This game is a fresh revision to the world of RTS which has been flooded by the Command and Conquer series which hasn't given us anything new. And lets be honest, Starcraft 2 is the same gameplay it was 10 years ago.
In this game, you get abilities called RUSE, which are abilities you activate such as a spy in an area who will report any enemies he sees in the area. There is the decoy army, which you can say to send a fake air force to fly at the enemy and they will shoot at them. Combine this with your real army, and the enemy wont know the fake units from the real units, thus increasing the survivability of the real units.
Another great aspect of this game is the amount of nations you can be, and how they are all very different from each other. Britain has a good amount of air power, Germany has some of the best anti tank capabilities, the French have some of the best defense structures, and so forth and so forth.
The game doesn't have as much micro managing as other RTSes, but it requires a lot more strategy. It adds a sense of realism in how you would command a military as opposed to just doing rush tactics, which don't work by the way. People who like this are the people who like games like Company of Heroes, and Iron Hearts 3.

I just eradicated a whole town with 100 katyusha's launching about 20 rockets each. And burned the ruins down afterwards. It was amazing, awesome, and scary at the same time.

100000000/5 would destroy and burn again!

This is without a doubt the greatest RTS I have ever played! The main reason for this is the clarity of the gameplay. When you select a unit and hover over the unit you wish to attack it will tell you how risky the attack is. I cannot stress how important this is!!! It means you do not have to learn all of the unit names to know what beats what! On top of this you can then focus more on possitioning of units and hiding them instead of worrying if the unit you are using is good enough! It's a beautiful system!
Granted the late game is all about gettting admin buildings out when you supply routes dry up which means it is a little bit state on the resource management side but it doesn't matter due to the amazing gameplay. I have been playing for well over a year and have never got bored playing against the A.I! There is a very elitest online community with many people kicking you out of games for not being level 100, which most people get from grinding against the A.I!
Appart from that the game is brilliant and I can't recommend it enough!!!!

(20h+ of ps3 RUSE gameplay)

RUSE is a rather unique basebuilding/strategy game. You play with the minds of your foes by tricking and decieving them with different intel and so called ruses. You can decieve an enemy, luring them with decoy units, fake your unit types on the enemy radar, hide your units from enemy sight and much more. Use propoganda to scare away enemies or to rally your troops to fight until the end.

There are tons of unit types at your disposal, ranging from infantry, tanks, aircraft, artillery and prototype weapons. Most units are balanced with both strengths and weaknesses that you can abuse for your advantage on the battlefield.

My only problem with the game is that the resources on the map eventually runs out, so slows down long games unless you have prepared with an armada of expensive money generating buildings.

Pro:
- Really interesting ruse mechanics and intel management.
- Unit variety
- Huge battlefields & maps

Con:
- Long battles turns quite hard to finish
- Bit lacking in building variety

Good fun with friends and randoms, a true test of skill in multiplayer plus a fun campaign.

10/10 would use 500 katushwas to destroy one GI unit again

A game to play when you're bored.

tbh i expected more from this game, A major being in a charge of 2 units? that sounds more like squad leader, a sergeant.
There are more advanced strategy games like Total War series, etc. I know it's a different time, different war but, they make you feel really in charge.

Allthough, if you don't want to be dragged into game, just kill 1 hour in fun, this game is recommended

This is one of the greats in the RTS genre, demonstrating REAL tactics used in WWII that so many other games seem to forget. Things like camoflauge, going radio silent, decoy units and structures are all just a few of the Ruses that you can employ unto your enemy.

Intel is at the heart of this game. Without it, you're as good as dead, and if you can destroy your enemy's intel-gathering units, you can easily initiate a surprise attack, and they'd have no way of knowing.

The diversity of units schocked me. Every type of unit you'd expect to see is here, along with things called Prototypes, various weapons of war that were not widespread enough to see action in most other WWII games. Things like the PzKpfw VIII Maus tank, the 155mm Long Tom artillery piece, and the 203mm BM super-heavy howitzer can all be used to ruthless efficiency in R.U.S.E.

If you're an RTS fan, don't let your collection be without this game.

I think people who find this game repetitive and simplistic have missed most of it.

I have been playing all possible strategy games about war since the 90s and Ruse is for me the only one which captures most of the aspects of warfare into one easy to grasp, hard to master game. The trick is this semi-abstract gameplay which removes the burden of micromanagement and forces you to think much more on the strategic level to make game changing choices.

I play against the UK. They have the best planes so I watch for any sign of early airport, and there it is! So immediately I build Anti Air Base and start pumping AA units, spread it inside forests for best cover.
But it was a decoy airport, and the enemy was building tanks and infantry under cover on the other flank! With all the resource spent building useless AA, will I have enough to build a counter force?
Can I slow down the enemy assault with ambushed infantry, or make a diversion on the other flank with decoy units while I build artillery undercover ?

Ruse is the only RTS I know which offers so many possibilities, so many spectacular ways to turn upside down a losing situation. Watch commented replays they usually are fascinating.

This is an absolutely amazing game. With it's very wide range of units and factions/countries to choose from you will never find yourself bored. Although this was released years ago, the multiplayer is still very active with new and old players.

100% the best real time war based strategy game I've ever played, the best in it's class.

Solid game. Puts the strategy in RTS without a doubt. Only downside is no online games available, so if you want this game for that, not happening unless you can get a friend to play. Plenty of co-op options available.
Playing against computer is challenging in the beginning, but they always blow all their money to quickly to sustain it. Recommend this game for the campaign which was fun and challenging.

I used to play this game on the ps3 when it came out. I played it almost every day for hours and de_stroyed almost every opponent. It was my game. If it were a proffesional eSport then I would be on a team.
Now that I am no more a console pleb I bought this game on pc. I still like it but I lack the efficiency I had before on the ps3 remote.
The nostalgia is real

This game is really good. However as much as i love the way it is there are a lot of things that i really hate. Now this is just personal things because i am a WWII Nerd. The main thing is which is only one thing is well the way the units work. Bombers (not Fighter Bombers) do less damage to armor, Tank Destroyers cant attack light units. Those small little things. It really pisses me off sometime because i love using the Arado Ar 234 Blitz which personally i find to be the best bombers and technically it had the same type of load the B-17 Flying Fortress had in most cases. (Edit sorry miss calculated the weight the Boeing B-17 Flying Fortress Carried 2200 kilograms of bombs and the Arado Ar 234 carried 1500 kilograms) Well enough of the personal preference that i have its not a bad game. I wish they would have made a German Campaign where you fight the americans and all that but i wont complain. Also sorry but since the Arl 234 Blitz was so fast it couldnt be intercepted and the B-17 Flying Fortress could and the ME 262's would ruin their day. (Researching) Well that took a very long time just to find out how high a B-17 could fly well nvm it flys higher. Anywho its a good game well made. Campaign is pretty intresting good alternate history. *sigh* i will end this review before i give a very long txt of the history anyways hope they support it again its a good game not a lot of bad feats. To be honest now that i think about it the B-17 may be able to carry bigger bombs and fly 5600 ft higher but they are easy to be hit by flak and intercept. :3
