and player teleport is disabled. There is no way out except to complete the dungeon or die trying.
  • Dynamic Weather - The world is brought to life with region-specific climates and a variety of weather effects. A sunny day can cloud over with mild rain showers that builds into a booming thunderstorm. Variable wind gusts blow grass and affect objects like windmills.
  • Recipe Based Crafting - Collect over 250 crafting recipes that allow you to combine salvaged components into unique crafted items and then, later, use those basic crafted items with higher-tiered recipes to complete items of amazing power.
  • Reclaim Skill Points - The ability to pay to reclaim points alleviates the fear and frustration of having to make early, uninformed skill choices that could permanently gimp a character.

If you thought diablo 3 didn't have enough depth and that Path of Exile was just too long/too much of a time sync, then you will likely enjoy Grim Dawn. Be prepared to bookmark a ton of builds and geek out on how much depth this AAA quality title has to offer. One of the better arpgs i've played in a looooong time.

Highly recommended

Ahhhhh Grim Dawn,

What can I say about this amazing game that has NOT been said before, very little.

The game is akin to Diablo II according to players who are in the know, I am not one of them since this is actually my very first aRPG that has made me play it for more then 50 hours.

The game has gotten a few updates, the last one made it possible to use and create mods. I will talk more of MODS later.

The game has one of the most immersive world creations in my humble opinion. The world you play in can more or less be compared to one of my other fav games "Borderlands 2". When you start out as a scrub of level 1 you can NOT choose any class. As soon as you level up (rather fast all things concidered) you may choose a class to play as.
Classes included are Soldier / Demolist / Occulist / Shaman and so on.
When you reach level 10 you can choose a second class and this is what makes the building so much fun. Each class has a masteriebar (up to level 50 per class) and a skill bar. If you put points into masteries you can unlock the end skill for each class.

Enough of that technical babble (I will put links below so you can better understand what I am so badly explaining)

When you first start a hero you will ALWAYS begin at normal difficulty or normal / veteran difficulty. The latter one gives more mobs and more XP and loot. I recommend using Normal / Veteran,
When you finish the game on Normal you can unlock the Elite dificulty (for DD players, this is the Insane dificulty). When you finish Elite you will unlock Ultimate dificulty, this is the hardest dificulty the game has to offer (for DD players, this is NM Difficulty)
The higher the dificulty the more important the resistances will become (I wish you could put screenshots here). There are several that are incorperated here (Fire/Ice/Freeze/Slow/Poison/Aether/Chaos) and so on and on. you should strife for a resists of around 80 percent or above (if you can) for the most important ones.

This game is all about loot, there is a lot of loot, annoyingly so it seems when you first start the game. What is important to know is that in normal/veteran, the pieces you find, aren't that good. The good pieces start to drop around level 50 when you will also get your first legendary loot when you finish the game.

You can also craft materials to suplemnt your build, some may give you extra damage, or more resists or even extra skills that you put on your skillbar. This is an important part of your build. This game isn't easy for a scrub like me, my first hero that I created (demolist/shaman) has more than 300 deaths to his sorry ♥♥♥ name. I blame him and not me :)

MODS

With the latest update they introduced the ability to create mods, the workshop is NOT available, you must create a folder in the games directory (main) named "MODS" duh and put the mods in this directory. I will put a link to the website of crate below.

As of now the mods are pouring out and are very nice, I HIGHLY recommend Davoods DAIL mod because he incorperates all the best mods available (endless waves like in Diablo 3, new classes, higher masteriesbar up to level 100, and so on and on and on.

Website of the cool guys of Crate.

This is the link where you can download the mods, plain and simple.

To end the crappy wall of text I wish to thank the guys of Crate for creating this amazing game.

You hear an alarm beeping, startling you away from your screen. You turn around and stare at the neon letters on the clock. It's 5:30AM. Birds chirp outside and the tentative first rays of sunshine creep through the gaps in your curtains. You've spent an entire weekend slaying hellbeasts from beyond the void and now you only have an hour to get ready for work. You haven't slept.
That's Grim Dawn.

I wanted to write my review when my Hardcore character dies, but he's still going strong and I'm about to reach the max level. Anyways, this game has all the best elements of an old-school aRPG game, with some new mechanics to keep it fresh. The environment is interesting, the classes are fairly archetypal but with a nice spin, and the hunt for loot keeps me excited. I liked the story, it kept me immersed and was my main incentive to finish the game. The graphics are very good - not amazing, but authentic for the type of game. Not cartoonish at all. The pace is great and there's enough play diversity to offer plenty of replayability. It's a great mix of challenge and depth - this game was obviously made with a lot of love! http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=635841522 http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=706779614

Think about a post apocalyptic world, but not the usual "Mad max" or "Fallout" ones. More the "Diablo won this one".
Take basic archetypes. Mage, Druid, Warrior ... And mix them as you want !

Finish the game once. That was tough ? YOU KNOW NOTHING JOHN SNOW !

This game truly shines when you start looking at the depth of its gameplay and possibilities. Each dual archetype have multiple builds. Some are very laid back (hello Occultist summoner build, aka "Pokemon master build") some are way more active and hard to master.

Another big plus ? MODS !

Another thing ? Additional content with free update !

Trust me, an anonymous stranger in the crowd. It's a "Good ol' game like we don't get anymo'e"

I hesitate to make quite so blanket a statement as “this is the Diablo III that many Diablo II fans wanted”, both because there are key ways in which it’s not and because I can’t speak for people who’ve spent years memorising loot tables and now expect very specific things. However…Grim Dawn is a huge and slick affair which clings tight to a doomy tone, eschews online funny business and is careful to keep lore overload at arm’s length. A lack of overblown cutscenes aside, you’d never guess that it was made comparatively under the radar and on surely a fraction of Diablo III’s budget.
The Titan Quest (with which it shares several developers) influence is as strong as that of Diablo, though sadly the Harryhausen monster aesthetic wasn’t retained. We don’t get many tottering skeletons or screeching harpies, but both loot and powers ramp up dramatically quickly. It’s rarely a question of if a murdered monster will drop anything, and more how the hell you’re going to fit it all in your bags. The same excess extends to the many and often wildly over the top powers. Grim Dawn, despite the downbeat title, is determined to make you feel good. It’ll keep you busy for a long damn time too, even if you only play it once – though, of course, for many there’ll be later playthroughs in co-op or at unlockable higher difficulties. I think it’s the desire to be the spiritual sequel to Diablo II which holds me back from heaping breathless praise on Grim Dawn, though. The need to be grim first and foremost forbids a clear personality from shining through, and the result is that I’m not sure how to finish a sentence which begins “Grim Dawn is that game where…”
Well, other than “…I'm having a better time than I did in Diablo III”, anyway.

**Note : This is going to a very detailed and lenghty review , so I will put a TLDR at the end of this review.

Grim Dawn is an isometric ARPG made by Crate. I first bought this game on my other account back in 2015 while it was still in closed beta. From all the ARPGs I have played, mainly D2 & 3, Van Hellsing, TL2, Grim Dawn stood out as one of the best ARPGs I have played in my entire life.

Grim Dawn offers a dark atmospheric world where iron bits are worth more than gold, which is why that is the main currency here. The graphics are amazing. Dead bodies hanging from trees? Checked. Blood and gore? Check. Amazing spells? Checked.

Here are the pros and cons I feel about this game.

Pros : - Items have skills that can be utilised all the way to late game.
- Awesome soundtrack. Really fits the dark and grimy atmosphere.
- Amazing art and graphics.
- Build optimization. You can build your character revolving around your skills, certain items or your devotion
system. ( A special system where you unlock by slowly restoring shrines in the world. )
- Devotion system actually have interesting concepts. Much like the skill tree of Path of Exile, but instead of
adding stats, there are skills and passive skills you can unlock.
- Dedicated developers. They delivered as promised during their kickstarter journey and made every cent
worthwhile.
- Incredible storyline. Amazing nuff said. Scattered around the world are mysterious journal and notes where you
can collect and gain insight and deepen the lore and plot of the game.
- Did I mention dual class systems?
- ♥♥♥♥ ton of secret areas. Omg.

Alright, before ya'll get your pickforks and start calling me out for giving only positive reviews, here are some cons I felt the game had.

Cons : - Confusing for new players. There are many aspects in the game that require attention to. Physical damage,
pierce damage etc. There are too many elements and might be confusing for starter players.

- Voice acting. There are only few voice dialogues in the game. Actually understandable because the Crate team
isn't huge and implementing voice dialogues might be a little too taxing and delay updates.

- New content. They recently released a new content which is great, however new content can be a little slow as
mentioned, they lack manpower.

-Character customization. You can't customers your characters face etc.

All in all, this game is amazing. I bought one during early access and bought another one for my girlfriend to play. This game does not provide DLCs so the only way I feel I could contribute back to the developers is to get more copies.
In all seriousness, this game is amazing. Get it if you haven't already.

TLDR; get the game. It will make you understand the spirit of ARPG.

This is a fantastic game. I love arpg's and this one tops them all. I am a casual gamer that is super picky. I play one out of a hundred good games that come along. This game has it all- fantastic loot (though it could hugely benefit from a smart loot system), very satisfying leveling and a deceptively complex character build system. The bosses have clear required strategies and the regular mobs are fun to kill; it doesn't easily get boring. Either way, I Just wanted to show my support for such a great game. Oh, and it's an indie title, go figure,

Cons:
Some animations are not aweasome but they are ok.
When you move your camera is hoppering sometimes

As an avid fan of the ARPG genre, Grim Dawn gets a very glowing recommendation from me. What sets it apart from other games in the same genre is the amount of freedom and customization you have in regards to your character. The skill trees, like in Titan Quest, offer a lot of skills and ways to customize said skills. You put points into the tree and unlock different tiers of powers. Additionally, at level 10 you can pick a second skill tree which opens things up even more. If that wasn't enough, you find shrines throughout the game you can give offerings to in order to cleanse it. Once that's done, you can put a point into one of a TON of different constellations under what's called the "devotion" panel. They offer different bonuses to even further enhance your character. Other than that, it's an ARPG. There's not much more to be said. The thing is, Crate Entertainment got it absolutely right. It's a wonderfully fun, lengthy romp in a beautifully desecrated land. I love this game and hope others will feel the same way about it. An absolute blast!
