Chivalry: Medieval Warfare Patch 47.5 - Hotfix!

This patch addresses the following fixes.

Misc.

  • Fixed some texture LOD settings that could have been causing incorrect visibility of world objects

Maps/Levels

Castle Assault / King's Garden
  • Making barriers work properly (not stick in the way after the objective is completed). The barriers added in the previous patch were not implemented correctly and would often bug out, additional protection has been added to ensure they work as intended.

    Drunken Bazaar
  • Fixed the collision on the optional side bridge

Please expect our servers to be down for a time while they are updated

About This Game

Besiege castles and raid villages in Chivalry: Medieval Warfare is a first-person slasher with a focus on multi-player. Featuring competitive online combat that seeks to capture the experience of truly being on a medieval battlefield. Inspired from the intensity and epicness of swordfighting movies such as 300, Gladiator and Braveheart, Chivalry: Medieval Warfare aims to bring that experience to the hands of a gamer.

The game is skill-based and controls like an FPS, but instead of guns and grenades, players are given swords, shields, maces, battleaxes and longbows. Set in a fictional, yet gritty and realistic world, players will fight in fast paced online battles besieging castles, raiding medieval villages and fighting for glory in the arena with up to 32 players.

Key Features:

  • Deep melee combat system provides players with a huge range of responsive combat options
  • Adjust your attacks and blocks in real time with the mouse for precise and full control of the action
  • Wield an arsenal of up to 60 brutal weapons ranging from broad swords and battle axes to longbows and javelins
  • Dynamic objective system brings team tactics and strategy to the forefront as players batter down gates, raid villages and assassinate enemy royalty to achieve victory.
  • Use a variety of siege weapons ranging from catapults, boiling oil, ballista, battering rams and more
  • Vast, lush environments that transport the player to a gritty and immersive medieval world.
  • Offline play options that allow players to gain familiarity with the controls and gameplay before being thrust into the action.

Really fun game!

its a really fun game and its really cool that you can do MMO fights in special servers with 50v50 people because 12v12 can sometimes be really boring if you just cant find the enemies, i also like the FFA but the spawns are sometimes really neat and you get backstabbed a lot, its also a fun game to play with a party with like 3 people or more in a small arena, i also like the different classes and the physics in the game. the graphics are not the really best graphics, but who cares! you can smack someone's arms and legs and even their head of. the logo's and different clothing patterns are really fun to use but it really sucks that you have to pay for different weapon skins. and helmets and stuff.

but overal its a really satisfying game! and fun to play.

I decided to jump onto my first multiplayer game after becoming confident in my bot-destroying abilities.

My objective was to defend a village and its inhabitants from the Mason Order.

One person in particular that I remember vividly was a Mason Vanguard who I engaged in a duel after seeing him defeat one of my allies. I ran up to him with my longsword in hand (well, both of my hands) while his back was turned. He was preparing to bring his massive two-handed sword down to butcher another hopeless peasant.

He accidentially managed to hit me with a reverse overhead despite not knowing that I was behind him. Unfortunately, my loud yell of pain got his attention. I managed to get a few strikes in, but the first blow I took did a lot of damage and I fell on the battlefield. I watched with my dying breath as he started performing squats on my face while saying that he liked me.

Suddenly, his head exploded as an Agathian Knight struck him from behind with his maul. The dead Mason Vanguard fell on top of my corpse. As my respawning timer ended, the last thing I saw of that engagement was my comrade teabagging where our opponent's head would have been if it had not exploded, which unfortunately was also where my surprisingly still intact face was.

9,001/420 would become a victim of necrophilia again

First off, before i write this review i would like to say that i truly love this game. the feel of you and 15 other complete strangers duking it out on a level playing field is excilerating and i dont feel there is another game that offers quite the same thing. the feel of the game from the graphics and voice overs is amazing and i feel the atmosphere of this game is perfect.

however this game is lacking many things, so much so that i believe that it is beyond repair. First off, the game lacks a matchmaking system which means that right after lvl 15 when u cant play on noob servers anymore yuour going to get slaughtered almost immeadetly on any server you go on. I also feel like the lack of a COMPETITIVE game mode with a ranking/elo system really hinders this game's growth a lot. Most of the reason why i like games like cs go and league of legends is becuase of the competitive-ness and balanced gameplay which this game has niether.\

My second problem with this game is that it is a ♥♥♥♥♥ to run. I have a mediocre computer and i have to run on the lowest setting and still get bad fps lag. Ik that this is also a fault on my end but you shouldnt have to have a super computer to run games.

The communication within teams could also use some tweaks. the addition of a voice chat would make things a lot more fun imo and make for a more enjoyable expeirience

My last problem with this game is all the little bugs and exploits that higher level chivalrists use to kill whoever is not using thos bugs. the "balance team" that runs chivalry has decided they are going to keep the exploits which leads to toxic and wonky gameplay which is sheer lazyness on their part. perhaps the only reason why chivalry doesnt have a large competitive scene is becuase the devs dont give a crap about the game except for making skins.

Overall I loved this game for the longest time but until some of these changes are changed, i think ill play other more balanced games

A really awesome game, at least while you are still in the lower levels where people use swings like swings are used in real life.
Once you enter the more experienced meta, combat becomes exploit wars of the weirdest mechanic flaws, despite the safety measures that were supposed to prevent it.

Momentum and directions are no longer a thing, instead, people will be spinning like table tops, blades coming at you through the ground from point blank, with so little momentum and speed that your time-limited block won't work, etc.
It literally becomes bug wars.

And while the same happened to Jedi Knight games, there it still made sense because the blades were made of light and wielded by the force, no momentum required.
I used to play JKA for many years, but in Chivalry it just kills all the fun, atmosphere and authenticity the game otherwise has.

Bottom line:
It is a blast at low levels and a bizarre bugfest in mid-high levels, forcing you to either adapt to the exploit spam or become cannon fodder.

Chivalry is a must have game if you love FPS games that involve hacking people to pieces. This game is really fun to play and is very similar to TF2. There are a variety of weapons to try out and kill your opponents. Not to mention, you can also use siege weaponry like catapults and ballistas in combat to change the tide of battle. The gamemodes are incredibly fun and really challenge you and your team mates to work together and form battle stratgies. The only thing that should be changed is that there should be more players on each team to enhance the reality of a medieval battle. Over all I recommend this game to every one that loves FPS games and medieval settings. :)

All of us in childhood presented themselves brave knights or warriors who fought for anything. This game will allow you to feel like a real knight and why. You choose one of two supporters of Agatha Knights or Knights of the Order. The plot is essentially no. Just some defense, and other attacks. But in this game and the story is not needed, the main role is played by the gameplay, and it's here at altitude. Here you can take that torch and set fire to the house with the peasants or in a close fight to go, but you can shoot with a catapult. There are many classes of characters, but they differ only in arms and attack speed, but it does not prevent to choose your class and that will be a key for you. The game is available to upgrade weapons and opening for each class. It all depends on your performance in every match. Beginners will not be easy, but I assure you that after 5-10 battles you will already be able to easily dominate the other players. The main use shield and choose the right moment to attack. Beware of archers and fire bombs. Health vosstonavlevaetsya gradually, if you will not attack. But there are moments that spoil the game, namely the bugs, a large influx of people into the server and sometimes not progruzhat texture and you can fall through into the abyss. But developers often release updates which correct not only bugs, but also produce new skins, modes.

Chivalry is actually pretty enjoyable when you first start playing. After a certain point, however, you realize that the game is broken beyond reason. When you're past level 15, you'll no longer be able to play in low level servers. It means you'll be stuck with 1500 hour tryhards who'll make use of every possible broken mechanic, glitch and bug in the game to dominate you. Apparently, instead of fixing their game, the developers decided to "include" everything broken in the game as part of its core mechanics. Because they are too busy developing another equally broken sequel. They are still updating the game regularly, but the patches mostly include community made cosmetic skins which are sold by real money. Not much bugfixing and never the most important stuff.

What's worse is that the game has one of the most toxic communities I have ever seen. Whenever you try to point out the game's flaws, you will be mocked. You will be insulted. They will tell you to "git gud" at glitching or stop playing. You will be teamkilled by cancerous trolls that never gets votekicked and in retaliation, start a votekick against you.

Newer players realize these problems and stop playing the game sooner or later. So, the servers are full of these glitch♥♥♥♥♥ "experts" who are competing in their own ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ contest about who glitches the best. Since the game doesn't give you a "casual player" space, you'll be stuck in this mess until your growing mental illness prevents you from gaming, or you'll die of cancer.

If you buy this game, there are only 2 outcomes:
1. You'll hate its guts and regret paying even a single dollar for it. You'll most likely uninstall it and never look back.
2. You'll bite and become a glitchmongering cancerous ballerina yourself. You will look down on every reasonable person who realize that the game is a broken, pathetic piece of human feces. You will masturbate on other people's misery.

Spin to win. That's the maxim of soldiers from ye olde times.

Once I learned of this truth I became a Beyblade master.

I also didn't know that knights were made out of paper.

I learned a lot from Chivalry.

Chivalry: Let it Rip.

Edit: Don't forget to crouch. That's important.

For the first 15 levels of the game, it's fun. Everyone is new (Except the ones that make a new account so they can grief the lower level players) and the playstyles are pretty straight forward.
After level 15, you are forced into the "Standard" servers where everyone is using any gimic they can find. Rips the fun out of mechanics and makes it slightly infuriating.

I could arguably recommend this, but there are cons that limit the new player's funtime experience. As a veteran player of Age of Chivalry, I found this game a nice graphic retouching of the original, but I find it frustrating in places like getting kicked for your ping jumping up for a second, or the toxicity of this game's community.

Many of them have criticised the swing mechanic and how players abuse it to make them look like spinning helicopter ballerinas. Truth is that it's actually very easy to counter these reverse-overheads and speed-ups. It's only because after a while you can see where you'd put your block when they do these moves. In other words they become very predictable.

NOW however this does not make it fun for the new player at all once they are kicked out of the low rank servers where they must deal with it. New players would have to put real dedication into it and master blocking these helicopter swings. Making the value of this game decrease dramatically due to it's fun value being lowered by this.

So in conclusion... Get it or not? Get Age of Chivalry first, it's free and has similar gameplay, you're also able to determine if Chivalry is right for you, but the community of Chivalry might drive you away though if you question this swinging mechanic so either turn off chat completely or stick to AoC. THERE ARE RARE CASES OF THE BALLERINAS NOT BEING IN A GAME, so you might be lucky to find such a game, especially if you're a new guy.

I will be playing this though, just because I'm used to the swing mechanic's exploitation being used on me, so it's not a big deal, but like I said it might not make it fun for the new player. (I to this day remain a pure fighter, never abused the swing mechanic.)

I love this game so please fix it. It has been this way as long as I can remember, the devs have not abondoned us by proving through the use of microtransactions and a DLC. We know your there, so please fix the combat exploits of overhead swings especially. Anything would be a great start. Will fix this review if it ever gets fixed
