As I stood among the totems of the dead gods on the mount, the world went silent save the blowing of the wind. Further up I walked and came across a lone tuning stone, an instrument for a ritual of the dead civilization. I sat there next to it and watched the sun set and the moon rise.

I walked among the trees of the summer, following the lines of the land. Bees appeared around me and gave me great swiftness to my destination. It brought me to the graveyard. Among the gravestones stood one that was blessed. Red flowers grew there, the last true grave of the people. The grave of my wife. None live that will bury me in the earth, my body shall rest upon the mount.

This isn't a game so much as a work of art. Its low resolution "8 bit" graphics but nonetheless there is a beauty to it - not only visually, as the music changes as the environment changes.

I tried this "game" a year or two ago, played it for about 10 minutes, didn't really get what I was supposed to do, and gave up. I came back to it today wandered around for a bit and then after a while I started to understand what it was about.

When I came back to it this time, I didn't try and do anything, I just wandered around, and then I understood what I was supposed to do - which was just to wander around!

This isn't a game about competition, its not a game with much of a story, its not a game about self-improvement, but it is Art.

Really not worth the money. It's a neat experience, but ten dollars for less than an hour is what I call "a bit steep." Just watch a youtube video of it.

Proteus is a game where you wander around a randomly generated, low-res island.
The island changes as you play, and the soundtrack adapts to everything that happens on screen.
Proteus is not achievement-driven, so there aren’t any errands you have to do.
The only goal is to look and listen, which is great because the world in Proteus is so pleasant.

This is a very relaxing experience. I think it is unfair to call it a game because that might disappoint some people going in to it. But if you know what you're getting into, this is really worth your time.

It's 5:39 am and I haven't slept yet and I need to do (more) productive stuff around 8 am (excuse my spelling). Proteus was a game I was excited by when I learned about it which was a long while ago. It's been at least a year or two since I heard about it and I got it on the summersausagesales. I liked it. It was rather immersive and the sfx was fantastic with the stuff you could interact with. I think I do wish there was more you could interact with and that my first playthrough would be longer and more eventful (but it was still mindblowing) I did very much enjoy this game. It affected my dreams when I went to bed the day of playing the game. Maybe I'll write more about this game soon but this is my basic review of Proteus. I don't recommend getting it for full price since I found the game to be short though.

Very calm, happy game. If you don't like "walking simulators" this game isn't for you. There aren't any tasks to complete other than changing the seasons, it's purely exploration. It isn't a game you can play for hours at a time, but it's nice if you need something to relax.

Get some quality mind-benders*. Combine with this chillaxer. Relax, and enjoy your trip.

Music is awesome. One of the best out there. Don't expect a game, expect a journey. Wait for a discount if in doubt.

--- PROTEUS ---- This is less of a game and more of an experience. Possible Spoilers

PROS
- There are no objectives.
- You wander aimlessly though a forever generating world
- There's a nice feature in which you can save memories and transport yourself back to a certain location
- Enough mystery and intrigue within the design of the world was enough for me to just walk around for about 35ish minutes, the game generates its own landmarks which helps with this
- It looks great, its very clourful without being disorientating and the semi-pixelised art style is a nice touch
- Like the world, the games soundtrack builds up as you walk around, It provides a nice ambient feel and compliments the sense of mindlessly walking around discovering different landmarks and locales

CONS
- For the experience the price tag is hefty, if you can buy it for $5 or less than i'd say its worth an interesting
30min - 1 hour
- Since its a procedurally generated world and ,atleast in my experience, can potentually be rather buggy. In other words you can be walking around walking on the ocean for a while before you see anything
- Once you've visited a few different worlds the game feels empty afterwards as there is nothing really to do, it'd be interesting if there was some form of journal that you could keep, this could help in providing your own stories for the different places within the world

How can this game have any poor reviews. That would be like picking on an infant. This game is not about being a game. Its about being a zen. This is brain candy which touches senses and feelings I forgot I had. Its like the earliest dream you had which you can't ever quite remember. The longer you stay the sadder and happier you get. The artisans of Proteus somehow captured a place that I have longed for, combining color palettes rarely seen, which stir such emotion. What a masterful creation. The genius in this artistic simplicity will be missed on many. But for those whose minds can grasp the deeper significance and beauty, this game will excite you. Thank you developers for putting so much love into this title.

又是一款奇葩的文艺向游戏!

这游戏模式非常简单,程序随机生成一个岛屿,然后玩家以第一人称视角在岛上随便逛,嗯,完了,真的就这么简单。没有剧情,没有背景,没有文字,没有游戏性,但Metacritic的媒体竟然会给出如此高分,说实话我也感到很意外,毕竟比起游戏,本作更接近追求艺术性的实验作品,至少可以肯定的是它从娱乐角度上评价是相当失败的,因为缺乏固定的游戏目标和奖励机制,如果不能静下心来欣赏其意境的话,十有八九会感到无聊吧

不过从另一方面,本作确实可以给大家带来一些极其独特的体验~首先在视觉上本作就非常有特色,虽然岛屿显然是用3D引擎制作的,但作者却用纯色块来代替常规贴图,而且没有任何阴影效果,导致了视觉上的平面化,仅通过最基本的透视和远景迷雾来体现距离感,同时充满锯齿的粗犷画面有着极强的复古像素风,这种逆行倒施废除3D感回归像素的作法还是相当少见的

当然不光是让人眼前一亮的画面,动态岛屿其实也是一个非常有意思的设计,玩家在岛上看日出日落,看阴晴雨雪,经历春夏秋冬,在不同时间又有不同的植被和动物,岛上的一天(默认)是现实中的15分钟,每次玩家看到的都是一个熟悉而又有所不同的岛屿,通过不断在这个岛屿上探索,不断去寻找新的经历新的景色,辅以独特的画面风格,确实能找到不少惊艳的美景,同时作者也在岛上藏了不少彩蛋,有意无意地发掘这些彩蛋也让新的探索变得更加有意义

每个岛屿上都有固定的几个人造物作为地标,其中最为重要的地标是石圈,晚上在石圈中会有飞舞的光点,接近这些光点可以让时间快速流逝,而站在石圈中央会直接跳到下一个季度——游戏刚开始时是春天,通过石圈的时间跳跃三次直到冬天,而在冬天夜里玩家操控的视点会逐渐飘向空中,穿越云层,最终再也看不见岛屿,游戏到此结束,返回主菜单。如果不在一个季度停留多日看风景的话,一般走一遍流程大概也就一小时不到

总之这主要就是一款用来放松身心的“游戏”,如果比较急躁静不下心来欣赏的话还是远离这个作品比较好,对于大部分玩家也不值得推荐,因为真的没什么好玩的地方,倒是那些喜欢文艺作品、艺术性独立游戏的玩家非常推荐试试这款作品,在这个梦幻般恬静的小岛上散步,兴许会有不少心灵上的净化和感悟

有些意思的像素风模拟步行游戏,玩家降生在一座随机生成的小岛上到处看风景,可以坐着啥的,碰到什么东西都会产生音效,由此来编织自己的音乐(但其实一般瞎逛的时候音效都不是很连贯……)
治愈、震撼与乏味并存,这大概也是它好评率没能上80%的原因
总评:如果它做丰富了可以冲击神作——7.5/10
