Antichamber is awesome, it doesn't need to be explained.

And the abilities with the cubes increase nicely too.

This is one of the most bizarre puzzle games I've ever played. The puzzles don't always rely on logic, so it requires considerable lateral thinking. I love this game, and I'm really glad I picked it up.

On a side note, I don't know much about programming, but this seems like it had to have been a ♥♥♥♥♥ to do. Bravo.

Excelent puzzles that will make you think in ways you might not expect. They are very challenging so if you aren't prepared to backtrack and spend a good chunk of play time figuring out one puzzle, this game is probably not for you.

Very deep 1'st person puzzle based game with some very interesting ideas. Some puzzles feel a little bit unfair but most are surprising and simple. The complete disregard for conventional Euclidean geometry is exciting to play and can be quite buitiful despite the simple graphics. I recomend reading one of the non spoiler guides after you have played a bit to make sure you are on the right trak.

Annoying to play. I couldn't make heads or tails of what I was supposed to do. I was told it would mess with my head but all it did was irritate me and the pretencious life lessons don't make it any better when seem to be telling me things that don't relate to the problem at hand.

I wish I hadn't bought it.

General Review

Antichamber. In my opinion it's a really great game despite being "simple". But beware because I promise that you are not prepared. Euclidian spaces aren't something that this game knows about. You'll most likely get stuck at least once. The mechanics are easy to understand but quite tricky to use. The ambiance is very relaxing actually, which helps ease your mind, especially when you're not getting the point of the puzzle.

I can't really say there's any sort of pros or cons. You get it, or you don't. But while you progress you'll get a clearer vision of things. Some mechanics will be reused in parts of the map you didn't think you could.
One other great thing is the motivational quotes you can find throughout the map. Getting them all is rather satisfying as well. But they really hint you on what to do sometimes.
One small protest I'd have to make is dev rooms. They're hidden and sometimes impossibly hard to get to. But they also are decoys to where to go next or how to progress, which sucks. If you're going to hide them, sure but regroup them or put them on a special path dedicated to them.

Overall I'd give it 9/10. I mean, it's challenging, it's somewhat relaxing, and helps you develop how you think things.
I've found a "Under Construction"-labelled door. Does that mean something will be added or it's just aesthetic? I sure as hell don't know. Find out yourself while playing the game.

Warning! Normal rules of logic do not apply. Think at your own risk.

But seriously, if you enjoy puzzle games, this is one of the best. It's a puzzle exploration game, that features non-Euclidian 3D space (basically impossible 3D) and it will make you question almost everything that you would take for granted. There are no rules, only guidelines: stairways leading back to the same place, never ending corridors going in circles, appearing and disappearing paths when your attention is elsewhere. Its black and white signs give advice that apply in real life as well. This game requires what some people would call "thinking outside the box". In Antichamber the only box is of your own thinking.

As someone who naturally gets lost all the time, this game makes me feel right at home by making me feel lost in even a straight hallway by violating the laws of reality.

The vibrant color changes can hurt your eyes for a while if you're not used to such things.

In conclusion, I'd judge this game as an excellent first-person puzzle maze game, as well as a getting-lost-walking simulator. Fortunately you're able to teleport to any room you've visited before in case you get stuck (which is bound to happen several times).

Antichamber is this borderline experimental game whose only purpose seems to be frustrating intuition-based efforts, and subverting your understanding of space. And if this opening statement sounds enticing albeit annoyingly vague and unhelpful, then it resonates with the philosophy of Antichamber - where almost nothing is as it seems at first glance. Its deceivingly plain aesthetics conceal a devious challenge that may intrigue the casual onlooker for a short time, but which can only be fully conquered through no small amounts of exploration and experimentation. Sometimes you'll get a glimpse of the cogs turning inside the machine as you follow a certain path and earn your access to an entirely optional area. Oftentimes you'll be stumped, and forced to backtrack and consider a different approach. The fascination of Antichamber is in the mystery of its workings. It's a test of your curiosity, cunning, and perhaps most of all your ability to experience the unforeseen and learn from that experience. In the words of Samuel Beckett: "Ever tried. Ever failed. No matter. Try Again. Fail again. Fail better."

Antichamber may confuse or even frustrate you, but it's never disappointing. It's a mesmerizing, intricate gem of a game.

A minimalistic puzzle game that could be compared to Portal, but really shouldn't.

It stands on its own as a difficult, confusing and excellently brain-bending puzzler that I still have yet to clear.

I wholly and heartily recommend this game. I spent hours playing it, trying to discover as much as I could about it. I really can't say much else, because if I do, I risk spoiling it for you.

Buy it.
Play it.
Love it.
Spread it.

I come back to Antichamber once a year and must have played it to completion four or five times and I cannot recommend it enough.

It's quite unlike anything else I'm aware of and making comparisons with other games won't be that helpful, but it probably wouldn't be too unfair to say if you like first-person puzzle games such as Portal, QUBE, or Quantum Conundrum then you might enjoy Antichamber, and if you're interested in game structure and design you should absolutely check it out.

More than anything else Antichamber represents exceptional design. It's incredibly (even absurdly) minimalist. It's a fascinating example of what happens if you say "what can I do without?". Everything not absolutely necessary to the game has been whittled away; even textures. What you're left with is an experience that's an absolute distillation of a vision.

It's one of my top ten games. Some of the puzzles are super hard and stump me even on the fourth playthrough, but the game is so well structured that you don't end up banging your head against a single thing with nowhere else to go; if you get stuck on one thing you can always go do something else. It's mercilessley logical, though the logic is often nearly impossible to understand, and the satisfaction of figuring out a tough puzzle is immensely gratifying.
