one night I took some mdma and went to a burger king, ended up trying (and failing) to finish the puzzles on the child placemats

basically the same thing

there are colours and nothing is actual physics and you get guns like portal but then there's real physics and eyes and secrets and by the end of it i just cried until the police found me in the corner of that burger king

This game was amazing. I've done maybe 5 playthroughs even though it starts losing replayability after the second or third time. It's fun just to run through it every year or so. It's still way fun to let friends play through it. It really scratches the creativity itch.
10/10 would recommend.

It's like trying to solve a 6X6 rubic's cube without instructions. I haven't beat it, I refuse to use guides. It challenges my intellect, problem solving, and creativity in every way, and I love it to death.

I've no idea what actually went on in this game...

So, you are this little "The Cube" like lab rat and have to find a way through the mace to escape. You got a series of "guns" you have to find in order to get more abilities, like duplicating blocks or moving blocks, which is the time consuming part.

Once you got the last gun you can use the hidden exits to get to the end. The thing about this is that your straight forward thinking won't work here. Sometimes you have to look at something to turn it on. Sometimes you must not look at all.

You get absolutely no hint about what you have to do, except the name of the room, maybe.

All in all my brain hurts now... Completion time way too long with about 4 hours.

This game is amazing. It uses frustration to force you to think "outside the box". I know people nowadays love to call games like dear esther and thirty flights of loving an "expierience". But this game really is.
If you manage to forget what you know about game mechanics and if you are able to overcome a bit of frustration. You will be stunned how clever this game really is. There will be moments where you feel like a cheater because you think you "tricked" the game just to realize a few moments later that this actually was the way it meant to be done.
It is genius.

WARNING: Do yourself a favor and avoid all kind of spoilers. Even avoid gameplay videos becasue they might spoil you some mechanics you should (in my opinion) discover by yourself.

This game is ♥♥♥♥ing fantastic.
PROS:
Puzzles are interesting, and challanging, no other game like it.
Music and ambience are top quality, you really lose yourself in this game.
Visuals are simple, but polished and easy on the eyes.
This ♥♥♥♥ is LOOONG, I've only beat the game once, it shows 7.5 hours on record, and while it may not seem like a long time in comparison to other games on steam, when that time is spent on puzzles it feels way longer.

CONS:
Graphics are a bit "low quality" and too pixelated in my opinion. Some smoother transitions when blocks materialize would improve the game tons.
The puzzles switched from being logic based, to block puzzles, which kinda dissapointed me.

The games good, you should buy it. Especially on a sale day.

Very engaging and puzzling game with very unique looking visuals. I had a lot of fun playing this; it had quite a few unexpected twists, and whilst playing the game there were very accomplishing moments, as there is quite a bit to keep on top of to get through levels, and so Antichamber proves to be a good challenge, with a few bursts of rage here and there.

I can't really think of anything negative to say; however if you are not sure if this game is for you, then it would be great to try to get this game on a steam sale, rather than spending money on something that doesn't appeal to your personal tastes. The game can seem to come to dead-ends at points, and leave you with no idea of how to proceed. In such situations, there are some great walkthrough guides for a last-resort solution.

Hopefully, if you were to buy the game, you wouldn't have to resort to that a lot, otherwise it's not a great investment, and of course, would not bring the full enjoyment of this great game.

It is like learning to walk again. I'm not really sure how to put it. It teaches you mechanics and you have to learn how to apply these to very un-real situations that are, sometimes, mind boggling.

A good game it is, quite innovative and a lot of puzzles really need to think outside of the box. After every single puzzle there will be a meaningful conclusion for the puzzle. But the only problem for this game is that its end is not very good, compared to its process.

Designed to screw with your worldview, Antichamber is one of the best puzzle games I've ever played. This is coming from someone who plays Portal and FEZ.
Cons:
-This isn't too big a complaint, but it would be nice to be able to use a slider to control mouse sensitivity, with a higher cap than the "high" setting. Many of us PC gamers do like that level of sensitivity. No biggie, though.
-I don't know if this does come into play later, but it would be cool to be able to play other environments with, perhaps, different elements or more complex iterations of preexisting elements.
-Again, I don't know if it really does affect gameplay, but the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ countdown timer in the antechamber creates a sense of "I have to hurry" in a player. This would be fine, but might I remind you that this is a puzzle game!
Pros:
-Again, I'll start small. I LOVE the art design in this game. The minimalistic, yet colorful approach enhances the atmosphere stupendously. The same goes for any puzzle game of this style.
-Not many puzzle games allow totally free exploration within its environment (even the amazing Portal), but the best ones usually do. When I think about it specifically, it seems somewhat like the original Zelda: You might be horrifically unequipped to handle what's to come, but give it a shot.
-The mazelike environments very much suit this game.
-This is my biggest praise for the game: overall amazing, interesting, and new design. The puzzles are all challenging, yet seem possible. The main element of the game--a surreal, constantly changing world--is well-implemented, and feels natural. I'll leave you with this: it's different. Different from any game I've ever played. Everything, from the art design to the central mechanics to the level design--is new. I don't want to say too much, for fear of spoiling the experience, but know that this game is fantastic.

I have mixed feelings about this game. While I liked the out of the box thinking required to complete most of the puzzles, I couldn't get passed the feeling that the puzzles were a fair amount of somewhat annoying work for very little reward.

Compare it to something like Portal, which rewards you with a snippet of dialogue or a view of the worldbuilding before giving you another puzzle.

Still an overall positive experience though.

I did not see this game to be as amazing as so many other people seem to have.

The general premise of the game is alright, but not actually that spectacular. The idea of the areas being more open-ended in the sense that you have multiple (sometimes circular or repeatedly dead-end) paths is not necessarily bad, but I feel like it was exhaustively used.

So many people bring up M.C. Escher and talk about this game as being "art", but I never got a feeling of art from it at any point. Really, the game just had 3 styles to it with the rooms, as I went along: simple and obvious puzzles; really confusing ones that took forever to run around over and over; and then other more obvious puzzles that were explicitly tedious (e.g., having to make sure you get some blocks exactly and don't lose them or clip them with the ray gun, otherwise you have to restart the rooms).

And then you had things like the "hints"/messages you come across. Basically, they are taunts from the developer. I never got any sort of emotional reaction out of them as if they were special messages - the majority of them were just some cheesy comment relative to the puzzle you just completed. Very rarely would you see a hint about something you were about to do (or about a split in a path).

I think that most of the game is doable, but is it actually that fun? To me, it really wasn't.

Excellent puzzle game. Haven't enjoyed a puzzle game as much since Portal 2 and the Talos Principle.

The game does not hold your hand quite as much as the above, however. There are some "learning puzzles" and hints, but some of the basic mechanics and moves are left for you to discover. I came across some while fooling around rather randomly, and this can be a source of additional excitement or frustration, depending on how long it takes to discover. If you are stuck, it probably means you have missed something about the mechanics.

On the other hand there are several paths possible which is great since if you are stuck you can simply switch to another puzzle room and avoid getting too frustrated, possibly coming back to it later with a fresher mind or improved knowledge of the mechanics.

Only real downside is that is is fairly short, I finished my first playthorugh in 12 h, so you may want to wait for a sale.

Very original puzzle game. It loves to mess with your perception above all else, things change and defy logic most of the time.

A really cool thing about this game is that every single puzzle translates into some kind of a life lesson or simply motivational quotes. Sometimes the solution will not be hard but will require you do take a different approach, to think outside of the box. Then, the game will re-assess what you did with a little motivational poster that gets put on the wall of the main hub.

The game feels very mysterious and you're not given a lot of explanation. This is not a game that you play to finish. It's a game that you play to sit back, relax and think. There is actually a conclusion to the game (that I absolutely loved) although it only really ends once you run out of rooms to explore.

The game makes impressive use of the Unreal Engine and the environment constantly reacts in ways that you would not expect. It is filled with impossible rooms and patterns and requires a ton of open-minded thinking. Honestly, it can get a bit overwhelming at times. Sometimes you feel clever for solving the puzzles and sometimes you're just completely lost in how not rational things are, although there is always a very methodic way to solve them.

It's also really hard to pick this game back up after not playing for a while. You unlock new mechanics as you progress through the game and not remembering one of them can make solving some puzzles very difficult. Since it's not very long, I would suggest starting over if you haven't played in a while.

As a side note, I was slighlty more disappointed with the game's technical side. Options are embedded inside the game, there are no menus, which is very cool on its own... But because of this, I could not set the resolution past 1920x1200, there was no anti-aliasing (and the aliasing is fairly bad in this game) or any other graphical options. I don't think there are any keybind options either (I believe this can be done through the Ini files). I would definitely have liked a bit more of these options.

I did not go through all the rooms myself and the game lasted me about 4h30 (played a bit offline so maybe add a few hours to that) for about 75-80% completion. I would expect around 3-4 hours more for 100%. It does feel much, much longer than this however, which is not a bad thing. It's a bit expensive at 22$ for that playtime but honestly, I think it's worth it if this is your kind of game.

An unforgettable puzzle game that continually challenges your preconceptions..about everything. With a very steep learning curve, it's definitely a smart game made for smart gamers. The minimalist soundtrack of natural sounds, from bird calls to the crackling of a fireplace, really lulled me into a sense of immersion, curiosity and peacefulness. The art style of Antichamber starkly contrasts the hyperrealism of blockbuster games like Call of Duty: environments are sparse, with deliberate use of color and contours, but very little detail. Furthermore, the few visual cues available serve as hints or teach new game mechanics, even if their meaning is ambiguous at first. What I enjoyed most about Antichamber, after reading several interviews with developer Alexander Bruce, is that the game serves as an allegory for life's vicissitudes - sometimes you're up, and other times, you're down. The cartoon plaques in each of the game's rooms are captioned with pithy quotes (e.g. failing to succeed does not mean failing to progress) that serve not only advise the player about how to solve each puzzle, but also how live more gracefully. A must-play for gamers seeking a cerebral, but rewarding challenge.
