Don't buy this game.

2K shot down all ONLINE servers you won't be able to play it online.
That's right they want us to buy it every year otherwise we can basically GTFO.

Downvoted for sure.

NBA2K13 is the classic example of an "everything just worked" sports game. Ones that you end up playing long after the newer yearly versions come out. For me it's like Tiger Woods 2005, MVP 2005, or NHL 2002 - NBA2K13 is a game that will be played for a long time. Personally, buying 2K14 is a waste of money. More about the content, this is the best basketball game I've played since the NBA Jam/HangTime/ShowTime series. With great visuals and excellent controls, that are easy to learn but hard to master, the game leaves you enjoying the moments. Plus all games are fully customizable and there is every mode you could want. I always love doing the create-a-player mode, where you follow the career, and here it delivers. To end, if you want to play a basketball game on Steam, and have a controller, get this game.

Choosing a 2K sports game is like choosing an American president in the voting polls. You just try to pick the lesser evil, but chances are that you'll be let down.

I support this game, but only because I don't have a choice. Hopefully, down the line, 2K sports games will recognize that PC gamers just plug in a gamepad and then magically the PC is better than console. We are a legitimate demographic to target, but 2K marketing seems to continually 'drop the ball' on giving PC gamers the functionality we desire.

We'll buy and play your stuff. If only it were more pleasant to do so.

6/10 - Would only recommend as there is no competition, so marking this one a 'no', if just barely.

It's really fun and all, yeah.
But the 2k servers on this game are down,
there was never MyTeam on the PC (C'mon man.)
and the most important thing, it's the same as any other game.
Even 2k14 and some of 2k15 too.

This game is solid for what it is. It is well produced and well made, and it can lead to some very fun moments where you feel like a badass on the court. But as you keep playing, you'll eventually start to get frustrated and even angry at times. This is because of it's design even though it was well executed, like performing every step perfectly in a bad plan. I have 100 hours in this game so you can take this however you want.

So what's bad about the design? Everything feels sluggish. In the attempt to simulate real life, they gave every action you can make an unavoidable movement animation. A lot of times you just want your character to jump and block a shot, but instead he takes a second to recover from taking one step to the right and THEN jump after which the ball has already fell through your basket. This happens for everything from stealing to juking. The crucial split second window you need to achieve is sometimes unattainable just because your character takes way too long to react to your button presses.

Every action is also probability based. I understand if the shot risky, then it should give you a probability chance of getting the points or not, but it also extends to simple dribbling without pressure. Losing a ton of grade rating (the game's mechanism for telling you how well you are doing) because of a series bad random number generations is just so rage inducing, especially when it's something you expect to succeed.

I guess these are my two biggest gripes about the game but there are a lot more I won't bother to go into detail for:
- team grading punishes you hard for any mistake
- punishes for bad call for passes when you just want to press A to skip the cutscene (A is call for a pass)
- your character is sometimes ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ (when you attempt to steal he swipes in the OPPOSITE direction of the ball)
- some movement animations take a couple seconds which is way too long
- your character sometimes trips over for NO reason (total probability based ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥)
- simulated games have 20min quarter while played games have 5min quarters. This inconsistency is bad because when it comes to awards which is determined by stats, you have players on other teams average 28 points, when it's pretty much impossible to score anywhere near that many points in your 5min quarter games
- the indicator that tells you who to guard changes a lot, and the team grading system will still punish you even when the indicator randomly changes last second to a player who just scored, saying "Allowed man to score".

There are plenty more where that came from but I don't want to make it too long. I'll say again that the game IS well-produced, but there is just too much ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ that happens (every single game). This game commits one of the biggest sins of video gaming, do not ♥♥♥♥ off your players. And trust me, once you get more experienced and understand more about how this game works, you'll start rage quitting every second game.

The second best basketball game I have played to date :) Graphically close to photo-realism with a decent game engine capturing pretty much every move you can think of. I find the controls aren't too intuitive but you get used to them; likewise the menu system is a bit confusing. NBA2K13 can be difficult to master but the AI is scalable to your skill level and there is a career mode which adds some variety to gameplay letting you work up the ranks. Looks great on a big screen!

... oh & my favorite basketball game (incase you're wondering) remains the legendary NBA Jam TE! :p

A great basketball game and overall I would say, one of the best games on steam, the controls take some getting used to (I recommend the use of a third party controller, playing with a keyboard and mouse is brutal) but once you get the hang of them, it is super fun. Compared to the console versions, the PC version doesn't boast as many features, and one of the most notable issues many people have with this game is regarding the inablitly to easily play with your friends online. MyPlayer mode is great and will provide you with hours of entertainment, you can really have a fun time customising your player and helping him rise through the ranks of the NBA. I would not say that this game is enjoyable for all, but if you are a basketball fan, it is a must have. Basically with this game, you are getting what you pay for and nothing extra, but it is still fun nontheless.
I would give it a solid 8/10 overall.

Worth your money.Spent hours on this game and enjoyed every minute.Gameplay is smooth~,graphics and cutscenes are nice(dont expect next-gen graphics though).AIs are smart and will PUNISH you for any mistake you make. The only fault i can find in this game is that the replay or highlight reel sometimes bugged out.

This Game is one of the best Basketball games I every played, The graphics are nice, gameplay is good, mechanics are good (for controller). But 2K (the Develepor) really must hate PCs because the controlls on a keyboard are terrible but PC doesn't offer good controlls for a basketball game in the first place, The game is missing a lot of features which are included in the Console version. I personally played this with my Xbox 360 controller and still had a lot of fun but If you own a console you should probably get it on the console.
